Confusing

The story is so suspenseful and mysterious, that I just don't have a clue what is going on. The ending twist just adds more confusion.

Good sci-fi

Good sci-fi, not pop culture sci-fi, but more pure sci-fi. Not exactly a star wars budget, but still an interesting story. Pulp sci-fi.

Based on a true story? What story, the one about how the writer couldn't come up with one?

True story ...... no

The opening claim to be a true story probably spoiled the film for me it is quite obviously not , it sort of spoiled what it actually is a half decent science fiction story .

Yes The story has been done before and there are lots of bits stolen from other much better sci-fi films but I quite enjoyed it most of the actors did a decent job and a lot of the special effects or cgi were fairly decent however there is for me at least no reason to watch it again and the ending was pretty naff but There were a couple of plus points for the film some very pretty scenery and some really nice cars on show , worth one viewing for sci fi fans.

WILHELM SCREAM: At 1:07:08 when the car explodes.

Goofs
A man is in the hospital. A nurse comes in to administer a sedative. The nurse injects the sedative into the IV bag. That's not how sedatives are normally administered as it would take way to long for the patient to receive it. The IV line goes through an IV pump. The man does not want the sedative so he pinches the IV line. The pump would immediately recognize that the line was blocked and would sound an alarm. Further, the nurse would notice that the fluid in the IV line was not dripping.
