This week, the fourth episode of The Wheel of Time season 3, entitled "The Road to the Spear," aired to critical acclaim; as of this writing, it has a score of 9.6/10 on IMDb, easily the highest of any episode thus far. It featured sequence beloved by fans of The Wheel of Time book: the Trials of Rhuidean, where Rand, Moiraine, and Aviendha enter the sacred Aiel city and experience visions. Rand sees visions of the past while Moiraine and Aviendha peer into various futures which may or may not come to pass. These sequences were stunning, and along with the three episodes released last week, continue the trend of this season being easily the best yet. The show has really come into its own as one of TV’s premiere fantasy series.

This week, Prime Video released the fourth episode of The Wheel of Time season 3. The epic fantasy show has been on the rise, but I think it's safe to say that this latest episode is one of, if not the best episode in the show's run to date. "The Road to the Spear" adapts a key part of Robert Jordan's iconic book series, where prophesied messiah Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) enters the mystical Aiel city of Rhuidean to undergo a trial of visions which will prove beyond all doubt that he is the chosen one. As part of those trials, Rand relives the experiences of his ancestors to discover the secret history of the Aiel, which is so shocking that Aiel chieftains are forbidden to speak of it to anyone but those who have undergone the same trial.

The Wheel of Timehas returned to Prime Video and reunited fans with Nynaeve al'Meara, played by Zoë Robins. Nynaeve is a core member of the series, working to help bring the Dragon Reborn to the Last Battle against the Dark One. She has been a fan-favorite character among readers of Robert Jordan's books for years, and thanks to Robins' performance, TV fans have taken to her just as much.
Cbr got the chance to speak with Robins about Nynaeve's journey in The Wheel of Time Season 3. She discussed bringing highly anticipated hero/villain relationships to life, and returning to the world to explore it further. She also reflected on bringing more levity to a character who has been very serious.
Cbr: How would you describe returning to set for The Wheel of Time Season 3?

Today, Prime Video dropped the fourth episode of The Wheel of Time season 3, and it was a doozy. "The Road to the Spear" tightened its focus on Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski), the prophesied hero known as the Dragon Reborn, following his footsteps through the mystical Aiel city of Rhuidean. As Rand passed through a forest of glass columns, he was transported back in time to relive key moments in the lives of his blood ancestors. It was a stunningly beautiful hour of television.
If you enjoyed it like we did, you're probably champing at the bit for the next episode. After all, as good as Rhuidean was, it didn't feature many important cast members like Perrin (Marcus Rutherford), Mat (Dónal Finn) and Nynaeve (Zoë Robins). What are they all getting up to while Rand is on his trippy vision quest?
We'll find out in The Wheel of Time season 3 Episode 5, which is titled "Tel'aran'rhiod.

Epic fantasy used to be seen only on the big screen, but over the last decade, we have seen massive productions based on books, video games, and more. Based on the long-running series by author Robert Jordan, The Wheel of Time has become a stalwart for Prime Video, with the third season set to be the biggest and most epic yet.
The plot of season three, per Prime Video: “After defeating Ishamael, one of the most powerful of the Forsaken, at the end of Season Two, Rand reunites with his friends in the city of Falme and is declared the Dragon Reborn. If there is one area of Fire Country in which fans have established their investment, it’s in Bode and Gabriela’s ill-fated relationship. However, those days could be far behind us now.
Ever since the series introduced Audrey, we’ve slowly watched the possibility of Bode and Gabriela giving things another shot disappear.
However, let’s not get it twisted. Bode and Gabriela had problems long before the newest blonde probie joined Cal Fire.
(Sergei Bachlakov/CBS)
Since the start of Fire Country, the show has managed to keep the “will they, won’t they” between Bode and Gabriela alive and well.
However, some would say the series kept that romance going well past its expiration date.
That said, “Bodriela” had many great moments, and we can’t sweep those under the rug for the sake of the story.

“The Wheel of Time” Season 3, Episode 4 finally tackled one of the most anticipated moments from the long-running fantasy adaptation: Rand’s journey through Rhuidean.
In order to prove whether Rand (Josha Stradowski) is truly the Car’a’carn – the one prophesied to lead the Aiel back over the Spine of the World for The Last Battle – he must first face the city of Rhuidean and its glass columns. All Aiel clan chiefs walk the columns and experience visions of their ancestors to understand the hidden origin of the people.
Rand travels through the city and faces six visions – some only dozens of years in the past and others hundreds of years, each step taking him further back in time all the way to the Age of Legends.
But what do these visions mean for The Dragon Reborn and the Aiel people going forward? Below, we break each vision down.

Last week, The Wheel of Time kicked off its third season with a block of three rock-solid episodes. This season of Prime Video's fantasy show is primarily adapting The Shadow Rising, one of the most acclaimed books in Robert Jordan's series. So far, it's living up to that high bar. Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) headed out into the Aiel Waste with his allies to earn the allegiance of the Aiel people; Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford) headed home to the Two Rivers to find the once peaceful village under siege from Trollocs and Whitecloaks; and Mat Cauthon (Dónal Finn), Nynaeve al'Meara (Zoë Robins) and Elayne Trakand (Ceara Coveney) set off to the seedy port city of Tanchico to hunt the Black Ajah. A lot's going on this season, and that's not even getting into the shadowy schemes of the Forsaken.

The Wheel of Time Season 3 Episode 4 Gives Rand the Spotlight That He Has Deserved for Three Seasons
You know, it could be me, but The Wheel of Time’s Moiraine might need to worry about Lanfear. Maybe it’s just paranoia, but there’s a good chance the Aes Sedai is headed for trouble with The Forsaken.
After kicking things off with a literal bang, the series has not wasted time throwing the characters into one adventure after another with enough action to keep sci-fi enthusiasts foaming at the mouth.
This episode, in particular, helped to expand so many aspects of The Wheel of Time, from the history of the current dragon to the lore surrounding the different ages.
(Prime/Screenshot)
More than anything, though, “The Road to the Spear” showed the clear inspirations drawn from recent hits with other fantasy and science fiction franchises.

Season 3, episode 4 of The Wheel of Time focuses solely on the Aiel Waste group. Specifically Rand and Moiraine. For non-book readers (such as myself), the episode feels like a bit of an overdose of information because it basically gives us a history of Rand and Aiel in general. It’s a complicated episode that is hard to understand without prior knowledge of the lore. Or at least that’s how I felt. But, here we are trying to comprehend everything that went down in this episode. This episode brings us to Rhuidean, an Aiel city surrounded by wasteland. The Wise One’s prophecy about the Car’a’carn is also known as the Prophecy of Rhuidean. It seems this is almost an abandoned city, but only certain Aiel can go there, including those who get permission from the Wise Ones. In Rhuidean, there are many Ter’angreal (objects of the...

Right now, Prime Video is airing the third season of The Wheel of Time, its sprawling fantasy series based on the beloved book series by Robert Jordan. While the show had some ups and downs throughout its first two seasons, largely due to the Covid pandemic and the unexpected recast of a central character which resulted in a "complete rewrite" of the story, the third season seems to be going over exceptionally well. Even critics who didn't enjoy the first two seasons are getting on board; as of this writing, The Wheel of Time season 3 holds a 94% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the show's highest yet.
All this is to say, The Wheel of Time is gaining steam and shows no sign of slowing down. This is good news for Amazon, which has long desired its own massive mainstream fantasy hit.

Welcome to Take the Black, where we break down the latest goings-on from the worlds of sci-fi, fantasy, movies, TV and books. It's mostly all about TV this week, because there's a lot of great stuff out there. We spend a lot of time on The Wheel of Time, which is in the middle of its third season on Prime Video. We're really pulling for this show: not only is an adaptation of a series of classic fantasy books, but it's a series that's increasingly worthy of the pedigree. We figure the more we talk about it, the better its chances of getting a third season, so here we are!
We talk about a lot of other stuff, too, but we put our best foot forward with The Wheel of Time. Watch us below:

When it comes to true crime dramas, I typically walk away feeling like I’ve wasted my time because they add too many perspectives and what-ifs to a sensitive situation.
The result is usually an over-stuffed affair that doesn’t do the story justice.
Thankfully, Good American Family zeroes in on parts of the Natalia Grace story that we haven’t heard much about, including Kristine Barnett’s perspective.
(Disney/Ser Baffo)
All we know about Kristine is how the media portrayed her, and, of course, The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, which didn’t show her in the best light or even include her side.
Ellen Pompeo did the bulk of the heavy lifting in the first two episodes, showcasing Kristine as this warm mother figure who slowly realizes something is amiss with the young girl she brought into her family on a whim.

Well, Hearties, the When Calls the Heart Season 12 finale is almost here, and it looks like it will be full of romance and drama for Hope Valley.
The spoilers for When Calls the Heart Season 12 Episode 12 tease that the town celebrates Angela, Emily, and Timmy’s graduation, and Elizabeth contemplates her plans.
The town also plans a surprise for Minnie. That could have something to do with Angela’s graduation.

Meanwhile, Lucas and Edie hunt for the gold, only to find Bill, Rosemary, and Nathan on the same mission.
It’s Graduation Day in Hope Valley, and Many of Elizabeth’s Students Could Move On
Much of When Calls the Heart Season 12 has revolved around Elizabeth’s older students finding their purpose, especially now that many will graduate this episode.
It’ll be a massive celebration since Elizabeth has worked hard to prepare them for college and their plans.

The third season of The Wheel of Time, an adaptation of Robert Jordan's beloved epic fantasy books, is off and running on Prime Video, and so far, it's crushing it. Hopefully, the season is successful enough that Prime Video renews the show for more seasons, and fans will get to watch the whole story play out.
In the meanwhile, Wheel of Time spinoffs are bubbling in the background. The Four Horsemen are saddling up again. After years of speculation, delays, and the occasional vanishing act, Now You See Me 3 is finally happening. This, for years, felt like one of the franchise’s own tricks – hinted at, rumored, and then disappearing into thin air. Originally announced in 2016, the project seemed to be stuck in development limbo for the better part of a decade.

Lionsgate, however, has officially confirmed that the new Nysm film is set to hit theaters on November 14, 2025. If you’re wondering why Now You See Me 3 took so long, the production process wasn’t exactly smooth sailing.
Why did Now You See Me 3 take so long?
Delays due to scheduling conflicts, script rewrites, and even the pandemic pushed the film back multiple times. But finally, in November 2024, filming wrapped, and the movie is currently in post-production.

From here on out, we're only going to get one episode per week of The Wheel of Time. We shared everything we know so far about The Wheel of Time season 3 episode 4, "The Road to the Spear." I have a feeling we're going to be spending a lot of time in the Aiel Waste in the new episode.

The third season of The Wheel of Time is off to a fantastic start on Prime Video. The streaming service released three episodes last week, and they didn’t disappoint.
Although the show is scrambling the events from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time book series a bit, these episodes did a good job of making that change relatively seamless without losing any momentum built up during the action-packed finale to season 2.
Without focusing too much on the differences between the books and the show, audiences can appreciate the visual smorgasbord the show delivers with aplomb. So far, The Wheel of Time is a prime example of how a quality fantasy story can be told on the small screen.

The third season of Prime Video's fantasy series, The Wheel of Time, is currently streaming with a few episodes already dropping. Under the direction of showrunner Rafe Judkins, the third season will experience a deviation from the canon set out by Robert Jordan, whose written works are being adapted for screen. As Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) continues his journey and preparation to face the threat of the Dark One, his decisions and how he manages his relationships continue to be of significance. Having been proclaimed the Dragon Reborn at Falme, the room for error in his decision-making continues to shrink. One of the relationships Rand will have to expertly navigate is the one he shares with Egwene al'Vere (played by Madeleine Madden), and the actress is not oblivious to how high the stakes are in the third season.

There has been quite a resurgence in the genre of biblical stories in film and television. With streaming and the movie industry adapting to an evolving taste in storytelling, many studios are looking to particular genres that have been consistent hits with audiences. One area that has been pretty consistent has been biblical stories, whether it be Noah's Ark or the origins of Jesus Christ. Some favorite biblical adaptations in film and television include Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, 1956's The Ten Commandments, The Prince of Egypt, The Nativity Story, VeggieTales, and Darren Aronofsky's Noah.
Adapting biblical stories to the small or big screen has proved an arduous endeavor, as the controversy surrounding the projects is usually inevitable. However, seeming inaccuracies aside, a few storytellers have been able to adapt certain stories and have found much success with the outcomes. For example, The Chosen has become a consistent hit on streaming,...

Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series runs a massive 14 volumes, none of them small. It's one of the most epic of epic fantasy series, and adapting it for TV was always going to be a challenge. Rafe Judkins, the showrunner behind Prime Video's The Wheel of Time TV show, has been at it for years, and although the new season is the best yet, there are still plentiful changes from the source material.
And I think most fans expect that; it's unrealistic to think that nothing is going to change when you adapt a series this big. The question is whether Judkins and his team are making the right changes. He explained his thinking to Tech Radar.
"I'm always focused on the emotional truth of the characters and trying to get that across on screen," Judkins said. "That's where television shines. If you're doing an adaptation for television,...

Dakota Johnson is a matchmaker facing a tough decision in her own love life in the trailer for A24’s Materialists.
Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal also star in writer-director Celine Song’s romantic feature that hit theaters June 13. Materialists centers on Lucy (Johnson), a New York City matchmaker who is torn between a wealthy suitor (Pascal) and her flawed ex (Evans).
“When I see your face, I see wrinkles and children that look like you,” Evans tells Johnson in the trailer in an attempt to win her over. “So where does that leave us?”
Later in the footage, Johnson questions her ability to do her job as she feels jaded about romance. “We promise them love, but the math doesn’t add up,” she laments.
Song helmed the feature from her own script. She produces the film alongside David Hinojosa, Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler.

Currently, season 3 of The Wheel of Time has an approval rating of 94% from 17 reviews, with an average critic rating of 7.8 out of 10.

In the world of ‘The Wheel of Time,’ a new threat has stepped out of the shadows in season 3, and it’s got everyone talking. The Gray Man, a chilling figure tied to the Forsaken Moghedien, made a creepy debut on the TV show. These assassins aren’t just random killers—they’re a key part of the story, pulled straight from Robert Jordan’s massive book series. Let’s break down who they are and why they matter, both on screen and in the novels.
The Gray Men popped up in the season 3 premiere of the Prime Video series, which kicked off on March 13, 2025. They’re not your typical bad guys. These are humans who’ve given up their souls to the Dark One, turning them into near-invisible killers.
In the show, one of them nearly takes out Nynaeve, played by Zoë Robins, in a tense moment that had us all on edge.

The third season of The Wheel of Time has kicked off on Prime Video, and so far, it's terrific. The show is adapting The Shadow Rising, one of the best books in Robert Jordan's epic fantasy series, and the cast and crew have both stepped up their games.
While the effects look better than ever, the best thing about season 3 so far is in the increased depth of character. The relationships on the show are changing, including the one between Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) and Moiraine (Rosamund Pike). He's the Dragon Reborn and she's the Aes Sedai sorceress who's dedicated her life to making sure the Dragon Reborn gets on the right path. But he's seen some things by now and isn't listening to everything she says anymore. “She has to accept that is a battle of submission and control for her,” Pike told TV Insider. “In order to continue to guide him,...

The second season of The Wheel of Time ended with the Battle of Falme, where Rand and his friends defeated the Forsaken sorcerer Ishamael while the invading Seanchan army was driven back in the city below. At the end, Rand is proclaimed the Dragon Reborn for all to see.
The battle roughly plays out more or less like it does in The Great Hunt, the second book in Robert Jordan's massive Wheel of Time series. But there are differences. For one thing, in the book, when Rand fights Ishamael, their forms are projected into the sky above the city, so all can see their battle. That may have been a bit grand for the show and I don't think many fans thought too much about it being cut. Still, it's a cool and it's a shame that it didn't show up onscreen.

There are 14 books in The Wheel of Time series, plus a prequel. They came out between 1990 and 2013. That's 23 years, hundreds of chapters and millions of words of epic fantasy. Rand al'Thor and his friends from the Two Rivers go from being rustic nobodies to heroes of legend. This week, Prime Video premiered the third season of The Wheel of Time, its sweeping epic fantasy series based on the books by Robert Jordan. Out of the gate, it's become obvious that this is a much darker, more complex chapter for Amazon's fantasy show. There are new villains, the heroes are facing more difficult challenges, and factions are rising and falling.
There's a lot of that going on in the White Tower, the stronghold of the Aes Sedai sorceresses in the city of Tar Valon. Two out of the first three episodes of the season had the tower taking some serious hits. In the premiere, Liandrin Guirale (Kate Fleetwood) and her fellow Black Ajah defectors turned the inner sanctum of the tower into a battleground as they fought their way out of the city. Then in Episode 302, Queen Morgase Trakand (Olivia Williams) arrived to demand answers for the abduction...

In the explosive premiere of The Wheel of Time season 3, Rand and Moiraine begin their journey to the Aiel Waste instead of Tear with Egwene, Lan, and Aviendha in tow. Meanwhile, the rest of those in Tar Valon and beyond deal with the fallout of the Black Ajah’s attack on The White Tower.
The Wheel of Time season 3 episode 2, "A Question of Crimson," begins many years earlier as the Queen of Andor, Morgase of House Trakand (Olivia Williams), murders those who would challenge her throne at Elaida Sedai’s (Shohreh Aghdashloo) urging. You might recognize the Trakand name because Morgase is actually Elayne’s mom.
Queen Morgase arrives in Tar Valon
Shortly after, Queen Morgase arrives in Tar Valon with the Prince Consort of the Queen, Lord Gaebril (Nuno Lopes) and Elaida Sedai of the Red Ajah, along with Elayne’s Prince brothers. After scoring a few moments with the Amyrlin Seat,...

The third season of The Wheel of Time has premiered on Prime Video with its first three episodes. The epic television series is adapted from the best-selling fantasy novels penned by Robert Jordan. Since the show's premiere in 2021, viewers with a keen eye, who are well-versed in Jordan's written works, will have noticed some variation in the on-screen plot. It is a change that does not exactly sit well with some fans of the franchise, who had hoped for the television series to follow the trajectory of the novels. Showrunner Rafe Judkins has since defended the decision to keep making story and character-based changes in Prime Video's TV adaptation.
