This week, the fourth episode of The Wheel of Time season 3, entitled "The Road to the Spear," aired to critical acclaim; as of this writing, it has a score of 9.6/10 on IMDb, easily the highest of any episode thus far. It featured sequence beloved by fans of The Wheel of Time book: the Trials of Rhuidean, where Rand, Moiraine, and Aviendha enter the sacred Aiel city and experience visions. Rand sees visions of the past while Moiraine and Aviendha peer into various futures which may or may not come to pass. These sequences were stunning, and along with the three episodes released last week, continue the trend of this season being easily the best yet. The epic fantasy show has been on the rise, but I think it's safe to say that this latest episode is one of, if not the best episode in the show's run to date. "The Road to the Spear" adapts a key part of Robert Jordan's iconic book series, where prophesied messiah Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) enters the mystical Aiel city of Rhuidean to undergo a trial of visions which will prove beyond all doubt that he is the chosen one. As part of those trials, Rand relives the experiences of his ancestors to discover the secret history of the Aiel, which is so shocking that Aiel chieftains are forbidden to speak of it to anyone but those who have undergone the same trial.

The Wheel of Timehas returned to Prime Video and reunited fans with Nynaeve al'Meara, played by Zoë Robins. Nynaeve is a core member of the series, working to help bring the Dragon Reborn to the Last Battle against the Dark One. She has been a fan-favorite character among readers of Robert Jordan's books for years, and thanks to Robins' performance, TV fans have taken to her just as much.

Cbr got the chance to speak with Robins about Nynaeve's journey in The Wheel of Time Season 3. She discussed bringing highly anticipated hero/villain relationships to life, and returning to the world to explore it further. She also reflected on bringing more levity to a character who has been very serious.

Today, Prime Video dropped the fourth episode of The Wheel of Time season 3, and it was a doozy. "The Road to the Spear" tightened its focus on Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski), the prophesied hero known as the Dragon Reborn, following his footsteps through the mystical Aiel city of Rhuidean. As Rand passed through a forest of glass columns, he was transported back in time to relive key moments in the lives of his blood ancestors. It was a stunningly beautiful hour of television.

If you enjoyed it like we did, you're probably champing at the bit for the next episode. After all, as good as Rhuidean was, it didn't feature many important cast members like Perrin (Marcus Rutherford), Mat (Dónal Finn) and Nynaeve (Zoë Robins). What are they all getting up to while Rand is on his trippy vision quest?

“The Wheel of Time” Season 3, Episode 4 finally tackled one of the most anticipated moments from the long-running fantasy adaptation: Rand’s journey through Rhuidean.

In order to prove whether Rand (Josha Stradowski) is truly the Car’a’carn – the one prophesied to lead the Aiel back over the Spine of the World for The Last Battle – he must first face the city of Rhuidean and its glass columns. You know, it could be me, but The Wheel of Time’s Moiraine might need to worry about Lanfear. Maybe it’s just paranoia, but there’s a good chance the Aes Sedai is headed for trouble with The Forsaken.

After kicking things off with a literal bang, the series has not wasted time throwing the characters into one adventure after another with enough action to keep sci-fi enthusiasts foaming at the mouth.

This episode, in particular, helped to expand so many aspects of The Wheel of Time, from the history of the current dragon to the lore surrounding the different ages.

For non-book readers (such as myself), the episode feels like a bit of an overdose of information because it basically gives us a history of Rand and Aiel in general. It’s a complicated episode that is hard to understand without prior knowledge of the lore. Or at least that’s how I felt. But, here we are trying to comprehend everything that went down in this episode. This episode brings us to Rhuidean, an Aiel city surrounded by wasteland. Right now, Prime Video is airing the third season of The Wheel of Time, its sprawling fantasy series based on the beloved book series by Robert Jordan. While the show had some ups and downs throughout its first two seasons, largely due to the Covid pandemic and the unexpected recast of a central character which resulted in a "complete rewrite" of the story, the third season seems to be going over exceptionally well. Even critics who didn't enjoy the first two seasons are getting on board; as of this writing, The Wheel of Time season 3 holds a 94% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the show's highest yet.

All this is to say, The Wheel of Time is gaining steam and shows no sign of slowing down. This is good news for Amazon, which has long desired its own massive mainstream fantasy hit.

When it comes to true crime dramas, I typically walk away feeling like I’ve wasted my time because they add too many perspectives and what-ifs to a sensitive situation.

Much of When Calls the Heart Season 12 has revolved around Elizabeth’s older students finding their purpose, especially now that many will graduate this episode.

It’ll be a massive celebration since Elizabeth has worked hard to prepare them for college and their plans.

The third season of The Wheel of Time, an adaptation of Robert Jordan's beloved epic fantasy books, is off and running on Prime Video, and so far, it's crushing it. Hopefully, the season is successful enough that Prime Video renews the show for more seasons, and fans will get to watch the whole story play out.

In the meanwhile, Wheel of Time spinoffs are bubbling in the background. This, for years, felt like one of the franchise’s own tricks – hinted at, rumored, and then disappearing into thin air. The third season of The Wheel of Time is off to a fantastic start on Prime Video. The streaming service released three episodes last week, and they didn’t disappoint.

Although the show is scrambling the events from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time book series a bit, these episodes did a good job of making that change relatively seamless without losing any momentum built up during the action-packed finale to season 2.

Without focusing too much on the differences between the books and the show, audiences can appreciate the visual smorgasbord the show delivers with aplomb. So far, The Wheel of Time is a prime example of how a quality fantasy story can be told on the small screen.

The third season of Prime Video's fantasy series, The Wheel of Time, is currently streaming with a few episodes already dropping. Under the direction of showrunner Rafe Judkins, the third season will experience a deviation from the canon set out by Robert Jordan, whose written works are being adapted for screen. As Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) continues his journey and preparation to face the threat of the Dark One, his decisions and how he manages his relationships continue to be of significance. Having been proclaimed the Dragon Reborn at Falme, the room for error in his decision-making continues to shrink. One of the relationships Rand will have to expertly navigate is the one he shares with Egwene al'Vere (played by Madeleine Madden), and the actress is not oblivious to how high the stakes are in the third season.

There has been quite a resurgence in the genre of biblical stories in film and television. Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series runs a massive 14 volumes, none of them small. It's one of the most epic of epic fantasy series, and adapting it for TV was always going to be a challenge. Rafe Judkins, the showrunner behind Prime Video's The Wheel of Time TV show, has been at it for years, and although the new season is the best yet, there are still plentiful changes from the source material.

Although it likely too soon to tell, the epic fantasy tale is currently positioned for greatness, at least based on the first reviews for the current season.

Over on Rotten Tomatoes, the first season has an 81% approval rating while the second season secured a modest bump, up to 86%.

Currently, season 3 of The Wheel of Time has an approval rating of 94% from 17 reviews, with an average critic rating of 7.8 out of 10.

With the first three episodes of season 3 largely focused on Rand, Mat, and Perrin—the three primary characters of the books—the the majority of book purists who were harshly critical of the series are beginning to change their minds, at least on social media.

It’s safe to say that Amazon Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time has finally hit its stride. The first three episodes of its highly anticipated third season have finally hit screens across the world, and immediately raise the stakes for Rand al’ Thor and Co. with threats coming at them from a multitude of directions.

With more of the Forsaken making their on-screen debut while each of the Two River’s former citizens faces struggles of their own, there is a lot to like in The Wheel of Time’s deft weaving of the Pattern established in Robert Jordan’s elaborately written series of fantasy novels.

Severance season 2 comes to an end with its surely shocking finale on March 21, while Hallmark's hit series When Calls the Heart concludes season 12 on March 23. The second season of The Wheel of Time ended with the Battle of Falme, where Rand and his friends defeated the Forsaken sorcerer Ishamael while the invading Seanchan army was driven back in the city below. At the end, Rand is proclaimed the Dragon Reborn for all to see.

The battle roughly plays out more or less like it does in The Great Hunt, the second book in Robert Jordan's massive Wheel of Time series. But there are differences. For one thing, in the book, when Rand fights Ishamael, their forms are projected into the sky above the city, so all can see their battle. That may have been a bit grand for the show and I don't think many fans thought too much about it being cut. Still, it's a cool and it's a shame that it didn't show up onscreen.
