Chris Paul, Lewis Hamilton Win Big in PETA’s 2019 Libby Awards
The results are in for PETA's 14th annual Libby Awards (“Libby” is short for “liberation” — as in “animal liberation”), in which the group’s youth division recognizes the most powerful players on the animal rights scene — and Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton and NBA All-Star Chris Paul have come out on top for advocating healthy vegan eating.

Hamilton won Best ’Gram for Animals for sharing a photo of a mother pig and her babies lying dead in a dumpster and urging followers to go vegan. In the post, he wrote, “A mother and her babies tossed away like trash. Their rights were never considered, their lives were never theirs to live. This is the price of your bacon. … #chooselove #govegan.”

Paul — who, like Hamilton, is among the executive producers of the groundbreaking documentary The Game Changers — was named Most Animal-Friendly Athlete for touting the benefits of vegan eating.

‘Where’s My Roy Cohn?’ Earns Top Average During ‘Downton Abbey’-Fueled Indie Box Office
Elizabeth McGovern, Maggie Smith, Imelda Staunton, Hugh Bonneville, Jim Carter, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Kevin Doyle, Joanne Froggatt, Matthew Goode, Phyllis Logan, Lesley Nicol, Penelope Wilton, Allen Leech, Robert James-Collier, Michelle Dockery, Harry Hadden-Paton, Sophie McShera, Tuppence Middleton, Laura Carmichael, and Michael Fox in Downton Abbey (2019)
It’s not often that the indie box office overlaps with the top of the overall box office, but such was the case this weekend with Focus Features/Carnival’s “Downton Abbey,” which was only outperformed by “Where’s My Roy Cohn?” for the top per screen average.

Sony Pictures Classics’ “Where’s My Roy Cohn?” earned that top spot, opening in a traditional four-screen, Los Angeles/New York indie release and grossed $42,364 for an average of $10,591.

Directed by Matt Tyrnauer (“Scotty and the Secret History of Hollywood”), “Where’s My Roy Cohn?” compiles the history of one of America’s most infamous far-right political influencers and “fixers.” Cohn, who served as chief counsel for Sen. Joseph McCarthy during the Red Scare in the 1950s and later served as the mentor and lawyer for Donald Trump, was disbarred in 1986 for unethical conduct. The film has a 75% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Arnold Schwarzenegger knows a thing or two about the pressure men face to be seen as “manly.”

"This is going to wake a lot of people up." A trailer has arrived for the documentary The Game Changers, which first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2018. The film is about athletes and body-builders who have switched to a plant-based diet. "The Game Changers will introduce the world to elite athletes, special ops soldiers, visionary scientists, cultural icons, and everyday heroes. Each on a mission to create a seismic shift in the way we eat and live." The film is executive produced by James Cameron, and features Arnold Schwarzenegger talking about his experiences, along with many other athletes, celebrities, body-builders, doctors, and strength champions. ‘The Game Changers’ Is A Dull Warning About The Myth Of Meat [Berlin Review]
Vegans are very excited for Louie Psihoyos’s “The Game Changers.” They have high hopes for its reach and impact. You might go so far as to say that they want it to change the game. And vegans may just get their wish: “The Game Changers” is executive produced by James Cameron and features a cameo by the one and only Arnold Schwarzenegger, both of whom lend it a degree of high-profile celebrity that would be otherwise foreign to a fairly dull — if importantish —documentary about the evils of meat.

'The Game Changers': Film Review | Sundance 2018
Not the first and surely not the last film hoping to overwhelm carnivores with evidence that abandoning meats wouldn't be the kind of change they've been led to believe, Louie Psihoyos' The Game Changers puts most of its energy into profiling athletes whose amazing strength and endurance derive entirely from plant-based diets. Almost identical in shape and content to Santino Panico's recent From the Ground Up, Psihoyos' version is much more polished and slightly less likely to leave viewers feeling they've been beaten over the head with a tuber.

As in the other film, this one uses an injured athlete...
