It looks like Prince William and Kate Middleton are enjoying the last laugh. That’s because they can’t help but wonder why Meghan Markle thought it would be a good idea for her to pull the plug on her working relationship with the royal family just so she could sell jam in malls all across America.
As many of our loyal readers already know, the Duchess of Sussex has been having a hard time getting her lifestyle brand to launch. As much as Meghan wants the world to think that she’s promoting a very high-end brand, instead her products are being sold by Netflix in malls all across the country and in places like Dallas and Pittsburgh.

If some crotchety old comedian is going to cry and moan that “cancel culture” won’t let him tell his best jokes, then his “killer” material better not just be a repackaged 4chan bit from 2006.
It’s the most tired argument repeated by unremarkable comedians and unremarkable comedy fans alike — apparently, the last 10-plus years of marginalized groups gaining enough visibility in online spaces to push back on the veiled, clichéd attacks against them under the label of “edgy humor” has led to a comedy genocide that’s worse than any real-world atrocities ever committed, because this one affects white guys with podcasts. If you subscribed to any one of the many Manosphere shows dedicated to combating cancel culture in comedy, you’d think that the stand-up world is run by a secret police that destroys the career and tears up the Netflix contract of any comic brave enough to...

The Boys' Jack Quaid won't shy away from claims of him being a "nepo baby." The man known for playing civilian tech specialist Hughie Campbell in the series admits how fortunate he is to earn major opportunities in Hollywood because of his famous parents.
Speaking on The Last Laugh podcast, Quaid addressed claims of nepotism given he's the product of fellow actors, Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan. Unlike other actors branded with the nepotism tag who downplay their familial connections, Quaid welcomes it, insisting he is an "immensely privileged person" for the opportunities he's received. Quaid also doesn't look at receiving chances thanks to his parents as a bad thing either but always wants to prove he deserves them. I am an immensely privileged person, was able to get representation pretty early on and thats more than half the battle, he said. I knew the door was open for me...

Jack Quaid is admitting he agrees with being labeled a “nepo baby.”
In a new interview, the son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid owns the label.
“Yeah, I mean, no matter what I do, people are going to call attention to it,” Quaid said on The Daily Beast’s The Last Laugh podcast. “People have called me a nepo baby. I’m inclined to agree.”
He continued, “I am an immensely privileged person, was able to get representation pretty early on, and that’s more than half the battle. I knew the door was open for me in a lot of ways that it’s just not for a lot of actors. And I’ve just tried to work as hard as I possibly can to prove that I deserve to walk through that door.”
Quaid also clarified his mother’s comments defending him of the “nepo baby” label.

Last night on 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? we discovered that Angela Deem’s daughter, Skyla, may have been right about Michael Ilesanmi scamming her all along.
During her trip to Nigeria, Angela hounded Michael for failing to tell her he moved his visa interview.
Angela continued to be suspicious of Michael, and when she snatched his phone from him, her intuitions escalated.
Michael claimed he was doing research in “visa journey groups,” studying how others had gotten to America.
But what Angela found on Michael’s phone confirmed her suspicions, and she lost her cool.
Angela discovered Michael was the group administrator for a WhatsApp group called “Paradise Men.”
Michael vehemently denies scamming Angela
Although Michael claimed it was an innocent way to discuss his visa journey with like-minded men, Angela wasn’t buying it and threatened to call her immigration lawyer.

The comedian and correspondent for the Comedy Central series revealed his plans to leave the show amid its search for a new host in an interview with NPR published on Thursday. The decision to leave, according Wood, was based on the demand of the correspondent’s role on his schedule and attention, as well as a disinterest in continuing in the position while “waiting for someone else to take the top job,” according to NPR.
“I can’t come up with [what] Plan B is while still working with Plan A,” Wood said. “The job of correspondent … it’s not really one where you can juggle multiple things. [And] I think eight years is a good run.”

Seinfeld star Julia Louis-Dreyfus discusses how she fought for her character to be featured more in the sitcom. Louis-Dreyfus won an Emmy - in addition to a number of other awards and nominations - for her portrayal of Elaine Benes. Given the character's history with Jerry and her hilarious standalone stories, it's hard to imagine the seminal sitcom without her presence, but at least in the early years of Seinfeld, that's what could have happened.
In an interview on The Last Laugh podcast to promote her new movie You Hurt My Feelings, Louis-Dreyfus also discussed her time as part of the Seinfeld cast and confessed that she initially had to ask co-creators Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David to write more for her to do. The actor also discusses her approach to portraying Elaine. Read her comments below:
"I never really approached it from the perspective of my gender, per se.

Chelsea Handler is standing with the WGA strike — “obviously.” The comedian told TheWrap as much during an interview promoting her “Little Big Bitch” comedy tour, which will see Handler headlining the the Red Rocks Amphitheater near Denver on May 10 for SeriesFest.
“Obviously, I stand with the writers, absolutely, and the WGA,” Handler said. “It’s unfortunate that it has to come to this.”
To Handler, sharing profits and offering better deals to writers seems like an “obvious move” for large corporations that “make tons of money.”
“The trickle-down economics don’t necessarily work. So I think it’s the only fair thing to do, and hopefully it’ll be over sooner than later,” Handler said.
The actor and writer also spoke about potentially taking over “The Daily Show” after Trevor Noah left the late-night show in December. Comedy Central has since cycled through guest hosts on a weekly basis, with Handler hosting in February.

No film of the Hays Code era revels in its own perversity quite like Mad Love (1935). Mad science, body horror, insanity, obsession, executions, gaslighting, sadomasochism—it’s all here and presented with unparalleled excellence of craft. Though it may seem tame compared to pre-Code fare like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931), Freaks, and Island of Lost Souls (both 1932), it manages to just barely sneak its lurid subject matter by the censors under a layer of dark humor, exceptional cinematography, and a masterful performance by Peter Lorre in his first American film.

The Chad-born, France-based Mahamat-Saleh Haroun debuted his latest drama, Lingui, The Sacred Bonds, in competition at the Cannes Film Festival last summer. A formally classical vision, his morality tale follows a mother and her pregnant daughter as they navigate their next steps in Chad, a country where abortion is both illegal and condemned by religion. With Lingui now opening in theaters this Friday, courtesy of Mubi, I spoke with Haroun about seven influential films, from silent classics to international landmarks.
As David Katz said in his Cannes review of Lingui, “In Chad, whose two main languages are Arabic and French, “lingui” is a distinct term meaning a ‘bond or connection’; the film’s alternate title gives it a more pious hue—the ‘sacred bonds.’ But what’s fascinating and most novel about African cinema great Mahamat-Saleh Haroun’s new drama is the lack of an overtly religiose aura: the bonds...

Exclusive: Fledgling U.S. production firm Rivulet Media has wrapped production today in LA on writer-director Greg Pritikin’s (The Last Laugh) feature The Mistress starring John Magaro (First Cow) and Chasten Harmon (Paterson).

Plenty of beloved television shows have been revived over the years, but don’t expect “Arrested Development” to make a triumphant return.
David Cross, who portrayed Tobias Fünke on the acclaimed sitcom, discussed the show and a handful of other topics in a recent interview on The Daily Beast’s The Last Laugh podcast. Cross noted that a lack of scripts, extended shoots, and various tensions made it difficult for the cast and crew to work on the show and repeatedly stated the show would not be coming back.
“We didn’t know what we were supposed to do, things weren’t making sense to us,” he says. “And we were doing reshoots on things because somebody thought of a joke three weeks later, so we had to reshoot something for a story thing that we had no concept of what was happening. Tig Notaro was the star and creator of Amazon Prime’s comedy series “One Mississippi,” which ran for two seasons and 24 episodes between 2016 and 2017. The streaming giant canceled the show in January 2018. While Notaro intended to continue “One Mississippi” into a third season, the comedian tells The Daily Beast on this week’s episode of “The Last Laugh” podcast that she was partly excited the series was axed because it meant she would never have to think about Louis C.K. again. C.K. was an executive producer on “One Mississippi.”
