Another great part from Karen Abercrombie! 👏 Loved the main part of the film. 🎥 Music therapy is very important in my family (both husband and daughter are music therapists), but close to the end I found myself really hoping they wouldn't ruin the end; they did. 😥 But except the end, the story is good.👍
The only reason I gave 9 stars was because I felt left on a cliff by not knowing what happened with the kids. I know that the story was centered around Grace, but I wanted to know what happened with the rest of the characters. I laughed, I cried and I had my kids go back and watch the movie. Karen Ambercrombie is a great actress. I have loved everything I have seen her in.
I thought this film was just alright. I have to admit, it had some good characters. I felt for the characters' struggles and understood their issues; therefore, the writing was effective in portraying relatable characters.
However, some of the performances weren't so great. The delivery of dialogue felt unconvincing at times, and didn't have the realism it could have had.
Also, the emotional impact of certain situations were lessened by the fast-paced plot; it didn't take long before the main events were set into place.
However, the cinematography did add to the realistic feel of the film by portraying certain scenes using shots to make it feel realistic to the audience.
Overall, I have mixed feelings about this film, but this still is a pretty good movie.
This was an uplifting movie. However, as a recovering addict myself, they made rehab look like a cakewalk, and see if she just walked in was sick a few days and magically was fixed and got out. That is absolutely not the way it works. Granted, she had money and could go to a nice facility where she had a private room and all, but they did not show the facility giving her anything at all to help with her withdrawal, which can actually result in death if they don't give you something. Also showed no group meetings, none of the work that is necessary or happens in a decent rehab. Not a good movie for people who need to go to rehab.
Overall, this movie was an enjoyable experience. Loved how the characters were portrayed, as well as the plot. However, the one glaring issue I have with this movie is the frankly disrespectful background music in some of the more emotionally charged scenes. The laid-back, casual, monotonous, and disturbing elevator music really took me out of the film multiple times. Both my friend and I made multiple comments on how the background music was in no way suitable for the scene. Especially in the latter half of the film, where we see our characters' struggles, the music felt like it was taking away from the emotions the movie was trying to convey through their experiences. TL;DR Good movie, awful elevator music.
