Short and Sweet

After so many crimes docuseries that spans over 10 hours , I would like to thank Netflix for FINALLY making one that is so straight to the point. No BS like what was the defendants ambitions as a kid or what he thought abt politics or how he and his gf met or even useless back stories and interviews. So thank you again Netflix.

Beth Silverman: Ironically a criminal locking up innocent people.

The system is so corrupt and filled with holes. And I really sat here praying and wishing so hard that that prosecutor Silverman one day will get hers, that she herself or one of her children will have to go through something like this. Just for her to know..to feel what it's like. She made me nauseous the way she looked the way she acted. A criminal ironically locking up innocent people. And there are probably millions of other people in the word like her. The system is flawed..in many, many ways. It made me so mad and most of all sad.

Netflix finally nails one

See, this is how true crime documentaries are made, Netflix. I knew you had it in you to get one right eventually. Just the right length, the story told via original footage, using text exposition where necessary to move the story along, interviews to the point, and none of the rambling on or long drawn out pauses for dramatic effect. 8/10

A concise, interesting watch.

They finally did a documentary that wasn't dragged out four times longer than it needed to. I hope there are more like this to come.

Would've rated it closer to an 8 but the scoring system is terribly bad on here. Let's go IMDb. Change it to out of 100 or get some decimal points in there. Shake it up.

Incredible

On the front of the law library building near to where I live there is the famous quote, written in both French and English - It says "Leave no stone unturned". The French is "Remuer ciel et terre", literally, "shake up the sky and the earth". What happens in this documentary is closer to the sky than the earth. It is perhaps the alignment of stars, something inexplicable intertwined with something very human. If you're reading this you probably already know it's a documentary about a man who was accused of a murder. I won't say anything further because it really is quite the story, of people and actions that came together, intentionally and unintentionally.

City of Angels-a lawyer, a judge and Larry David.

Both the LA Detectives and the District Attorney should be in Jail. Those three "curbed my enthusiasm" for LA's judicial system.

On the other hand, Juan's attorney, Todd Melnik, is a saint.

Ok, time to revisit CYE S4, E6.

Could have been a little better

This is definitely an interesting story, I think it could the storytelling could have been a bit better. I didn't feel as engaged in the story as I hoped.

First 7 minutes of documentary were really messy and so hard to understand what they are talking about. Documentary was very weak, one of the worst that I've seen. Why those faces were so huge and took whole screen, I don't know, maybe for emotions but it got me only puzzled This documentary just proves again that US state prosecutors failing.

LONG SHOT is spot on

Possibly the best short film I have seen in years. Exciting, suspenseful, quick paced, full of stars, villains, energy. Everything you would want from a thriller. I think everyone who has any interest in justice, criminal or otherwise would be satisfied by this 40 minute thrill ride.

Great doc

This is a really great short documentary. The story unfolds as Juan and his lawyer try desperately to prove that he was at a dodgers game with his daughter and not off murdering a man. The show is well made and unfolds unexpectedly. A great watch and an amazing story.

Excellent documentary, incredible and amazing

The adjectives "incredible" and "amazing" have been so over-used that they have lost most of their punch. But the events and their presentation in this short film revive them. It is a well written and well paced account that exposes apparently endemic deceit and chicanery in the LA legal system. At the same time, it provides an object lesson in the importance of smart, dedicated legal work and honest, clear-eyed judicial temperament and practice.

The low scores--even attached to some positive reviews--and the cursory.dismissals are difficult to understand or credit. The film tells a mind-blowing story and tells it powerfully.

Long Shot what a great surprise ending

Wow! Love this suspenseful documentary! A movie always hits home more for me if based on reality! The length of the movie is just right and timing/crescendo really keeps you well involved and the ending really hits home! Best yet is that the defense attorney does his homework so welk to help exonerate the defendant! This is the kind of movie I told loads of friends about and was careful to tell them not to look for a review beforehand as my friends were kind enough to do for me so as not to ruin the plot! This movie makes me hunger for more like this as the plot is handled in such a great way!

Crazy, yet really eyeopening !!

I didn't know what to expect, but still decided to give this doc a try. So glad I did because it was a real eyeopener. Seems like they tried to pin that case on him just because of association & the fact he probably wouldn't have beat the case had things not turned out the way they did (not trying to spoil it for those who check reviews before watching just sayin lol) is super crazy & scary. I do however believe things happen for a reason & this definitely did for a few reasons! Must watch documentary!!
