Douglas Hodge, Natasha Little, and Colin Salmon in The Bet (2020)

The Bet

Quite good acting but a fantastical plot...

The acting done by the leads is quite good (real emotion, great chemistry, etc.) - but that's what I would expect from Natasha Little, Douglas Hodge, and Colin Salmon. The story on the other hand... You know the cringy prom trope? Where the handsome jock is dared to take the nerdy girl to prom and make her prom queen, and throughout this journey he falls in love with her? I feel as though this plot is dangerously similar to that. Frankly, this story seems like something out of a 13 year old's fanfiction. In short: the story is ridiculous, improbable, and convenient. But, if you're looking for a lighthearted, pastel, occasionally humorous movie with great performances from the leads, you've certainly found an option.

if you like chatter

Then this might be fun and strikingly good. but im just a grumpy old man, and didnt find this amusing at all, and so close up to a bore thats possible. ive seen this theater group in other appearances, and they have mot improved much. its a bet done by a wornout couple, that she can get a new fellow at the blink of an eye, and as you might guess, she does, and this is the story about the badger shes clung on to, and how to get rid of him.

everything is average here, the idea coldve been so much better developed. to me it was nothing more than a bore

Had a great time watching, terrible movie though

Watch with a friend if you want to have a great time but don't watch if you are looking for a good movie.

could have been better if...

They replaced that wimpy Albert with another actor. There were many funny bits in the film but none with that boring fart of a character, Albert.

A good heartfelt film

Good acting and dialogue. Also, a good ending. I quite enjoyed this one.

Very good movie

Its a really good movie, enjoyed watching it...very fun...the husband's comments so funny and the story line so good...so those that didnt enjoy don't spoil it for others...like the saying goes-one man's meat is another man's poison...to me it was a really good movie I didnt want it to end even...we need a part two where the salesman gets richer and they have to partner with him for their tea company etc...
