If your tired of watching movies where people don't speak like duechbags at coffee shops that read a thesaurus all day... This is the movie for you.
Not Kevin Smith, not Tarantino, you don't get to insult your viewers with useless nonsense unless you've earned it.
Interesting score, decent, though poorly executed, comedy. Sub par acting and editing.
Just don't bother unless you like to hang around pouting millennials that cope with trauma by talking down to everyone else.

Nothing really happens lives up to its name by being a dark comedy about a real loser dude with his dysfunctional girlfriend and weirdo friends. At some points, it can be disturbing, but if you dig some disturbing comedy this is your movie!

Obviously tries to be clever but so mind-numbingly boring that I couldn't make it past the halfpoint mark. Camera work is ok but that's about it.
The rave reviews here using terms like "existential", "surreal" are likely to be crew, friends and family.
Moving on...

The title is spot on! Nothing really happens, no real story, no action, no romance and no comedy!
Some guy with all types of hang ups, a wife who is uninterested and uninteresting, a neighbour to suit, a friend who is also 40 cents short of a dollar.
I am not sure what it is that I have wasted my time on!

0 stars!!! The whole story made no sense and was extremely boring. I DO NOT suggest this movie to anyone who likes high-quality films. Don't waste your time on this load of crap.

If you're looking for something unexpected - something that is as far as you can possibly get from predictable formats - then check out the remarkable story telling in Nothing Really Happens.
This film is undeniably strange but its weirdness - in the style of Being John Malkovitch - is surprisingly relatable.
There are plenty of startling plot twists and some great dialogue. Conversations that seem pointless at first become hysterically funny because the characters are so committed to them.
The changes in the movie's universe are unsettling and leave the audience to work out for itself what is really happening.
Definitely unique but well worth a watch!

Really, I promise that you have a better way to spend your time than to waste it watching this.
My husband picked it and about 20 min in, he wanted to quit. I said, naw something has got to happen, so we kept it on. He enjoyed it a little more than I, but only cuz he's going thru an existential crisis IRL. But he could only give 2-3 stars. The best thing he could say was, "well, at least we can tell they wrote a script. Like, you can tell they're not ad-libbed." In reference to the way the lines were delivered, as if they're being read.
Another review compared this to Being John Malkovich. No. Just, No. I can see where this director may have been trying for something along those lines, but truly nope. Nope.

I have no clue what this was about but growing up in Houston it somehow completely fits. Maybe that was the point, nothing really happens in Houston. Surreal all the very Houston elements, not just the locations but the people. Big probs for a StuntCock on the credits. The only stranger experience I've had watching a movie was Primer which happened to the filmed in the same UHaul my stuff was stored in. The only missing element was the Rollarblading Dancer.

Half an hour into this garbage, I had to stop and consider weather or not I can continue. Life is too short so I went and did the dishes.
So often movies nowadays follow a formula, and you feel like you've already seen it even if the details are a bit different. Not so with Nothing Really Happens. This is a really creative film that defies standard genre definitions and blends them together really well. It's part sci-fi, part comedy, some horror, but really it's about surrealism and the absurdity of life.I really appreciate when a filmmaker shows us something we haven't seen before. If you're looking for something original an out of the ordinary that will show you something new, Nothing Really Happens is for you.

If youre gonna watch this, please dont be squemish. open all the godwill wells and you will get gobsmacked by recognision. ia a crazy little flick about a young man that starts his new week the worst way possible and enters a state of acute traumatic stress disorder, with confussion, depression, amnesia and suicidal wishes to get out of the misery, the goats stare reaches miles away, and you can simply taste the desperation in his heavy thinking, what the s..t happened to me.
its a low budget film , with a small cast, and enerving score, a incoherent but well acted story. well worth a look the grumpy old man thinks.

It should be illegal to make a movie this bad. The acting is god awful. Everything is over dramatized. The conversations are entirely unnatural. The jokes are terrible. I thought for sure with a 6.8 IMDB rating it wouldn't be a waste of time. Come to find out, all of the positive reviews are from people with only 1 review (this one) on their account. Or, a handful of reviews written all on the same day to give the illusion they're not fake.

There is no talent here whatsoever. It's really is as if a group of high schoolers wrote and put this together. This 'film' is composed of random tidbits that very loosely tells a story. The writers apparently thought that awkwardness is the key to an hour and half comedy? It really belongs on YouTube as a silly series. It's more like the makers desperately wanted to make a feature film so they just threw something low quality together for the sake of ego bumps.

Well I tried to like this movie but halfway through gave up on it.Seems like the ratings on here are a bit skewed imo. Could have been an ok film but failed .

A good take on pursuing genuine connection in the face of existential isolation, and the dangers of meddling too much with a mind. Very self-aware, very tongue-in-cheek, and clearly not made to appeal to everyone, but quite appealing to those for whom it is made.
A most fun ride in this unique indie film filled with comedy, sci-fi plot and hilarious characters. You have to feel sorry for the mattress store owner. His wife is constantly nagging and now his mattresses are reported to have bed bugs. It's a slow ride to insanity for this guy but the ride is filled with humor and keeps you guessing if what you are seeing is real or imaginary. Great writing and the actors are on point for this plot line and style. Great job all around and a fun time to watch.

I decided to give this movie a shot after stumbling across it on Amazon and I was hooked immediately. The cast is hilarious and that plot isn't like anything I've seen recently, you should definitely check it out if you have the chance!
As a big fan of existential philosophy and all things absurd, this was pure gold! It had the feel of Charlie Kaufman's Adaptation and Being John Malkovich blended with elements of Donnie Darko minus the recognizable name talent. Characters grappling with life's biggest issues and the most ridiculous of ways. Lots of laughs and lots to think about here. Great flick!

This movie was strange and surreal in all the best ways. I thoroughly enjoyed the dialogue and character interactions which kept the pace of the movie and story moving along and made it an interesting film to watch. If you are looking for a unique and engaging horror film, then I highly recommend you check this film out.

This is a mind bending adventure into the mundane nature of life and the insecurities that beguile and cripple us. An intriguing film that is better watched with full submission into the premise as little as it seems. The filmmaker is not striving for any semblance of realism, which makes the film that much more intriguing. The dialogue is clever and rife with metaphor, the characters are interesting and each represent different aspects of the human condition. It's unlike any other film I've seen and stands out as an intelligent a trippy indie film.

This surreal indie is one full of heart and clear direction. Some of the scene are actually quite funny in a weird "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" kinda way. Actually now that I think of this is does have a similar tone to that movie but more surreal.
They take a lot of camera risks and this is a great w film for indie filmmakers to see to see some of this ricks in action. I love the surreal take on the world and were that takes the camera work visually. Kudos!
