A Copy of Duel

I watched this movie on Amazon Prime, the movie is a copy of Duel with a back story and an extra female character, the chase scenes were exactly the same and just like Duel they also used a red Classic Sedan and Huge old Oil truck, If you have already watched Duel you will not like it but if you have not you might find it thrilling.

Molecule Review: Overtake

Whatever maybe the inspiration for making this, John Joseph's thriller drama Overtake certainly keeps you hooked as it begins narrating. The story of a young couple who take the scenic route from Bangalore to Kochi to lead a life away from the city hustle bustle is what lies in the surface of this film. But as it moves ahead, you begin to wonder why there's a truck trying to kill this couple. It's a watchable thriller which starts off and builds well with the only biggest problem appearing after an hour: the chase sequences go on and on and on. Director Joseph uses all his precious running time to create these redundant chase sequences that get tiring after a few minutes. The truck seems to have superhero powers as it shows up everywhere, making me also question the logicality of the plot. That, coupled with Parvathy Nair's horrible acting, are what puts Overtake in the "average film" section of Malayalam history. Otherwise, it's a cool afternoon watch and something that can be discussed at length because the final few minutes are fodder for a family debate. Go for it if you can rent the DVD. TN.

Road chase scenes are thrilling

I think, the movie Overtake is inspired from Spielberg's movie Duel. Road chase scenes are thrilling, but the reason behind that plot is disappointing. Locations and road chases are fine.

Miserable attempt at copying a Spielberg movie

First half an hour drags and you wonder where this movie is heading to. The next part of the movie an attempt to copy a Spielberg movie frame to frame. Miserable direction and screenplay. Camera is the only saving grace, along with sound. We need more original movies, and not weak attempts to copy successful western movies. Thumbs down!

Badly executed inspiration

Watched this movie with great expectations, but all shattered to ground... Story line matters , direction matters and then only technology can do something..

More than an hour of road chase with some childish sub plots. Dsiappaointing

They shouldn't have deviated from the original theme. The sub plots, though minor were totally off the track, no pun intended! This could have been done with some good director and screenplay, considering the rustic locales and good camera work - that would have lifted the movie from a work of amateurs to a serious entertainer.

Khan Review - Poor copycat

Many hollywood movies are made on road rage and equal numbers are flop except few. This movie is copy from hollywood but even after copy paste they were not able to make a watchable film. Can't blame the actors they honestly tried as per their capability but the director and the writer who copied but still did not use his brain. Atleast in West the chase is justified with remote highways with no one in sight but here the actors a made to look dumb even after reaching few places with people around they dont use their common sense to take help Or call police instead they are jumping in and out of car as if they are enjoying to get killed by the truck.
