Powered by Dolby Creator Lab, Antigravity’s Short Film Studio will provide filmmakers with access to the technologies of Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos in the making of a short film, along with Antigravity’s hands-on development and production support.

Open to U.S.-based filmmakers over the age of 18 who have no prior feature film or television experience, the program’s inaugural session with produce three shorts, finished in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Each creative participating will receive a $35,000 production grant.

The latest collaboration between Netflix and Executive Producers The Duffer Brothers (“Stranger Things”) is the supernatural mystery series “The Boroughs.” Per Variety, six new cast members have been added, including actors Dee Wallace and Ed Begley Jr. (Strange Darling).

Rafael Casal, Jane Kaczmarek (“The Changeling”), Eric Edelstein, and Mousa Hussein Kraish have also joined the cast.

The logline for the upcoming series sounds like a blend of “Stranger Things“ and Cocoon that sees Senior citizens saving the world from an otherworldly threat. The official logline:

Top choreographers from film, television, and digital media celebrated remarkable achievements at the World Choreography Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday. The event highlighted the changing landscape of dance performance across different entertainment channels.

Fatima Robinson was a standout winner in the Motion Picture category for her revolutionary work on “The Color Purple.” Her choreography for the musical piece “Push da Button” surprised judges with its innovative mix of dance forms, which included hip-hop, African dance, tap, jazz, and Jamaican moves. Robinson intentionally used accessories such as handkerchiefs, scarves, and canes to enhance Taraji P. Henson’s performance.

“I gave her movements, so she had somewhere to go, and it wasn’t just a flat performance on stage,” Robinson said of her choreography approach for the piece.

“What’s Left Behind” is an apt title for the ninth episode of FX limited series American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez. With Odin Lloyd’s murder tackled in episode eight, Hernandez (played by Josh Rivera) clearly reached the point of no return. Waving off the police who show up to his home in the night to ask him questions as they investigate Lloyd’s (played by J. Alex Brinson) murder is a very temporary fix. By the episode’s end, Hernandez’s fiancée, Shayanna “Shay” Jenkins, with whom he shared the home, is caught between her man and child’s father and her younger sister Shaneah Jenkins, who is literally grieving the loss of her partner, Odin, on the couch in that home.

Episode nine focuses squarely on Jenkins as her world begins to crumble after Hernandez is arrested...

Alanna Brown will direct the modern-day retelling of the iconic biblical love story following Ruth and Boaz. Set in Tennessee, “R&b” is about a young woman who escapes the Atlanta music scene to care for an elderly widowed woman, and in the process finds the love of her life and gains the mother she never had.

Michael Elliot (“Brown Sugar”) and Cory Tynan (“Play’d”) penned the script for the project, which will be produced by Franklin and Perry. Angi Bones, Tony L. Strickland and Bart Lipton executive produce.

Daveed Diggs has been cast in the fifth and final season of “The Boys,” Variety has learned.

It was announced in June that “The Boys” would be ending with Season 5. Exact character details are being kept under wraps, but Diggs will appear in a series regular role in the Amazon Prime Video series. Ryan Murphy is back at it with another installation of his “American Story” franchise. The long-awaited “American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez” centers on the rise and fall of former NFL star Aaron Hernandez.

It’s been three years since the series was first announced in August 2021, and now with the cast finalized and production wrapped, the project is right around the corner in a living room near you. “West Side Story” and “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” breakout Josh Rivera stars as Hernandez and here makes his TV debut.

Daveed Diggs and Emmy Raver-Lampman are officially parents!

The 42-year-old Blindspotting star and the 35-year-old Umbrella Academy actress announced that they have recently welcomed their first child together.

The longtime couple revealed the exciting news in a joint post on Instagram.

Emmy also joked about the lack of sleep they’re getting with the newborn.

“thank you for choosing us. now please…go the f*ck to sleep. love, mom and dad. ♥️,” she concluded the post.

Daveed and Emmy first announced they were expecting back in September.

The couple met while performing in the original cast of Hamilton on Broadway back in 2015.

Exclusive: Actor Tiago Roberts has signed with Gm Management for representation.

Roberts most recently can be seen portraying Gabriel Ibarra in the Paramount + series Fatal Attraction, opposite Joshua Jackson and Lizzy Caplan. He also recently played a supporting role opposite Eddie Murphy in holiday movie Candy Cane Lane on Prime Video, as well as a supporting lead role in Lionsgate’s Righteous Thieves, starring Cam Giganet.

Neither a direct follow-up to director Jan de Bont's 1996 natural disaster thriller nor a complete reboot of the franchise, "Twisters" follows a new team of storm chasers as they battle destructive cyclones in the present day. Apparently, at one point, "Twister" star Helen Hunt and "Blindspotting" co-writers/co-stars Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal pitched a proper legacy sequel that, according to Hunt, would've focused on "all Black and Brown storm chasers." However, the studio powers that be didn't go for it for "potentially shady" reasons, as Diggs told Business Insider last year.

Starz has opted to cancel Minx, the comedy about the first porn magazine for women, after a two-season run. The news comes after the series from creator Ellen Rapoport was originally developed for Warner Bros. Discovery streamer Max, which aired the first season and paid for a second before ultimately scrapping the show as a tax write-off with mere days remaining before production on the sophomore run was completed.

Minx was shopped by producers Lionsgate Television with the studio ultimately setting up the comedy starring Jake Johnson and Ophelia Lovibond at Starz, which is currently controlled by its parent company, Lionsgate. Max effectively paid to produce season two, with Lionsgate footing the bill to complete production and market season two. The second season premiered in July, in the thick of the writers and performers’ strikes making it challenging for cast members and producers to promote the show’s return.

Lil Nas X’s concert documentary that captured his first global tour is coming to HBO.

Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero will debut on the network on Jan. 27 at 8 p.m. Et; it will also stream on Max. The film had its world premiere at last year’s Toronto Film Festival.

The documentary follows the Grammy-winning rapper, born Montero Hill, over 60 days as he performs on his Long Live Montero tour, which supported Montero, his full-length 2021 debut album. Starz is bidding farewell to another show.

The Lionsgate-backed premium cable network on Tuesday announced that crime drama Hightown, starring Monica Raymund, will conclude with its third season. Season three of the series from showrunner Rebecca Cutter (Gotham) will debut Friday, Jan. 26, on Starz.

Hightown is the latest series to get the ax at Starz. The cabler recently cleaned house and canceled Blindspotting, Heels and Run the World after two seasons each and dropped The Venery of Samantha Bird with only two episodes left to produce.

The conclusion of Hightown leaves Starz with a roster of originals that includes Black Mafia Family, Outlander, P-Valley, the Power franchise and Shining Vale. Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Carlos López Estrada is launching the Antigravity Academy Screenwriters Camp, a program designed to develop and package five features from first-time emerging filmmakers.

The program will be run by Abiram Brizuela, Antigravity’s head of incubator, and backed by independent film financier and Unapologetic Projects co-ceo Chris Quintos Cathcart. Brizuela is the executive director of The Unusual Suspects Theater Company and previously served as director of artist community at the Sundance Institute.

“This is a program built out of necessity. We’ve met hundreds of incredible filmmakers waiting to be seen. Filmmakers who anchor their stories on their own identity and explore the nuances of life from unprecedented perspectives,” stated Brizuela and López Estrada. “We’re proud to provide a platform where these storytellers can exchange ideas, engage in artistic practice, explore the power of their creative voice, and ultimately find a path forward for their films.

The Lionsgate-backed premium cable network has renewed Power Book III: Raising Kanan for a fourth season mere days before the third cycle of the spinoff series returns.

“We’re thrilled to continue Kanan Stark’s story, and for fans to see how the events of his formative adolescent years continue to mold him into the cold-hearted villain they were first introduced to in Power. We are quite sure that after viewers see the battle lines being drawn between Raq and Kanan on this epic upcoming third season that they will demand more,” said Kathryn Busby, president of original programming at Starz.

“Trolls Band Together” — the latest entry in DreamWorks Animation’s family friendly franchise — brings together some of the biggest names in movies and music.

Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick reprise their roles from the previous “Trolls” films as Branch and Poppy, respectively. The two are now officially a couple, but when Branch’s boyband past comes back to haunt him, the Trolls embark on another music- and fun-filled adventure.
