Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is another MCU movie that was in a constant state of flux while shooting. Neither director Sam Raimi nor writer Michael Waldron had seen WandaVision when work on the sequel began, leading to a take on the Scarlet Witch that disappointed many fans.
The last time we saw Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff, she had broken bad and was seemingly crushed beneath Mount Wundagore. The expectation is that she'll return in Avengers: Doomsday and rumour has it the hero will be allied with Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom.
The Playlist recently spoke with Olsen for her new movie The Assessment and wondered whether the Scarlet Witch's villainous turn was always planned or whether it was a decision made during additional photography.
"I actually wasn’t a part of the reshoots," she confirmed. "I was filming [HBO’s limited series] 'Love and Death.' So, what I did is what stayed.

Rumours about Colman Domingo joining the MCU have persisted for years. The Sing Sing star was initially named the frontrunner to take over from Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror after his firing, though Marvel Studios has since pivoted to Doctor Doom and Robert Downey Jr.
Talking to Josh Horowitz, Domingo admitted he was surprised to see so much chatter online about him potentially playing Kang. In fact, he reached out to his agents for clarification about whether they were discussing the role on his behalf!
"Listen, after a while, when it was constantly in the press and on places like Twitter, I was like, 'Wait a minute, is this true? Am I being talked about for Kang?'" the actor said. "I called up my team and said, 'Are you having conversations I don't know anything about?' They [said], 'No.'"

Marvel Studios had huge plans for Kang the Conqueror prior to actor Jonathan Majors being dropped from the role after being convicted of assault, and while the character is still expected to feature in the MCU in some capacity going forward, we still don't know exactly what Kevin Feige and co. have in store for the powerful villain.
Though Avengers 5 is no longer titled "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty," previous reports have claimed that the character will still appear in a greatly reduced role.
Back in January, Deadline's Justin Kroll responded to the rumor that Coleman Domingo was being eyed to replace Majors.
"See a lot 'who will play Kang next' and 'here is a top contender for Kang' comments this week, and all I’ll say is this, don’t expect that news anytime soon," Kroll wrote in an X post. "There will be plenty of Marvel breaks in...

"You don't recognize me, do you? Even though we've met a thousand times..." Breaking Glass Pictures has revealed a new trailer for a strange time travel sci-fi thriller titled Variant, which is written & directed by a filmmaker named Tony Leech (he also co-directed 2005's Hoodwinked). This hasn't been seen many places yet and doesn't look like it's really anything worth talking about, another of these junk indie sci-fi films that will be instantly forgotten upon release. Huh. When an artist struggling for purpose meets a mysterious yet charming stranger, she becomes entangled in his twisted attempts to "relive the perfect moment". It's hard to tell from this trailer - is he an android? Does he have a time machine? Are they in a simulation? Wtf is going on in this. Ashlynn Yennie stars with Dino Antoniou, Sonalii Castillo, Josh Zuckerman, and Chelsea Yakura-Kurtz. This really looks like one big mess.

Tony Vinciquerra, CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, says a decision to release Venom: Let There Be Carnage two weeks early shows the film studio “demonstrating our confidence that people will be going to the movies, if the Delta Variant seems to be receding a bit.” He says that was the clear takeaway from Disney’s strong Labor Day weekend release of Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings.
The Spe chief also told a media conference Monday that, “There are probably too many films studios and we may see one or two less over the next five to ten years.”
“But I think the next consolidation will be in the game business” — one that Sony knowns well — he said in a virtual Q&a at the Bank Of America Merrill Lynch Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference.

Disney said today that the remaining films on its 2021 slate will get an exclusive theatrical window before arriving in homes — major news for a studio that’s gotten endless flak and been hit with a very high-profile lawsuit for its day-and-date releases on Disney+. Blockbuster numbers last weekend for Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which wasn’t available to stream, likely sealed the deal, showing moviegoers are increasingly willing to return to cinemas.
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Encanto will bow November 24 with a 30-day exclusive theatrical window before appearing on Disney+. Five other pics will have a 45-day exclusive run in cinemas: The Last Duel (October 15), Ron’s Gone Wrong (October 22), Eternals (November 5), West Side Story (December 10) and The King’s Man (December 22).

The Delta Variant, streaming wars and surging piracy loom large as CinemaCon launches Sunday at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, the first in-person gathering of theaters owners and Hollywood studios since the pandemic struck 18-months ago. The virus has slashed registered attendees to circa 2,000 from 3,500 pre-pandemic, with a sizeable European contingent entirely shut out by U.S. travel restrictions. The annual gathering, where studios showcase first-look clips of upcoming films plus select stars for cinema owners, hits at a crossroad for exhibition as it struggles back from the brink. NATO President & CEO John Fithian and MPA Chairman-ceo Charles Rivkin fielded questions from Deadline on the evolving relationship between the two camps and future of their industry. (Some responses are condensed and edited for clarity.)
First, with Delta spreading, did you consider postponing CinemaCon or going virtual?
Fithian: We in the movie theater business are about people sitting in a big auditorium.

With many studios on rocky ground when it comes to how and when to release their big movies, Paramount have made another unexpected move even by pandemic standards by announcing the release of Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins to digital and on-demand services will be tomorrow on August 17th, only 25 days after it released exclusively in theaters. While most movies premiering in cinemas without a dual release on a streaming platform have an exclusive 45 days before they air elsewhere, but now Paramount have bucked that particular short-lived trend with one of their first movies to attempt the strategy lasting less than half the exclusive period.
Although the movie was hyped up massively by the studio prior to its release, Snake Eyes didn't really live up to its potential, even when just stacked up alongside other pandemic releases. It is likely that this has been the driver behind Paramount's decision to...

Photo: ‘Loki’/Disney+ Recap and Revelations In Loki Episode 2 - titled ‘Variant,’ we delve further into new, uncharted MCU territory introduced in the Pilot. Realizing he cannot return to his timeline, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) resorts to helping the Time Variance Authority find their troublemaker – a dangerous Variant threatening the health of the Sacred Timeline, killing the Tva’s Minute-Men at various points in history and escaping each time. The catch? This Variant is Loki himself, or at least an alternate version of him from a different timeline. In lieu of going through the episode beat by beat, here is the most important info we’ve learned in ‘Variant’. This article contains spoilers for Marvel’s Loki episode 2.
For the bulk of Marvel’s Loki episode 2, titled “The Variant,” the God of Mischief (Tom Hiddleston) teams with the Time Variance Authority’s Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) to chase a timeline variant who, according to Mobius, is an alternate version of Loki himself.
The variant is killing the Tva’s Minutemen and collecting their timeline reset charges, which points to the variant having more on the agenda than just hopping through time murdering people. But when the variant is tracked to a Roxxcart superstore in Alabama, circa 2050, and finally confronts the “original” Loki, the latter gets a shock.
The variant is a woman (played by Sophia di Martino) who — judging by her demeanor and the golden horns on her head — at least appears to be a female version of Loki. She vanishes into a time portal and the original Loki jumps after her,...

If you believed that Loki turned over a new leaf after Loki Season 1 Episode 1, you clearly have not watched any Thor films.
The God of Mischief always has a second agenda, which was made obvious on Loki Season 1 Episode 2. Though, it can be difficult at times to interpret his true motives.
As Loki said, no one good is truly good, and no one evil is truly evil. The world is not black and white, and that's the reason why Loki is such an interesting character to discuss and dissect.
During Loki's first crime scene, he tried to fool Mobius into giving him a meeting with the Time Keepers. His plan would have worked, but he underestimated Mobius's ability to see right through him.
This is the same Loki we have seen on the Thor films and the first Avengers film. He thinks so highly of himself and so low of...

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo — spooked like much of the nation at a more infectious Covid-19 strain identified in the UK – asked the federal government to require that airlines test all passengers on U.S.-bound flights. He clinched an unusual private arrangement with three of them, Delta, British Air and Virgin Atlantic, which agreed to test people flying from the UK to New York. But that doesn’t stop flights to other states, risking a replay of early 2020 when the virus first snuck in from Europe.
The three carriers now have testing agreements with 120 countries, and with New York. “I called the airlines and asked to be added to a country protocol, and they agreed” voluntarily, Cuomo said at a Tuesday press briefing. The federal government controls U.S. borders. “This is to me a redux of the spring,” he said. “It’s coming from Europe. It’s so frustrating.
