      Exaggerated movie

The storyline is good but I blame for the directorship that created so much coincidences, exaggerations, illogical fighting moves and against natural body movements. I do not why its nominated, perhaps HK movie had deteriorated like in years 2000s creating massive lousy movie just only to make money. Another reason is the judges for these awards are low standards and non real critics. The wave is fake and it created a Rambo 1 fight against 100? Everywhere has guns nowadays and they still use 1 small knife to fight in a storm? The worst, why only the boss carry a knife? The whole scene only use knife as though we are still in the 80s that guns are still too expensive to own. There are a lot of illogical scenes that the director had ignored and does not make any sense. I only can give this movie slightly above average according to HK movie standards.

Jin Zhang cop vs dangerous fisherman.

Good action movie with well story about gold mafia over the sea. Jin Zhang is here a aggressive cop but kind too victim's family. Villian is a ambitious fisherman who became dangerous for gold. Good photography of sea side in night and tension full fight sequences under water are highlighted part of the movie. One time watchable

Can You Say Over the Top?

Maverick cop Cheng is briefly jailed when his reckless actions against a vicious gang accidentally get a fellow officer killed, but he is released for lack of evidence and is determined to track down the gang leader Jiang, a fisherman who covets his crime boss's stash of gold. Trouble is, the gold is hidden in international waters, and there's a typhoon on the way....I don't see many action films, in fact usually only see international ones at FantAsia, so I don't know if it's standard for such films to be so completely over the top - as in, how can the (anti)hero survive *that*? In this case, it's that both villain and anti-hero seem able to stay underwater for, oh, 15 minutes or so without the benefit of scuba diving equipment, for example. Certainly the action is constant and keeps ratcheting up, but the characters are all scumbags and at some point I lost interest in the film and, well, I also lost my suspension of disbelief.

Still failed to get out of the tradition of Hong Kong-style

Still failed to get out of the tradition of Hong Kong-style gangster gangsters. The plot is very weak. The fight is good but it's dark. I don't know what's in the director's mind.

All that gold for what ?

The Brink is easy one of the best action movie from Hong Kong for many reasons. The action is very well choreograph with a stylish direction from Jonathan Li who previously worked for Cheang Pou-soi so you can see the similar between The Brink and SPL series but as a stand alone movie for Jin Zhang after playing many bad guy role in the past this is the best movie from him so far.Shawn Yue as the main villain is menacing and through out the movie he face off with Jin Zhang many times but I will appreciate more if the movie let them duking out a little bit more in the climax
