Bogieville Gets June 2025 US & UK Release Dates: [From the Press Release] The highly anticipated southern-fried vampire road movie “Bogieville”, directed by acclaimed British filmmaker and actor Sean Cronin, has been picked up by Level 33 Entertainment for a North American release on June 3, 2025 and by Trinity Creative Partnership for a UK release perfectly timed for Friday the 13th in June, 2025, on VOD via Amazon, Apple TV and Fandango at Home, among other premium digital channels.

Second Sight Publishing recently announced "More Chills and Thrills" in the next Shook! horror anthology graphic novel Songs Of The Dark Sirens. It's due out this October from Second Sight Publishing and Dark Horse Comics, and I caught up with Second Sight Publishing's Bradley Golden for our latest Q&a, talking horror influences, upcoming titles, and advice for creators. Where did your love of horror come from? Is there a particular film, book, or comic that made you a lifelong horror fan?

Bradley Golden: My love for horror stems from my childhood. As a child with a speech impediment, I didn’t have many friends. I had to rely on comics and horror movies to keep me company. I remember the first movie I ever saw was a B horror movie called House!

Updated: There has been another round of content removal from Disney+, this time in the Emea region, which consists of Europe, the Middle East and Africa. More than 120 titles have been taken off this week, primarily Disney Channel original movies and vintage Disney live-action films, as well as a few series, including Zeke and Luther, Pepper Ann, So Random and the first three seasons of Nat Geo’s Genius and ESPN/Nat Geo docs.

According to sources, the takedowns were a result of a library title review. There have been several content purges at Disney+ over the last year amid cost-cutting, most notably the removal of a slew of original series last May.

As global streamers like Netflix and Amazon Prime finally make inroads in Africa, Nigerian-Canadian filmmaker Lonzo Nzekwe is enjoying his moment in the sun at the Toronto Film Festival.

CAA Media Finance boarded Nzekwe’s Nigeria-set Canadian revenge thriller Orah with worldwide representation, excluding Canada, just before the feature that stars Star Trek: Discovery actor Oyin Oladejo in the titular role had a prestigious TIFF market screening on Monday night as part of the festival’s expanded Industry Selects program.

The film, with a script 12 years in the making and shot in Canada and Nigeria, marks a triumph for Nzekwe, who like fellow black Canadian filmmakers long had his work neglected, ignored or dismissed before a Canadian industry reckoning after the murder of George Floyd finally diverted meaningful local financing to underrepresented creators.

Succession actor Saamer Usmani and Coda actress Amy Forsyth have nabbed lead roles in Amar Wala’s debut scripted feature Shook, which is shooting in Toronto.

The indie from Film Forge (Infinity Pool, Sleeping Giant) and producer Karen Harnisch and Wala’s banner, Scarborough Pictures, centers on a South Asian family in Toronto and the suburb of Scarborough. Wala is directing Shook based on a script he co-wrote with novelist Adnan Khan.

Usmani, who also had a role in Inventing Anna and The Three Body Problem, will play the role of Ashish who, while living in downtown Toronto, meets Claire, played by Forsyth, who is about to move to Montreal at the end of the summer.

Marvel has continued to have its fun on Disney+ with Moon Knight currently plugging away through its six episode season. With its list of new releases for May 2022, however, Disney+ is making clear that it’s time for some more Star Wars.

The biggest title this month is undoubtedly Obi-Wan Kenobi with two episodes premiering on May 27. Ewan McGregor reprises his role from the Star Wars prequel films to portray the beloved last Jedi (for now) in the six-episode series. Details about the plot are already starting to trickle out so steer clear as best you can if you want an unspoiled experience. That and the Moon Knight finale on May 4 is all she wrote for Disney’s big franchises this month. There are still some other cool options to consider.

The Writers’ Guild of Great Britain (Wggb) has unveiled the shortlist for its annual awards, with nominees including “Promising Young Woman” scribe Emerald Fennell and “Succession” writer Lucy Prebble, who’s been nominated for her Billie Piper series “I Hate Suzie.”

The awards, which will be handed out on Feb. 14 in central London, will cover two years of British writing, after last year’s awards were cancelled due to the pandemic.

Vertical Entertainment continues to grow its international business and is in talks on a virtual Cannes market slate led by thriller Last Survivors starring Alicia Silverstone and civil rights drama Son Of The South executive produced by Spike Lee.

Head of international sales and distribution Ryan Keller and his team have been taking meetings this week on the international sales roster, which includes sci-fi thriller Risen, horror Shook, thriller Stalker, and The Resort. All titles are completed and Vertical will distribute in the US.
