Jed Mercurio serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the series under his Hat Trick Mercurio (Htm) banner.

Get ready to revisit one of the most legendary duos in action movie history – without spending a dime. Lethal Weapon, the 1987 buddy-cop classic, and its three sequels that helped redefine the genre and launched a billion imitators, are heading to Pluto TV this July. With its 80% Rotten Tomatoes score, explosive action, and endlessly quotable banter between Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, it’s exactly the kind of comfort movie that’s somehow still better than most of what’s in theaters today. And obviously, it still slaps. The movie is the blueprint for how to do a buddy-cop movie.
You know the setup: Two wildly mismatched cops are forced to work together. One’s a loose cannon (Gibson’s Martin Riggs), the other is days from retirement (Glover’s Roger Murtaugh). What could go wrong? Everything, obviously. But in the hands of director Richard Donner and a then-unknown screenwriter named Shane Black,...

The Kevin Bacon-starring The Bondsman will not be bailed out, having been canceled after just one season at Prime Video.
The supernatural action series from Blumhouse Television had a loyal fanbase, who were left with a completely unfinished story. The season one finale set up the intended second nicely, but sadly, those fans will never get to see how the story could have progressed. We also really dug the season, with our own Alex Maidy giving it an 8/10 and saying it was one of the most fun horror series he’s come across in a while.

Jurassic World Rebirth: Scarlett Johansson Fights To Survive In New Photos From Upcoming Dino Sequel
As part of their summer movie previews, Entertainment Weekly, ScreenRant, and Empire have shared new stills from Jurassic World Rebirth, offering a killer new look at the franchise's newest leading lady Scarlett Johansson, who plays covert operations expert Zora Bennett, doing her best to survive all kinds of dino carnage.
Aside from a handful of brief glimpses, the early images from the film reveal remarkably few dinosaurs—likely because the production is keeping the Distortus rex and any other mutant dinos on the island tightly under wraps, so we'll just have to strap in this Fourth of July for all kinds of mayhem.
With How to Train Your Dragon due out in theaters in June, it seems highly probable that a new trailer for Rebirth will be arriving online sometime before the end of this month as they begin to ramp up the marketing campaign for an epic Jurassic June.

Blumhouse's never-ending slate of projects has continued most recently with their latest collaboration with Prime Video, The Bondsman. Starring the iconic Kevin Bacon as a grumpy bounty hunter, Hub Halloran, who must adapt his ways to start hunting demons, The Bondsman boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes the likes of Damon Herriman, Jennifer Nettles, Beth Grant, Maxwell Jenkins, and Jolene Purdy.
An enticing premise and strong ensemble have clearly paid off for Blumhouse, with the series already returning a positive score from review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, with critics awarding The Bondsman an 85% score so far. From top critics alone, the series boasts a less-impressive 60%, albeit from just five reviews. The latter score is closer to the review from Collider's Aidan Kelley, who gave the series a 6/10 and cited great supporting characters and a promising finale as positives but a lack of world-building and originality as negatives. Kelley concluded:...

Bloat follows Jack, a soldier whose family is trying to move past a recent personal tragedy. To facilitate this healing process, Jack books a family vacation to Japan for his wife, Hannah, and their children. However, before he can join them, a sudden escalation in tensions in the Middle East forces him to remain at his post, leaving him able to interact with his family only through digital means. Their trip takes a terrifying turn when Kyle their youngest child, has a near-fatal accident in a lake. Though he survives, the incident serves as an entry point for a supernatural entity – a kappa or river child, a water demon from Japanese folklore – to take possession of him.

Kevin Bacon is no stranger to horror, following roles in Friday the 13th, Tremors, Stir of Echoes and the television series The Following, to name a few. It's a genre that has served him well and that could be why he's returning to it with the new Prime Video limited series The Bondsman. The first trailer for the series has been released, and it finds Bacon playing a bounty hunter who has awakened from the dead to find his job has an added supernatural element.
Created by Grainger David, The Bondsman stars Bacon as Hub Halloran, a bounty hunter who was murdered and ends up getting a new shot at life with a demonic twist. His new job is to recapture escaped demons from Hell for the Devil after Lucifer resurrects him. Should Halloran fail in his new mission, he will be "terminated," as Jolene Purdy's Midge tells him...

One of my favorite types of movie to watch is the wilderness-set slasher movie, particularly summer camp slashers, with my favorite film franchise being Friday the 13th. I’m always on the lookout for a new summer camp slasher to watch – which is why the trailer for Marshmallow caught my eye. Hemlock Circle Productions will be giving this film a theatrical release on April 11th, and the trailer can be seen in the embed above.
The feature directorial debut of Daniel DelPurgatorio, who co-directed the animated short film Tales of the Black Freighter (which tied in with Zack Snyder’s version of Watchmen), Marshmallow centers on Morgan (played by Kue Lawrence of The Amityville Murders), an introverted 12-year-old suffering from nightmares who heads to a secluded summer camp. Morgan realizes that a spooky campfire story about the camp has come to life as a mysterious figure starts to stalk the campers,...

“Dexter: Resurrection” is bringing three franchise veterans into the fold.
David Zayas, James Remar, and Jack Alcott have all been cast in series regular roles in the upcoming Paramount+ with Showtime drama. They will now appear alongside Michael C. Hall, who will reprise the role of Dexter Morgan.
Zayas will once again play Det. Angel Batista, while Remar will play Harry Morgan, the roles they played in the original “Dexter.” Alcott will play Harrison Morgan, Dexter’s son, who first appeared in the sequel series “Dexter: New Blood” in 2021.
Production on “Dexter: Resurrection” is set to begin in January with a planned debut in the summer. No specific plot details are available for “Resurrection,” but the series will serve as a direct followup to “New Blood.”
In addition to his role in “Dexter,” Remar is known for his work in shows like “Sex and the City” and “City on a Hill.

Exclusive: David Zayas, Jack Alcott and James Remar will join Michael C. Hall in the Paramount+ with Showtime Original series Dexter: Resurrection in series regular roles. Production begins on the new series this month and will premiere in the summer.
Zayas and Remar will return to the roles they made famous in the mothership series, Detective Angel Batista and Harry Morgan, Dexter’s father, respectively. Alcott will play Dexter’s son, Harrison Morgan, who he originally portrayed in Dexter: New Blood, the original series’ sequel that launched in 2021.
How Remar will return on a series regular basis will be interesting to see considering his character has been dead for quite some time. However, with Dexter: New Blood bleeding (pun not intended) into Dexter: Original Sin via the latter’s premiere, that might be a way in.

New to Prime Video on November 14, 2024, Cross is the latest adaptation based on the James Patterson fictional detective. The dramatic crime series concerns the investigative exploits of Alex Cross (Aldis Hodge), a skilled forensic expert and criminal psychologist who delves into the twisted minds of those he apprehends to understand their violent behavior.
Denzel Washington and Tyler Perry famously portrayed the character in the panned movies Kiss the Girls, Along Came a Spider, and Alex Cross, allowing Aldis Hodge to repair the character's reputation in the new TV adaptation. Those tuning into Prime Video to see how faithfully the show adapts Patterson's popular source novels will recognize the talented supporting cast from several recent movies and TV shows. Black Adam star Aldis Hodge has stepped into the role created by novelist James Patterson and originated on the screen by the iconic Morgan Freeman. It's a departure from the other TV parts he's known for, but he's collaborating with his colleagues and costars -- most notably Isaiah Mustafa as Cross's longtime best friend and fellow detective, John Sampson.
Cross and Sampson are each other's rocks to lean on as the disturbing season unfolds, and Cbr spoke to both Hodge and Boy Kills World actor Mustafa about the dynamic between their characters, which is also the foundation of the series. Find out the one scene that struck them as their most impressive. Plus, Hodge opened up about how he sees the "responsibility" of Cross -- both in front of and behind the camera.

Cross is an adaptation done right.
Unsurprisingly, Aldis Hodge brings the titular character to life, making this iconic hero his own mere seconds into the season premiere.
He doesn’t release his hold on the audience, as he completely captivates them, and moves them with his portrayal until the credits roll in the season finale.
(Keri Anderson/Prime Video)
But again, it’s no surprise, as from Leverage and Underground to City on a Hill, he has not only shown off his range throughout his career but has proven to be a powerhouse performer.
Cross was made for him; he distinguishes himself from previous iterations and his predecessors, Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry, thus delivering the best adaptation.

The following contains light spoilers for Cross Season 1, which premieres Thursday, Nov. 14 on Prime Video. It also contains discussion of violence.
Prime Video's Cross is the worthy successor to Amazon's epic adaptation of Bosch. It's another gritty, intense detective series based on a hit collection of books, with an absolutely perfect choice for the lead role. Aldis Hodge, beloved for Leverage and who was terribly underrated in City on a Hill, is unquestionably front and center in this series. And almost immediately, he makes Detective Alex Cross his own.
Cross is based on the characters from author James Patterson's Alex Cross novels, but it's not a direct adaptation of any book. Instead, executive producer Ben Watkins (who created Hand of God for Amazon) goes his own direction; sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. But inspired casting throughout and Watkins' commitment to thoroughly developing every single character make Cross...

About six years ago, one Alex Cross passed the torch to another. In 2018, Aldis Hodge had the title role in the film Brian Banks, about a real-life star football player who was falsely accused of rape in high school and tried to make it to the NFL after he was released from prison. The great Morgan Freeman played Banks’ prison mentor, an experience Hodge describes as “awesome.” But there was one moment that especially stood out. “Mr. Freeman leaned over to our director, Tom Shadyac, and he whispered something,” Hodge recalls.

Prime Video's Cross brings the exciting characters conceived by James Petterson back to the small screen, but this wouldn't be possible without its exceptional cast. The 2024 crime drama series is directed and created by Ben Watkins, who is best known for Burn Notice (2007) and Quest to Ref (2002). Now, Cross arrives on Prime Video on November 14, 2024, with a first season that will dive into the story of Patterson's Alex Cross.
James Patterson's Alex Cross book series got their start back in 1993, and there have since been 32 books published. These stories outline the work of psychologist detective Alex Cross, who solved thrilling mysteries by diving into the minds of the worst murders. To bring Patterson's books to life, Watkins has brought actors like Aldris Hodge, Isaiah Mustafa, Juanita Jennings, Ryan Eggold, and more aboard for a thrilling, action-packed crime drama fresh from Prime Video.

Kevin Bacon’s next movie will be a true family affair. Variety reports that Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are set to direct Family Movie, a horror-comedy in which they will also star alongside their children, Travis and Sosie Bacon.
Based on a screenplay by Dan Beers (Premature), the film follows “an eclectic but tight-knit family of filmmakers who suddenly find themselves in a real-life horror movie when a body turns up on the set of their latest low-budget slasher. As the production spirals comically out of control, they realize the only solution to keep filming is to cover up the murder, by any means necessary.“
The Bacon family will also produce the project for Mixed Breed Films alongside Norman Golightly at Dark Castle Entertainment. “There may not be a more compelling Hollywood family than the Bacons,” said Golightly in a statement. “We can’t wait to bring their unique...
