I'm giving this low budget a very high rating for its quality of presentation, the dramatic renditions with skilled actors and dancers, and all the archival material meticulously researched to flesh out a real flesh and blood woman who did her best to survive in the face of enormous obstacles. Her suffering as a mother was particularly enlightening for me. I learned a great deal and enjoyed the presentation without ever getting bored.

This compelling film, using the best features of a documentary including historical re-enactments and incredible archival footage, takes a different look at the life of Madi Hari. The filmmakers take us on an absorbing journey into the past of the problematic icon, from Parisian performer to International Spy, leaving us with a new perspective. This wonderfully executed film goes beyond the "heard many times before" tale of Madi Hari, and gives us instead a powerful tale of rebellion and survival.

This film totally engaged me in the story of Mata Hari and visually enchanted me with it's balanced & artistic mix of original photographs & footage with current filming of well chosen actors & sets.

I really enjoyed this film - I learned so much about Mata Hari's early life & how it influenced her. I also loved the old photos, letters, and how the actors recreated historical scenes. This truly gave insight into her character and revealed themes around empowering women. Highly recommend for learning more about Mata Hari and her story.

This charming indie doc pulls you into the drama behind one of history's most notorious seductress's. The story and art direction are well done and leave the viewer with an intimate connection to the upheaval caused by WW1. Must watch for your indie-doc list!

I actually saw this film when it was in the theater and was thoroughly engrossed. I was curious about the Mata Hari but only knew bits and pieces of her story from hearsay. This film covers the history of her personal and professional life and reenacts all the most interesting parts. From interviews with actual people that have studied and recorded the life events of the Mata Hari to the wonderful videography, the whole thing is a historical delight. Great entertainment for yourself, or gift for your friends and family!

Wow what an interesting and carefully researched work. A misunderstood female who used her limited resources to survive. This film is fun and fascinating look at the past where a resourceful women reinvents herself in a shifting sands world. I loved the costumes and mix of facts and dramatization that brought an alternative story to life!

Mata Hari: The Naked Spy was absolutely fascinating. It beautifully tells the story of an immensely interesting and unique woman. The actors, narratives, and artistic flair keep you engaged the entire time. What a joy to be entertained while also learning about a great (female!) historical figure!
