Blake Lively’s feud with her It Ends With Us co-star and director, Justin Baldoni, has led to the resurfacing of several controversies from her past, placing the actress under constant public scrutiny. Among these resurfaced issues are also the reported behind-the-scenes tensions from the production of her 2020 flop, The Rhythm Section.

Directed by Reed Morano and produced by renowned James Bond producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, the action thriller was a massive flop. And reports of conflict between Lively and the producers over the film’s creative direction seem to echo Baldoni’s alleged claims that the actress attempted to take control of his It Ends With Us adaptation.

Hollywood’s entertainment industry has seen a lot of questionable people debut in it over the decades, and after the recent turn of events, Blake Lively seems to have made her place pretty high on the list. While the diva was being scrutinized for reportedly meddling with the director’s final cut for her flick It Ends with Us, it sounds like that creative-control drama didn’t start there.

For one, when it comes to Lively, a lot of old reports and interview excerpts from the actress have been popping up to her disadvantage now, and one of them brought back the time she herself admitted not liking to get directed around. In fact, the time she came clean about this was also when she shut down her biggest flop’s production for six months with a hand injury.

While everyone’s busy talking about Blake Lively for one reason and one reason only, let’s not forget her bold attempt to break into the spy game. With The Rhythm Section, Lively set out to ditch the usual suave agents like James Bond and Jason Bourne and bring a fresh face to the genre, her own.

Armed with disguises, action scenes, and plenty of brooding stares, she tried to carve out her place in the world of espionage. Unfortunately, her mission didn’t exactly go as planned, the film struggled to make an impact, leaving Lively’s bid for spy supremacy more of a whisper than a bang.
How did The Rhythm Section miss the beat?
The Rhythm Section had all the right ingredients to be the next big revenge thriller, but instead, it crashed and burned.

Ballerina's Ana de Armas details how her character differs from John Wick. Ballerina is a John Wick spinoff film that follows the story of a female assassin named Eve Macarro who seeks revenge for her father's death. While John Wick has previously had a spinoff television series with The Continental, Ballerina will be the first feature film spinoff within the franchise, which has thus far included four films. Ballerina features a leading cast including de Armas in the lead role and Keanu Reeves returning as John Wick, with a supporting cast that includes Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, and Anjelica Houston.
In an interview with Collider, de Armas explains how her Ballerina lead stands out from John Wick. The actor began by noting the similarities between Ballerina and the rest of the John Wick franchise, saying that "there are some trademarks in the style of the fights in John Wick.

Jenna Ortega offers up her opinions on gender-swapped film remakes with female leads. Over the past few years, making gender-swapped versions of classic films has become increasingly popular. The most infamous example of this was Paul Feig's 2016 remake of Ghostbusters, which took the Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd-led original and instead cast a leading quartet of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. Ghostbusters got negative reviews, and was disliked by a number of audiences at the time.
Now, Wednesday actor Ortega weighs in on her thoughts on the gender-swapped film remake.
In an interview with MTV, Ortega note that she loves "that there's a lot more female leads nowadays," but she does not necessarily want to see more gender-swapped spinoffs. Referring to this trend, Ortega said that she doesn't "want to see like Jamie Bond." Instead, she would rather see women lead original franchises, playing "another badass.

Blake Lively has always had a fraught relationship with her Hollywood career arc. After establishing herself on the silver screen with The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants in 2005, Lively’s career began to chart a sine-wave across the years that followed. Besides a few well-received projects like The Shallows and A Simple Favor, Lively has had hard luck trying to strike big as the lead.

Fans hope Blake Lively's next movie after It Ends With Us will break her current "Rotten" streak on Rotten Tomatoes. Lively's latest performance in It Ends With Us is considered one of her best, but received mixed reviews from critics. Anticipation is high for the sequel to A Simple Favor, hoping to match the original's critical acclaim and avoid disappointment.
It'd be a shame if Blake Lively's next movie after It Ends With Us fails to match the level of her critically acclaimed 2018 thriller. Lively has starred in dozens of films and television shows including Accepted (2006), Green Lantern (2011), and Savages (2012) after making her film debut in 2005's The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Lively rose to prominence from her roles as Krista in Ben Affleck's critically acclaimed heist movie The Town and Serena in Gossip Girl (2007-2012).

Sunday Am Update: Here’s how the weekend is settling: Ryan Reynolds is first with Marvel Studios/Disney’s Deadpool & Wolverine‘s third weekend at $54.2M. Blake Lively is second, but with a very strong $50M for It Ends With Us.
This is the first time that two movies in August both played to north of $50M.
The expectation is that the Justin Baldoni directed and starring movie based on the Colleen Hoover novel will have a good Sunday. Sony’s Where the Crawdads Sing only eased -13% off its Saturday. These female lit feature adaptations may fall on Saturday as the fan fevered turnout occurs on Thursday and Friday, but sometimes they they can see a matinee audience recovery on Sunday, which is what is expected here.

I consider Blake Lively to be a rather underrated actress. Perhaps it’s due to the greater recognition her husband (Ryan Reynolds) receives, her less successful films, or even the genres chosen by the actors… There are many possible reasons. But personally, I was surprised by Lively’s performances in The Shallows, A Simple Favor, and The Rhythm Section, where she demonstrates an ampler range than she’s usually credited for. Without prior knowledge of Colleen Hoover‘s novel, on which this film by actor-director Justin Baldoni (Clouds) and screenwriter Christy Hall (Daddio) is based, I went into It Ends With Us hoping for a compelling romance.
The narrative premise is relatively familiar. Lily Bloom (Lively) is a woman who has overcome childhood trauma – or so she thinks – and embarks on a new life in Boston, where she pursues a childhood dream of opening her own flower shop. A random...

After two weeks at #1 and hitting $400 million domestic, “Deadpool and Wolverine” may finally have some competition, though it’s going to be tough to beat if it’s able to make $50 million or more in its third weekend, which is definitely possible.

The Rhythm Section missed its chance to be a Bourne replacement, facing poor critical reception and box office results. The film shares similarities with the Bourne movies and James Bond, but failed to capitalize on them for success. Lively's lack of box office appeal and the struggle for female-led action films may have contributed to The Rhythm Section's failure.
The 2020 film The Rhythm Section missed its opportunity to become the perfect replacement for the Jason Bourne films. Blake Lively was unrecognizable in her role as a grieving woman who seeks revenge in Reed Morano’s The Rhythm Section. Lively’s Bond-style film flopped really badly at the box office. During the filming of a scene in the film, Lively injured her hand, requiring surgery and shutting down the production for six months. The critics praised Lively’s performance, but her sacrifices were not enough to save the film from an embarrassing fate.

Alongside some of the biggest streaming apps available now, Paramount+ has entered the highly competitive market and is looking to make its mark. Originally launched as CBS All Access in 2014, the ViacomCBS owned service was rebranded as Paramount+ on March 4, 2021, following the 2019 re-merger of CBS and Viacom. With 36 million subscribers currently, Paramount Plus is looking to expand even more. They will be adding over one thousand new movie titles this week alone.
And the move seems very necessary. HBO Max recently merged with Discovery+. Disney, Netflix, and Prime Video are available globally with millions of subscribers. Paramount+ will start streaming Paramount Pictures' theatrical releases after a 45-day window in movie theaters. So, you can expect to stream A Quiet Place Part 2 from July. Paramount's sci-fi thriller Infinite, starring Mark Wahlberg and Chiwetel Ejiofor will be exclusively streaming on the platform from June 10.
