The general audience may not have been familiar with this Marvel Comics character, but there was interest in bringing him to the screen. The adaptation passed from company to company, Richard Roundtree and L.L. Cool J were considered for the lead role. David Fincher was one of the directors who signed on, then dropped out. But eventually, it all came together in the right way at the right time, helping usher in a golden age of Marvel film adaptations. How could a lesser-known character have such a successful film? Let’s dig into it and find out What Happened to Blade.
Created by writer Marv Wolfman and penciller Gene Colan, Blade debuted in the comic book The Tomb of Dracula in 1973. Becoming one of the rare Black superheroes at the time. A vampire bit his mother while she was in labor, leaving him immune to vampire bites but still able...

Released during the high point in Full Moon’s relationship with Paramount Pictures, Seedpeople was heavily advertised on its original UK release back in 1992, with ads appearing in many of the horror magazines of the period – including full page ads on the back and inside cover of The Dark Side (which ran for months on end I recall). The film itself wasn’t as successful as the other notable franchises in the Full Moon stable, with many reviews at the time noting that the film was a rip-off of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and essentially that’s what the movie is: a tongue-in-cheek alien invasion flick that echoes the feel of low-budget sci-fi flicks of the 1950s.

Last year, Charles Band’s company Full Moon announced that they were launching a new production label called Pulp Noir, which would focus on “edgier, weirder, darker horror and dark fantasy films.” Two Pulp Noir movies, Quadrant and Death Streamer, have since made their way through production – and while those movies were initially released in color, all of the Pulp Noir movies will also get black & white “noir” releases, so there are both color and black & white versions of Quadrant and Death Streamer available on the Full Moon Features streaming service. While we wait for more Pulp Noir movies to be made, Band has started going through the Full Moon library to give some of their older films the black & white / noir treatment. This noir series, which is expected to consist of at least a dozen films, got started with a black & white version of the 1984 sci-fi thriller Christmas classic Trancers.

Welcome to The B-Side! Here we talk about movie stars! Not the movies that made them famous or kept them famous, but the ones that they made in between.
It’s a day to celebrate! We discuss the legend Maggie Cheung! Our B-Sides include Lost Romance (a.k.a. Story of Rose), Full Moon in New York, Green Snake, and Sausalito. Our esteemed guest for this episode is Nick Newman, host of the Emulsion podcast for The Film Stage.
We talk about the Hong Kong New Wave, Maggie’s aborted performance in Inglourious Basterds, the true B-Sidey-Ness of Sausalito, and Maggie Cheung’s brief, lovely, recent Sight and Sound interview.
There’s also Nick’s Sight and Sound List, that GQ piece, Julia Ormond’s tackling a famous Audrey Hepburn role, and Nick’s great interview with filmmaker Olivier Assayas back in 2022.
By 2004, at the young age of forty, Cheung retired from acting.

A couple of things that we’ve covered on the channel at length are the works of Howard Phillips Lovecraft and the films of gone too soon writer and director Stuart Gordon. For Lovecraft, we have looked at everything from behind-the-scenes drama on The Curse to the accuracy and differences of literary adaptations like The Resurrected. We have given Gordon his time in the sun as well, with deep looks at both his movie Dolls and his Poe adaptation of The Pit and the Pendulum. These two titans have also intersected more than a few times with Gordon making movies out of Lovecraft stories like Dagon and Castle Freak and, most famously and something we have covered on more than a few occasions, Re-Animator. Lost in the shuffle is a collaboration of these two greats that may be the greatest achievement that nobody talks about. From Beyond takes a lot of the elements,...

Over the decades, Carlos Santana has collaborated with jazz legends (Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter), rock guitarists (Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan), blues greats (Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker), R&b singers (Smokey Robinson, Lauryn Hill), and even country artists (Willie Nelson, Faith Hill). The results were sometimes worldwide hits like “Smooth” (with Rob Thomas) or “Maria Maria” (with Wyclef Jean), but others fell between the cracks and never found the audience they deserved.

The first C.H.U.D became a culturally relevant movie for multiple reasons and against all odds also worked its way into the greater pop culture zeitgeist. I argued that the first movie doesn’t quite stand the test of time a bit ago and while I stand by that, it doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy it either. C.H.U.D. II: Bud the C.H.U.D. is a wild ride of a sequel that certainly didn’t need to exist but is somehow more fun than the predecessor. Its also a better sequel in a franchise that it doesn’t technically exist in! Can’t wait to get into that aspect. Most of you love C.H.U.D. but I’m here to tell you why C.H.U.D. II is a great black sheep that straddles the end of the 80s and start to the 90s. I doubt I’ll sway anyone onto my side of...

Dragon Ballcovers a tremendous amount of ground from when it begins to Goku flying off with Uub. Goku experiences many changes from when he’s first introduced, many of which come in the form of powerful transformations. Dragon Ball is absolutely rich with forms and the series has reached a point where characters are beginning to develop unique, individualized final forms – from Orange Piccolo, to Black Frieza, and Gohan Beast.
Goku has undergone more transformations than the most Dragon Ball’s characters, but not all of his forms are aesthetically pleasing (to say the least). Power and practicality are obviously fundamental to battle, but Goku’s forms rank a little differently when visual flair and design are the primary concerns.

Stoner culture and horror movies go together like chips and queso—a match made in heaven (or perhaps hell). There’s something about the mind-expanding vibes of stoner humor mixed with the surreal, the gory, and the downright absurd that makes this subgenre irresistible. Whether it’s the paranoia of supernatural forces, the dark hilarity of a hapless stoner fighting demons, or the trippy visual stylings of a psychedelic horror trip, stoner horror films offer something uniquely enjoyable.
The appeal probably lies in the way these films can blend laughter and terror. Stoner protagonists are often laid-back, lovable underdogs thrust into insane scenarios, bringing an everyman charm that audiences root for. These films don’t just deliver scares—they also lean into the bizarre, often embracing wildly imaginative plots that break traditional horror conventions. With their mix of self-awareness, satire, and creative insanity, stoner horror movies are perfect for those...

One of the most well-reviewed Marvel shows in recent memory is probably one many fans have not watched. Sporting a 100% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur follows a 13-year-old girl named Lunella, a supergenius who accidentally brings a (very lovable) dinosaur into modern-day New York City. Together, they are a crime-fighting duo that has the rare combination of being incredibly cute but also very powerful. After being unceremoniously canceled last year, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur will be ending on its own terms with the back half of Season 2.

Of the hundreds of pieces of entertainment Full Moon founder Charles Band has brought into the world, one of my favorites is the 1984 sci-fi thriller classic Trancers, which also happens to be one of my favorite Christmas movies. Now, Full Moon has revealed that they’ll be releasing a black & white version of Trancers, called Trancers Noir, on the Full Moon Features streaming service this Friday, February 7th!
Directed by Band from a screenplay by Danny Bilson and Paul De Meo, Trancers has the following synopsis: Welcome to Angel City, 2247. Trooper Jack Deth (Tim Thomerson) is wiping out the last disciples of Whistler, who used his psychic power to ‘trance’ those with inferior minds, forcing them to follow his every desire. Though he’d been thought dead, he’s very much alive… in the year 1985. Whistler’s master plan – kill the ancestors of the City Council. With the Council disbanded,...

Top of the mornin’ to you! It may not be St. Patrick’s Day, but it’s never a bad time to watch Leprechaun movies, and we here at Arrow in the Head decided to go back over the whole Leprechaun franchise to rank them from worst to first. The Leprechaun Movies Ranked list can be seen below – check it out and let us know how you would rank the movies!
Leprechaun: Origins (2014)
This is appalling. Director Zach Lipovsky, writer Harris Wilkinson, and WWE Studios were given the chance to make a new Leprechaun movie, they cast a professional wrestler (Dylan “Hornswoggle” Postl) as the title character, and then they just churned out a dull monster movie. I don’t know how anyone involved thought this was a good idea (“You know what we should do? Take everything people liked about Leprechaun and remove it!”) or how Leprechaun: Origins made it through production.

The Phunny Plush line from Kidrobot has so far included the likes of Michael Myers, Pennywise, Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, Regan from The Exorcist, Gizmo and some Gremlins, a Killer Klown from Outer Space… and there are a lot more characters joining the line in March, as you can see on Entertainment Earth. At its core, 9-1-1 is a gripping drama that expresses the trials and tribulations of the 118 crew of the Lafd. Each character has their own intimate backstory, giving this series a sense of depth and mystery that not many other procedurals can compete with. As such, while 9-1-1 may be criticized for its sometimes outlandish plotlines and arcs, fans still appreciate the show's dedication to keeping audiences on the very edge of their seats.
Yet, a lot of fans would agree that 9-1-1 is one of the funniest shows on air at the moment. Whether it's the banter between the firefighters or the latest ludicrous case, the show manages to effectively balance humor with over-the-top tension. So, it's fair to say that 9-1-1 works best when it's making fans laugh.

Charles Band’s company Full Moon has been delivering wild, crazy, entertaining films for over thirty-five years now – and last year, they launched a new production label called Pulp Noir, the idea being to focus on “edgier, weirder, darker horror and dark fantasy films.” So far, two Pulp Noir movies have made their way out into the world, Quadrant and Death Streamer, and on the new episode of his YouTube show Full Moon Universe, Band revealed that the third Pulp Noir movie, The Lost Girl’s Private Diary, is set to start filming at the end of February!
The Lost Girl’s Private Diary is a paranormal romance that Band describes as being in the vein of his 1990 movie Meridian. As with Meridian, Band will be directing this one himself, and here’s the official synopsis: Lily is a “Lost Girl”, a term given to those women that have been...

There will be a screening of the uncut version of the original Puppet Master at this event, and genre icon Barbara Crampton, who makes a cameo appearance in Puppet Master, will be one of the special guests! This is the fictional story of five strangers picked to live in a house and have their lives taped to find out what happens when people stop being polite and start getting murdered… My Little Eye. And if you haven’t seen this one, it’s the Best Horror Movie You Never Saw.
Reality shows are nearly unavoidable these days, but back in the ‘90s they were still rare. Aside from MTV’s The Real World and episodes of Cops, we hadn’t been exposed to much reality programming yet. And when word started leaking out about the development of shows like Big Brother and Survivor, they sounded odd. A little twisted, potentially dangerous. Big Brother was offering the chance to watch its contestants on 24/7 live streams. Survivor was taking its contestants out to isolated locations and leaving them to provide basic survival necessities for themselves. While the concept of Big Brother just seemed weird,...

9-1-1 has shocked viewers with its intense twists and turns since it first premiered back in 2018. Complete with a team of alluring firefighters, the 118 crew have experienced their fair share of intense events, all of which add to the audience's entertainment. Thus, this vibrant and diverse firefighter drama has managed to keep fans hooked for years.
Ryan Murphy also adds a touch of hysteria to this show, which is similar to a lot of his other work. Thus, fans get to enjoy a whirlwind of drama and surprise, particularly when it comes to some of the cases. But some of these cases are so intense that fans can only bear to watch them once.

Batman has had a lot of great love interests over the years. While his two greatest love interests have always been antiheroes Catwoman and Talia al Ghul, there's another pairing that isn't talked about nearly enough - this time with a fellow superhero. Now, DC is finally bringing back the relationship in a terrifying new storyline.
In the preview pages for Batman: Full Moon #1 by Rodney Barnes and Stevan Subic, readers see Batman fighting off a gang of weapons dealers. But the surprising part is that Batman missed a date with Zatanna Zatara to do it. While the two characters have been romantic in the past, it's a surprising sight to see them again, as DC rarely touches on this romance.
This relationship has always been highly underrated, and it's great to see DC bringing it back, even if it's only for this one story. While Batman has had tons...

In a time where CGI and other digital technology reign as the kings of cinema special effects, Full Moon Features has released a film with old school SFX and a production timeline nearly half a century-long, spanning from conceptualization to release, with The Primevals.
And this timeline length is no exaggeration. The road to this film’s release began with plot elements used in the 1968 short film Raiders of the Stone Ring by writer-director David Allen (Puppet Master II and The Howling) that evolved into a full-length film script by 1975 and then produced by Charles Band in 1978. Alas, pre-production saw some funding issues surface that postponed the project until filming commenced again in 1994, before finally being completed and released in 2023.
After learning of the existence of Yeti when one is killed in Nepal, Dr. Claire Collier (Juliet Mills) and her student Matt Connor (Richard Joseph Paul) head to the Himalayas to investigate its origin.
