In 2015, writer, director and podcaster Kevin Smith was lucky enough to play a voice in a Star Wars film, but Smith admitted he wasnt sure which stormtrooper he actually voiced. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Smith talked about doing voice work in J.J. Abrams The Force Awakens.
J.J. was kind enough to let me do a voice for a stormtrooper. And he had a bunch of lines written, so he was like I dont know which one youre gonna be. Just say all 10 of these, the Mallrats director recalled. Flash forward to when the movie was released, Smith said he got a little confused about which part he played.

If you’re a fan of director Kevin Smith, you’ve probably seen movies like Clerks, Mallrats and Dogma, but one of his films has hardly been viewed by anyone at all.
In 2022, Smith released KillRoy Was Here, a low-budget horror anthology, loosely based on the World War II graffiti meme, and made with a crew of Florida film students. But the movie didn’t come to theaters, or streaming services, or even Betamax, it was issued exclusively as 5,555 NFTs on the Legendao platform, meaning the film was unavailable to watch unless you had the special “crypto key.”
Two years later, it still hasn’t been made available anywhere else.

Even Smith fans seemed pretty miffed at this arrangement, which essentially prevented them from ever watching the movie without shelling out big bucks to some crypto company.
But going the Nft route wasn’t always the plan for KillRoy Was Here.

Two years have passed since Kevin Smith‘s horror anthology KillRoy Was Here made its way out into the world as an Nft – and to this day, the only people who have seen the movie are those who have either bought the Nft, been given access to one of the NFTs, or attended a special screening. Which means so few people have seen KillRoy Was Here, it could almost be described as Smith’s “lost movie.” Now, while speaking to Entertainment Weekly and promoting his new film The 4:30 Movie, Smith has revealed exactly how and why the movie became an Nft release.
Directed by Smith from a script he wrote with Andy McElfresh, KillRoy Was Here was made on a minuscule budget as a project with film students at the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. The movie is a throwback anthology horror film featuring a...

The following contains spoilers for The 4:30 Movie, which is currently in a limited theatrical run.
Fans of podcaster, writer and director Kevin Smith usually know what to expect from his movies. Snappy dialogue, dirty jokes, pop culture references and what can only be described "Stoner Humor." However, this is not exactly what they'll get from his latest directorial effort The 4:30 Movie, filmed at Smith's childhood movie theater (which he now co-owns). Set in the summer of 1986, Smith's coming-of-age film centers around a group of friends as they grow up together and bond over their shared love of film.
Perhaps best known for Clerks and the characters Jay and Silent Bob, films in Smith's oeuvre all embrace a specific tone and style. His most recent efforts, Clerks III and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot can easily be identified -- lovingly or derisively, depending on one's view of the filmmaker...

The 4:30 Movie, the sixteenth feature film from director Kevin Smith, is now in theatres (you can read a review by JoBlo’s own Alex Maidy at This Link), and to mark the occasion we have decided to look back over Smith’s entire directing career and assemble a list of Kevin Smith Movies Ranked, from #16 to #1. This list doesn’t represent everything Smith has done; you won’t find movies he did uncredited rewrites on (like Overnight Delivery) or wrote for someone else to direct (Jay & Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie), or even the segment he contributed to the anthology horror film Holidays. For this list, we’re only covering the features that had him at the helm. And here we go…

It’s been 30 whole years since the release of Clerks, and Kevin Smith’s breakout slacker duo Jay and Silent Bob are still popping up in movies, TV shows and the occasional Degrassi-themed rap video.
At the end of last year, Smith revealed that he’s currently writing yet another Jay and Silent Bob movie, a follow-up to 2019’s Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, which starred Smith, Jason Mewes and every working actor in Smith’s phone contacts.
While not much is known about the movie at this point, Smith recently took to Instagram to share a photo of one of the upcoming sequel’s props — an evil book, bound in human flesh, that resembles Silent Bob’s tortured face.
Obviously the prop is a facsimile of the Necronomicon from the Evil Dead series, just with a beard and a backwards baseball cap. Smith joked that it is “The...

Kevin Smith has proven to have staying power in the world of film-making whether his films reach large audiences or not. However, one of his least-discussed films came about during a period of his career most movie-goers would consider a “slump,” but Tusk itself would suggest that it certainly wasn’t a creative slump. Holding just a 46% Critics Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes -- and an even worse 36% audience score -- Tusk is one of Smith's lower-rated outings.

The 4:30 Movie brings Kevin Smith back to his comedy roots with a New Jersey hangout story akin to Clerks and Mallrats. The film is set in the 1980s in a movie theater, allowing Smith to explore ripe joke areas and pop culture references. Like Clerks and Mallrats, The 4:30 Movie will be a hangout comedy set in one day, focusing on characters and relationships.

Wrestling's theatrics make it an easy transition to acting for some athletes - others, not so much. From John Cena to The Rock, wrestling superstars are making a mark in Hollywood with memorable performances. Dave Bautista stands out as a serious actor post-wrestling, showcasing versatility in various genres.
It's not uncommon to see professional wrestlers make it as big actors later in their careers, but some stand out more than others. The art of acting is difficult, but with wrestling being so scripted and theatrical, it makes sense that many of its athletes would also succeed as performers. From bone-crushing battles to silver-screen stardom, many wrestlers have left the sport behind to pursue a Hollywood lifestyle.
Of course, it's worth noting that not all wrestling superstars have been good actors. Being able to fake injuries and bodyslams doesn't necessarily translate to acting, compared to being able to cry on demand or build suspense,...

The concept of the Kevin Smith horror movie Tusk came out of an episode of Smith’s SModcast podcast in which he and his co-host Scott Mosier started out joking about the idea of a walrus-themed body horror movie and then, in the midst of the banter, Smith was inspired to actually make the movie. (And I’m very thankful that he did.) Smith’s horror anthology KillRoy Was Here started out in a similar way. It has its roots in an episode of the Edumacation podcast, where Smith and co-host Andy McElfresh “accidentally brainstormed a Christmas horror anthology” that would revolve around the child-eating creature known as Krampus. Smith and McElfresh wrote a script and were moving ahead with the film, which was first called Comes the Krampus! and then re-titled Anti-Claus, but then it got abandoned when Michael Dougherty’s Krampus movie was released. It only sat dormant...

For an indie horror movie that went out into the world unrated, Terrifier 2 was a massive hit last year, earning $15.1 million at the box office on a budget of $250,000. That success led to the first Terrifier getting a 700 screen theatrical re-release (the widest theatrical release Terrifier has ever received) – and now Cineverse and our friends at Bloody Disgusting have announced that Terrifier 2 will be celebrating its one year anniversary by returning to theatres! The nationwide re-release begins on November 8th.
Written and directed by Damien Leone, Terrifier 2 tells the following story: After being resurrected by a sinister entity, Art the Clown returns to Miles County where he must hunt down and destroy a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night. As the body count rises, the siblings fight to stay alive while uncovering the true nature of Art’s evil intent.

Famed independent director Kevin Smith recently opened up regarding his past issues with mental health, trauma, and healing. Hiring his friends to save money on his self-financed first film, Smith's Clerks broke the young New Jersey native into Hollywood. He followed his black-and-white comedy with Mallrats, a box-office bomb that has since become a cult classic. Smith's following film Chasing Amy became both a critical and financial success, leading to later hits, including Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and Clerks II. The director has since found a new voice for discussing pop culture on social media, podcasts, and television shows.
Speaking with People, Smith opened up on challenges with his mental health stemming from past trauma and healing unseen wounds. "I'm in a weird, dark place," the Red State director told a friend before checking himself into a specialized treatment center last January. Years in the making, Kevin Smith’s next film is finally getting released, but only a select few will get a chance to see it. The comedy-horror anthology “KillRoy Was Here” will be available exclusively via 5,555 NFTs.

At this time, this is the only planned distribution method for the film — Smith fans shouldn’t count on being able to catch it in a theater or on streaming.

Kevin Smith is getting into the Nft game in a unique way. The Clerks filmmaker is set to auction off his long-awaited horror movie Killroy Was Here as an Nft, or non-fungible token. This means that whoever wins the auction will have the rights to exhibit, distribute and stream the movie. So they can potentially turn the digital investment into a money-maker.

For anyone who loves Kevin Smith (and it’s no secret that I’m chief among them), it’s been a bit of a wait for news on Killroy Was Here. Shot a few years ago, the horror anthology took a backseat to Jay and Silent Bob Reboot in the wake of Smith’s heart attack, but now, while doing a virtual version of his annual Comic-Con panel, it has revealed itself. Yes, Smith debuted a Trailer for the film, with hopes that it might be out either later on this year, or early next year. You can see the Trailer below, but first, a bit about what the flick is about! The movie is a horror anthology, loosely based on the Kilroy Was Here graffiti symbol from World War II. For those who don’t know, here’s a bit about that, from Wikipedia: “Kilroy was here is...

Exclusive: Kevin Smith is reuniting with The Green Hornet in a new animated series.
The Clerks filmmaker has teamed up with kids producer WildBrain to develop a new series based on the classic superhero franchise.
Smith has long been a fan of the Green HorneT; in 2004, he was hired to write a feature film screenplay based on the character for Miramax. That project never materialized on screen – it was subsequently written by and starred Seth Rogen, directed by Michael Gondry and released in 2011.
However, the Mallrats filmmaker did turn his screenplay into a comic book series. He wrote the first four issue story arc of the series, which was published by Dynamite Entertainment in 2010.
Smith and WildBrain are developing the new animated series to target a family audience. The series will be set in contemporary times, following the adventures of a re-imagined Green Hornet and Kato – now the grown son...

Kevin Smith unveiled the trailer for his upcoming horror anthology film Killroy Was Here over the weekend as part of Comic-Con at Home, and I'm warning you now, it's pretty gory. The film was inspired by the "Kilroy Was Here" graffiti depicting a bald man with a large nose peeking over a wall. Smith has now given the character a backstory, as Kilroy is depicted as a Vietnam veteran who uses the deadly skills he learned as a special ops soldier to become a Florida swamp monster of sorts -- one who protects children instead of preying on …...

No stranger to peculiar horror-comedy concepts, Kevin Smith has found a new niche subject for his horror-comedy anthology “Killroy Was Here”, debuting the first trailer during his Comic-Con@Home panel on Saturday. The panel was an extension of an annual one-man talk from Smith that’s part stand-up, part promotion, as the filmmaker also revealed bits from his upcoming Netflix animated TV series “Masters of the Universe: Revelation”.

"Close the mouth that cannot tell... And send the monster back to hell." Every year, Kevin Smith hosts a big panel at Comic-Con on Saturday evening. But this year, with Comic-Con cancelled and taking place entirely online, Smith just live-streamed his panel from home. And he always brings a trailer to debut. Killroy Was Here is a horror comedy anthology film made by Kevin Smith. He filmed in late 2017 & early 2018 and it's finally getting finished and ready for release sometime in 2021. The various horror anthology stories are centered around the phenomenon of the "Kilroy Was Here" graffiti, about some weird bald dude with a big nose sticking over a wall. The ensemble cast includes Azita Ghanizada, Ryan O'Nan, Harley Quinn Smith, Chris Jericho, Justin Kucsulain, and Ralph Garman. This definitely looks like another Kevin Smith having fun with his friends & family kind of film. Not that scary, a bit weird,...

Once upon a time Kevin Smith had a dream to make a Krampus movie—a horror anthology film based around the anti-Santa Claus monster of Germanic folklore. But then Michael Dougherty went and made Krampus in 2015, so Smith had to improvise. Luckily this is the guy who made Clerks for $28,000—being creative with resources is kind of in his wheelhouse. Thus began the genesis of Killroy Was Here, an all-original horror movie that looks to be very much in the vein of one of Smith’s previous cult chillers, Tusk.
A film that Smith made in tandem with students at the Ringling College of Art and Design, Killroy Was Here has been a bit of an enigma for Smith fans over the years. Working from a screenplay by Smith and Andrew McElfresh, Smith and his crew of budding filmmakers began shooting in Sarasota, Florida in 2017. But after Smith suffered a heart attack that same year,...

It's hard to think of a better person to close out Comic-Con@Home's Saturday night festivities. Kevin Smith appeared remotely and talked Son-In-Lockdown, unveiled a new Funko Pop, and dropped the first look at his new movie Killroy Was Here. Plus, Smith chatted about a new podcast he created with his daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, and revealed how to get your very own Mooby's Cow Tipper. All in all, it was a great follow up to his Bill & Ted Face the Music panel from earlier in the day.
Kevin Smith has been a San Diego Comic-Con fixture for decades now. He comes to promote, work, and also be a fanboy. So this year was a bit different, but Smith was still able to work and promote, while hopefully getting some exciting news. Jay & Silent Bob Reboot is moving right along, adding more cameos along the way. This time, it's WWE star and musician Chris Jericho. Kevin Smith and Jericho have worked together in the past, but this is the first time that he has worked on a Jay and Silent Bob production. It was revealed earlier this week that Shannon Elizabeth flew all the way from Africa to take part in the production of Jay & Silent Bob Reboot.
Kevin Smith has been just as busy documenting everything that has been going on behind-the-scenes as he has making Jay & Silent Bob Reboot. The director/writer/actor has been hard at work in making sure that fans know exactly what has been going on during the production and he loves revealing the latest cameos from friends that have flown from all over everywhere to take part in the highly anticipated sequel. Iconic wrestler Chris Jericho and director Kevin Smith have appeared on each other's podcasts over the years, but now they're finally working together. Smith posted a picture of himself and Jericho announcing that the wrestler is playing a part in the director's upcoming horror anthology Killroy Was Here. In addition, Smith reveals that Jericho stepped up to help operate the camera as well, truly earning his keep on the indie film. The duo are clearly excited to be working with each other in the picture that Smith posted.
KillRoy Was Here originated as a Krampus film before it was rewritten and turned into a horror anthology. Kevin Smith has been hard at work on the project for over a year, traveling out to Sarasota, Florida a few times a year to shoot with film students. Chris Jericho decided to get in on the fun and plays a "nasty-ass Florida streamer,...

Feature film veterans Robert Molloy, Kristian Krempel, and Joseph Restaino have formed Florida-based Pinstripe Productions.
The company takes its name from Molloy’s affiliation with the New York Yankees baseball team as the grandson of longtime owner George Steinbrenner. The sons, Harold and Hank Steinbrenner, inherited the team, sometimes known as the Pinstripers. Molloy, the son of Jessica Steinbrenner, began working with the team when he was in his teens.
Molloy’s first film, the live-action “The Little Mermaid,” will open theatrically on Aug. 17 in partnership with AMC Theaters. The film stars William Moseley, Poppy Drayton, Gina Gershon, and Shirley MacLaine.
“I am excited to be involved in this new partnership with talented people that continue to make art that will last a lifetime,” Molloy said. “My first experience on ‘The Little Mermaid’ was a very gratifying and humbling one.”

Director Kevin Smith has revealed the first photo from the set of his horror anthology Killroy Was Here. The director started shooting the first installment back in June, working from a script he co-wrote with Andrew McElfresh (White Chicks), who also served as visual effects supervisor on Kevin Smith's Yoga Hosers. While the filmmaker wouldn't offer any details about what scene is being shot in the photo, the filmmaker did comment on this story when the project was first announced in June. Here's what the director had to say below.
"This is a monster movie in the sense of a classic morality tale. No one wants to see you spill the blood of innocents, but when someone crosses the line and goes bad, you get to make them pay in horrible ways, and the audience cheers. We wanted to make an anthology film in the vein of Creepshow. Killroy is like the Golem,...
