A new episode of our What Happened to This Celebrity series just dropped on the JoBlo Originals YouTube channel, and with this one we’re taking a look at the life and career of one of the most beloved actors of his generation: Keanu Reeves. Here’s a guy who has been in the acting world since the 1980s, and just keeps getting more and more popular as the years go by. How is this possible? Well, it helps when you can play a dog-avenging badass like John Wick… and it also helps to have a reputation as being one of the most kind, warmhearted people in Hollywood. To hear all about Keanu Reeves, and to celebrate a very cool dude, check out the video embedded above.
As mentioned in the video, Reeves’ acting skills have been criticized, but he has made some great movies and brought to life some iconic characters.

Doing the right thing can be challenging. We want to think that we’d take the higher ground when faced with tragedy, but when push comes to shove, we tend to save ourselves when staring down the barrel of a grim fate. In Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2 trailer, Justin Kemp (Nicholas Hoult) must decide what kind of person he is when coming face-to-face with the possibility of being guilty of another man’s crime. The high ground suddenly feels insurmountable, and the choice between freedom and incarceration looms. What would you do?
Clint Eastwood directs Juror #2 from a script by Jonathan A. Abrams. The intense thriller focuses on a family man named Justin Kemp, who struggles with a severe moral dilemma while serving as a juror in a high-profile trial. He could sway the jury with what he thinks he knows, potentially clearing an innocent man, but the information comes at a cost.

There's nothing quite like a luxurious jaunt to a sun-soaked locale to bring folk together, as we've learned from Destination Wedding, Ticket To Paradise, Anyone But You, and oh so many other movies over the years. With upcoming Netflix resort romance Lonely Planet, it looks like writer-director Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich) is set to add a little more depth to the ordinarily comedy heavy sub-genre. Here, Laura Dern stars as Katherine, a novelist whose Moroccan retreat to conquer her writer's block puts her on a collision course with Liam Hemsworth's Owen, a younger man facing his own crisis of confidence. As the great Avril Lavigne once observed, "He was a boy, she was a girl, can I make it any more obvious?" Well, check out the trailer below and see for yourself how sparks fly between the pair:
From nervy car meet-cute, to the gradual excavation of their shared baggage,...

There’s a saying that “matches are made in heaven” However, if Francis Ford Coppola makes one here on earth who would even think of denying it? Such was the case of Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves who played Mina and Jonathan Harker in Coppola’s 1992 Gothic horror “Dracula”. In an interview relating to her recent appearance in the movie “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” Ryder revealed that Keanu and she still call each other husband and wife to this day.

Keanu himself is now 60 years ‘young’ and maintains his presence in the showbiz as one of the most prominent stars in Hollywood. Reeves has insane versatility. Whether it is his appearance in the supernatural world of DC’s Constantine or something softer like “The Lake House”.

There are completely legal marriages that aren’t nearly as strong as the possibly, potentially real one Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves entered into while filming Dracula. Ever since a real Romanian priest was used during their wedding scene in the 1992 Francis Ford Coppola film, the pair have continued to honor the union with a wholesome text tradition.
“We always say who it is, even though it says it on the text,” Ryder shared during a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “So, like, on his birthday, I go: ‘Happy birthday,...

Winona Ryder revealed on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast that she and Keanu Reeves call each other husband and wife in their text messages, over three decades after they were maybe married for real on the set of Francis Ford Coppola’s “Dracula.”
The two actors played Jonathan and Mina Harker in the 1992 gothic horror film, and they revealed during the 2018 press tour for their romantic-comedy “Destination Wedding” that real priests were used during the filming of their “Dracula” wedding scene. So yes, Ryder and Reeves might be husband and wife and they’ve rolled with it ever since.
“I would literally do anything though with him. Like he is so special,” Ryder said about working with Reeves, although she clarified that doing a “John Wick” movie might not be for her because it “involves a lot of stunts. I’m just thinking of my bones.”

It goes without saying that Keanu Reeves is one of the nicest blokes in Hollywood. Since his debut in showbiz back in the late ’80s, there have been several stories about The Matrix star being an upstanding dude, and the consensus isn’t looking to change anytime soon if ever.
Winona Ryder, who shares a long history with Reeves and even is married in the eyes of the Romanian church, recalled one such story about the actor. During their time together on Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula, Ryder revealed Reeves went against the director’s request to protect her.

Francis Ford Coppola is known for going to extreme lengths with his films and doesn’t shy away from pushing actors to their limits to get the most authentic performance.

Meg Ryan not only dazzles before the camera in “What Happens Later,” but behind it as well, as director and co-writer. Through the prism of one former couple’s relationship woes, this effervescent, enlightened romantic comedy explores our innate need for reconciliation within ourselves and with each other. It’s a delight to welcome Ryan back to the silver screen after an extended hiatus, and in the genre she helped rejuvenate alongside filmmakers like Rob Reiner and Nora Ephron (to whom this film is touchingly dedicated).
Adapting Steven Dietz’s play “Shooting Stars” with Dietz and Kirk Lynn, Ryan delivers her own assured spin on the formula, subverting it while highlighting the characters’ witty repartee and poignant sorrow. Perhaps she learned a thing or two from Reiner and Ephron through creative osmosis.

Ah, love. Is there anything it fails to overcome? In reality, the answer is a resounding, “yes, obviously, so many things” — ranging from physical separation and infidelity to your partner’s sudden preoccupation with Aaron Rodgers or their repeated mispronunciation of “picture” as “pitcher.” But if you’re a head-in-the-clouds romantic, nothing so trivial could tear apart two people whose destiny is written in the stars. Logic and practicality don’t apply, the heart wants what it wants, yada yada yada. Love is thee reason for being, and thus it can be a reason to justify almost anything — all sorts of behavior, be it swooning or sordid, can be overlooked in the name of love.

Juror #2: Night Agent star Gabriel Basso is in talks to join the cast of Clint Eastwood’s final film
The Night Agent‘s Gabriel Basso could have a new assignment now that he’s in talks to join the cast of Clint Eastwood’s next and final film, Juror #2. Eastwood directs from a script by Jonathan Abrams, with a story during a murder trial. When one of the jurors (Nicholas Hoult) seeks to protect the defendant without putting himself in jeopardy, he progressively realizes he may have caused the victim’s death in a careless driving accident. With the dark truth looming, the juror must decide to lie and reveal the truth about the case. Does he turn himself in? Does he let the defendant hang? Toni Collette will play the prosecutor in the complicated legal matter.
The 92-year-old filmmaker, who directed Gran Torino, Sully, The Bridges of Madison Country, and more, welcomes Hoult, Collette, Zoey Deutch, and Kiefer Sutherland to the cast, with Basso circling a mystery role.

There are certain actors who seem to have grown up before the public’s eye. Whose very existence serve to remind us of our own mortality. It’s fitting then that a movie about the relentlessness of time and the horror of aging would star Winona Ryder, who we’ve seen from her breakout teen years age through every phase Hollywood allows women. Co-written and directed by Eli Horowitz (“Homecoming”), the romantic horror, “The Cow,” stars Ryder as Kath, an older woman thrown for a loop when her younger boyfriend suddenly leaves her seemingly for a younger woman.
Ryder is fantastic, in her first film role since 2018’s “Destination Wedding,” bringing her trademark wry humor, expressive eyes, and fiery energy to Kath.

Winona Ryder has been in the news quite a bit this week. Once the perennial Gen-x star of the ‘90s, she still carries a loyal following of fans who swear by the mantra of “Winona Forever.” It appears that Keanu Reeves and Anthony Hopkins may be among them, as per Ryder’s most recent recollection from making the classic vampire movie Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992).
In a new interview with The Sunday Times, Ryder recalled when director Francis Ford Coppola attempted to emotionally prepare her for a scene by shouting, “You whore! You whore!” over and over again, and getting the rest of the male cast on the set to join in. For context, the sequence occurs at the end of the movie’s second act after her character Mina Harker is discovered drinking blood from Dracula’s chest. Only then does the vampire turn into a giant bat and then a pile of rats.

Winona Ryder tells The Sunday Times (via The Independent) in a new interview that her longtime friendship with Keanu Reeves started on the set of “Dracula” when Reeves refused to insult his co-star in order to get her to cry during a scene. Reeves was instructed to do so by “Dracula” director Francis Ford Coppola. The scene in question featured Gary Oldman’s Dracula turning into a pile of rats and Ryder’s Mina Harker reacting in shock. Ryder was supposed to cry during the scene but was having trouble producing tears during her takes.
According to Ryder, Coppola thought he might be able to get her to cry on set by hurling insults at her. The director stood off camera and reportedly shouted “You whore!” at Ryder in order to offend her to the point of tears, but that bit of direction didn’t work. Ryder said that’s...

A smart meet-cute can be the making of a rom-com. Something memorable and quirky to endear the future couple to us and to emblazon them on the minds of one another so the will they/won’t they/do they/don’t they panto can begin.
Destination Wedding begins with a peculiar subversion of the trope – a meet-acutely awkward. Frank (Keanu Reeve) and Lindsay (Winona Ryder) form a bond of mutual dislike as they jostle for prime position in a non-existent queue at an airport gate. Quite why their dislike is so strong, and the character assassinations so intense from the outset, is unclear. It sets an unsettling and unrealistic tone which the film sadly never shakes.

When they meet on their way to a destination wedding, they soon discover they have a lot in common: they both hate the bride, the groom, the wedding, themselves, and most especially each other. Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder play a hate-at-first-sight outsiders doomed to fall in love flatly in this nuptials no-hoper
Why have Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder never become staples of romantic comedy. Are they too serious for rom? Too cool for com? Or, with the release of this indulgently talky borderline pretentious wedding comedy do we learn the truth: that they’re hopeless romantics, genuinely rubbish at it? Keanu Reeves is getting his own film festival in Scotland this weekend. The folks at Matchbox Cineclub have lined up a new, special event dedicated to the man behind The Matrix, Speed, John Wick and a host of other classics titled, rather appropriately, KeanuCon. Here's what the organizers have to say about the event on the official website.
"From the makers of Cage-a-rama & Weird Weekend, KeanuCon is Scotland's first Keanu Reeves film festival. Join us on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th April 2019 at the Centre for Contemporary Art, Glasgow, to celebrate the most triumphant Wyld Stallyn himself and trace his career from babe to baba yaga."
The full lineup for the event is rather tantalizing for fans of the actor, as it spans his entire career, leading up to his most recent movie, Destination Wedding, which co-stars Winona Ryder. It dates back as far as One Step Away from 1985, which...

Box office returns in Italy suffered their worst result in a decade last year dropping about 5% to €555 million ($631 million), but the market is reacting and 2019 looks set for a turnaround.
Several remedies are considered crucial to getting local audiences back into movie theaters, the main ones being filling the gap in strong releases during summer which has historically been left wide open disrupting regular moviegoing and also causing a glut of titles the rest of the year; upgrading the country’s screens; and providing more really gripping Italian product which in 2018 made up a healthy 22% of total grosses even though no homegrown pics made it into the country’s top ten chart.
Though exhibitors have been hurting, the year kicked off with distribution and production company Notorious Pictures — the name is a homage to both the Hitchcock film and rock band Duran Duran — announcing it is branching out into exhibition...

Keanu Reeves has a new title — “husband.”
The John Wick: Chapter 3 actor, 54, joked about his possible marriage to Destination Wedding costar Winona Ryder while on The Talk on Monday.
The duo starred together in 1992’s Dracula — a film that saw director Francis Ford Coppola hire “a real Romanian priest” for a wedding scene involving their characters, Ryder, 47, told Entertainment Weekly in August. Ryder played Mina while Reeves played her fiancé Jonathan Harker.

Destination Wedding reunites Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder, as the socially awkward Frank and Lindsay. When they meet on their way to a destination wedding, they soon discover they have a lot in common: they both hate the bride, the groom, the wedding, themselves, and most especially each other. As the weekend’s events continually force them together – and their cheerlessness immediately isolates them from the other guests – Frank and Lindsay find that if you verbally spar with someone long enough, anything can happen. When debate gives way to desire, they must decide which is stronger: their hearts or their common sense.

Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves are starring in their fourth movie together, Destination Wedding, and have been warming the hearts of millennials everywhere with their cute chemistry while promoting the film. Most recently, they gushed about harboring "pretty big, healthy" crushes on each other since the late '80s. While the two have never officially dated, their mutual affection is "still raging," according to Winona - and they may have actually gotten legally married on the set of Bram Stoker's Dracula, which is just amazing to think about.
In case you were curious: yes, Winona is still one of the '90s It girls we all want to be, and Keanu is still the brooding Hollywood heartthrob that we all want to be with. And the best part? They're still magic together, after all these years.

Starring two ’90s favorites in Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder, this is the kind of rom-com we thought would always be drowning in 20 years ago but has largely been in short supply this decade. Alas, we didn’t know how good we had it. Like those much-missed cinematic relics, “Destination Wedding” is built around a pair of likable stars who bounce off one another for a couple of hours, moving from meet-cute to will-they-or-won’t-they to a (probably) happy ending.

Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves‘ 30-year friendship has survived several major milestones: working together in four films, a fictitious marriage and ’90s stardom.

Even before I watched Destination Wedding I came up with the idea for Final Destination Wedding. The bridesmaids and groomsmen would die in order until Death reaches the bride and groom! Now I know that combo would be awesome because Destination Wedding itself is so good. Frank (Keanu Reeves) and Lindsay (Winona Ryder) meet on the way to their mutual friends’ wedding and spend the weekend commiserating together. They begin by arguing over subtle aggressions that should absolutely be called out. Lindsay won’t let him get away with stepping ahead of her. Frank is perceptive that she’s exhibiting red flags. […]

At one point in what may be the most un-festive comedy ever to revolve around a wedding, Keanu Reeves, playing the groom’s brother, has this to say says about his fellow humans: “We’re all tired, trite, trivial, tiresome, tone-deaf narcissists.” A fair description of the company you’ll be keeping at Destination Wedding.
Writer-director Victor Levin (5 to 7) only gives us two characters in this one-act play disguised as a movie. There’s Reeves as Frank, the walking definition of a mopey misanthrope. And Winona Ryder as Lindsay, who also thinks life sucks.

Victor Levin’s “Destination Wedding,” the third pairing of slacker-era stars Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder, is a romantic comedy with the romance desaturated to a brutalist black. Misanthropes Frank (Reeves) and Lindsay (Ryder) collide en route to the nuptials of a groom both loathe — it’s his estranged brother and her ex-fiancé — and they truly suffer through each of the predictable beats: a cantankerous meet-cute, a string of coincidences, and even a stirring of the loins. Unbuckling his pants to shag in a sun-dappled winery, Reeves groans understandably, “Let’s get it over with.”
“Destination Wedding” is a curio, a film made as much for the inevitable GIFs of Ryder rolling her eyes as for any penetrating insights into the mating behavior of narcissists. Frank is a hard-hearted cynic who steals hotel-room shoehorns and blames his celibacy on his mother’s multiple divorces. Lindsay’s a babbling neurotic who...

There are other characters in Victor Levin’s “Destination Wedding” beyond Frank (Keanu Reeves) and Lindsay (Winona Ryder), but none of them matter or get a moment of screen time beyond filling space in a wide shot. Not the dim bride, or the thoughtless groom, or the cold mother-in-law; the only people who matter are Frank and Lindsay, and so it’s only fitting that when “Destination Wedding” opens, it comes with an amusing subtitle: “A Narcissist Can’t Die Because Then the Entire World Would End.” And, yes, this is a romantic comedy.
Levin’s film, his first since the 2014 Anton Yelchin romantic drama “5 to 7,” will feel familiar to rom-com fans, though the filmmaker lets Reeves and Ryder rip into characters who would be pushed to the side in fluffier films. Most of all, “Destination Wedding” makes the case that the two-hander isn’t dead, even if...

There's something about watching Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder complain as their miserable characters in Destination Wedding that brings us so much joy, which you can get a little preview of in this new, exclusive clip from the upcoming romantic comedy. Ryder and Reeves - who may or may not be married in real life, for the record - star as two socially awkward people who can't stand each other at first when they meet at a mutual friend's wedding at a winery . . . but then maybe, eventually, hopefully fall in love? Fingers crossed. Watch them bicker like nobody's business above!

If you weren’t aware of Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves‘s 30-year friendship, it’s obvious in the way the two stars talk over each other, pose playfully for photos and reminisce about the early days of their friendship — bonding in the late ’80s over “motorcycle rides” and mutual friends.
Ryder, 46, has also recently joked she and Reeves, 53, might be married, since a real Romanian priest presided over their characters’ wedding scene in 1992’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

Dracula - he'll suck your blood, turn you into a creature of the night, and . . . accidentally cause you and your costar to get married on the set of your latest film? At least, that's what may or may not have happened to Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves. While sitting down with Entertainment Weekly to promote their latest collaboration, the rom-com Destination Wedding, the pair began to reflect on a previous film they'd done together, 1992's Bram Stoker's Dracula.
In the horror-drama, Ryder plays Mina Murray to Reeves's Jonathan Harker, while Gary Oldman was tasked with playing a version of the iconic vampire. And, apparently, there was also a real-life Romanian priest on set for a wedding scene, meaning the vows Ryder and Reeves say as Mina and Jonathan could, technically, have bonded them for real.

Here's an interesting bit of movie trivia that Winona Ryder recently dropped. According to her, she and Keanu Reeves might have actually been married for real while shooting Bram Stoker's Dracula back in 1992.
In the film, Reeves’ character Jonathan Harker and Ryder’s character Mina Harker get married in a scene set in Romania, and as it turns out director Francis Ford Coppola ended up using a real Romanian priest to marry them.
While promoting their upcoming film Destination Wedding, Ryder and Reeves talked to Entertainment Weekly and reflected on this moment. Ryder said:

Are congratulations in order for Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves?! While promoting their new film Destination Wedding, the 46-year-old actress revealed that she and Keanu, 53, "actually got married" back in 1992 while shooting the movie Dracula. Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder, who star together in both the new rom-com “Destination Wedding” and the collective imagination of the entire internet, might not actually need to tie the knot. In an Entertainment Weekly interview occasioned by their new film together, Ryder revealed that the two “actually got married in ‘Dracula.’ No, I swear to god I think we’re married in real life.”
“In that scene, Francis [Ford Coppola] used a real Romanian priest,” she added. “We shot the master and he did the whole thing. Ryder responded, “Don’t you remember that? It was on Valentine’s Day.” To that, Reeves could only say, “Oh my gosh, we’re married.”
