“Kalevala,” a compilation of epic poetry drawn from Karelian and Finnish folklore and mythology, is full of violence, but director Antti J. Jokinen – who has adapted the book for his film “Kalevala: The Story of Kullervo,” set in the 1100s and centering on the tragic hero Kullervo – has “no interest” in that.

“It won’t be a super violent film. We have fight sequences, the swords are heavy and the actors have been training for a year now. But it’s more interesting to show the impact violence has on people,” he tells Variety.

Lamb of God have released a remix of their song “Laid to Rest” by Health, an inclusion on the upcoming Ashes of the Wake 20th Anniversary Edition, out August 30th.

The remix arrives a day before Lamb of God kick off their co-headlining tour with Mastodon on Friday (July 19th) in Grand Prairie, Texas (get tickets here). Exclusive: Copenhagen-based REinvent International Sales has closed two significant deals on Omerta 6/12, a Finnish action thriller.

Samuel Goldwyn has picked up U.S. rights on the movie, while Swift Productions has taken France. Deals were previously closed for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Poland (Splendid) and Spain (A Contracorriende).

The movie premiered locally recently, it will also become a four-episode TV series to be released on C More in 2022.

Sf Studios has released the first teaser trailer for the anticipated action thriller “Omerta 6/12” which just wrapped shooting. Five of India’s leading filmmakers are joining hands for an as-yet untitled anthology film about the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The project will be produced by filmmaker Anubhav Sinha’s Benares Mediaworks. Other filmmakers contributing to the anthology include Ketan Mehta, Sudhir Mishra, Hansal Mehta and Subhash Kapoor.

At an event held today in Berlin, Scandi powerhouse Sf Studios revealed that it has boosted its UK office with two executive hires as it looks to increase its output of English Language film and TV projects.

Joining the company are Sudie Smyth as VP Production UK & International, and Indy Datta as VP Legal & Business Affairs UK & International.

Smyth was previously Head of Production at Pinewood Pictures, and more recently worked at European Film Bonds as a completion guarantor on titles including How To Guild A Girl and Wild Rose. Datta is an established lawyer who has worked producers, distributors, broadcasters and financiers.

Asked if he has been getting good offers after the success of "Delhi Crime" and "Selection Day", Rajesh said: "Definitely... I am getting good roles than what I used to get in the past, but I think you can't plan the journey of your career. I think your choices are one of the major factors in the field of acting.

"You try to plan it but you can't predict which project will be appreciated by the audience and which will not. So, I try to do my work passionately and efficiently with a lot of honesty."

National Award winning actor Rajkummar Rao is sweeping awards again. He says awards make him feel special, but for him the biggest reward is to entertain the audience. It has been just three months but the actor, who won hearts for his performance in last year's films Stree and Omerta, has already been honoured at GQ Style and Culture Awards and Filmfare Middle East.

"Last year was quite special in terms of the films that I did, which also gave me the opportunity to portray diverse roles on screen. Similarly, this year too, I'm fortunate to be a part of interesting

projects varied in genre," Rajkummar said in a statement.

"Awards make you feel special, but for me the biggest reward is to entertain the audience. I'm grateful to the audience for always showering me with their love and support," he added.

Italian distributor Eagle Pictures has unveiled details of its new film and TV production arm which will be run by the company’s Roberto Proia and Maria Grazia Vairo.

Omerta is not an easy film to watch. Terror and terrorism have afflicted our cinema in ways that are both life-changing and long-lasting. Omerta takes both the routes and comes up with some dead ends in the narrative, much like what often occurs in violent lives...
