The Dead Thing begins with a familiar scenario: Alex, a young woman entangled in the monotonous cycle of modern dating, scrolls through an endless stream of potential matches on dating apps, searching for genuine connection amid superficial interactions. She connects with Kyle through the “Friktion” app—an attractive prospect who initially seems perfect and quickly captivates her.
Their early exchanges buzz with chemistry and excitement, presenting the illusion of contemporary romance without emotional depth. Suddenly, Kyle disappears without explanation, transforming the narrative into something more sinister: he is actually deceased.
Los Angeles serves as a critical canvas for exploring Alex’s emotional landscape. The city embodies emptiness—its architecture of stark office spaces, cluttered living quarters, and dimly lit social venues reflects Alex’s internal void. Digital interactions promise shallow connections but ultimately fail to create meaningful relationships. As Alex becomes consumed with reconnecting to Kyle, the urban environment pulses with an underlying tension,...

Marvel's Ultimate Universe just offered an incredible Kraven the Hunter moment, which fans of the legendary villain should absolutely check out if they were underwhelmed by the cinematic take on the character's origins. In an homage to the antagonist's most classic arcs, Ultimate Spider-Man has quickly established itself as the definitive contemporary take on the character.
Ultimate Spider-Man #12 – written by Jonathan Hickman, with art by Marco Checchetto – concludes with the shocking reveal that fledgling superheroes Peter Parker and Harry Osborn have been captured by Kraven, with the pair set to become Kraven’s newest prey in the coming issues of Ultimate Spider-Man.
Ultimate Kraven has quickly confirmed that he is as deadly as ever before, in a story arc that is likely to "scratch an itch," so to speak, for Spidey fans who weren't satisfied by Sony's Kraven standalone film.

Sony has released three films this year as part of its Spider-Man Universe. Madame Web was a box office disappointment, grossing $43.8 million in the U.S. and Canada, and $56.7 million internationally, for a total of $100.5 million worldwide. The film also received poor critical reviews. Venom: The Last Dance had a slow start in North America but managed to recover thanks to strong international performance.
The latest release, and reportedly the last for now, is Kraven the Hunter. The movie has earned $18.5 million in the U.S. and Canada, and $25.4 million overseas, totaling $43.9 million worldwide. It was also met with negative feedback from both critics and audiences.
It’s clear that Sony’s future with Spider-Man spinoffs is uncertain, and CEO Tony Vinciquerra agrees. However, he offers a different perspective, blaming the press for the films’ poor performance.

The trailer for The Witcher 4 showcases Ciri several years after the ending of the previous game, The Witcher 3, slaying monsters as a Witcher just like Geralt before her. It's clear that the game will follow this younger Witcher during a new journey, meaning that certain events from the last game must now be set in stone.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has several dozen possible variations on its ending, including the many different choices made throughout the game for various side quests. For years, the fan base has wondered which of these endings will be considered canon if the series moves forward with another game. And now, thanks to this trailer, the canon ending of The Witcher 3 is clearer than ever.

The Winter Wonderland event is returning to Overwatch 2 this December, with lots of freebies for participating players - as well as the return of 6v6 battles. Winter Wonderland has been Overwatch's annual holiday season event since the original game's release in 2016, featuring unique game modes, exclusive cosmetics, and maps decked out with Christmasy flair. It's since become something of a yearly tradition, with players looking forward to the unique challenges and festive skins brought on by the in-game event.
Last year's Winter Wonderland caused some controversy when, instead of rewarding players with event items when they completed certain in-game quests, it required players to earn and spend an event-exclusive virtual currency called Tickets. Thankfully, things work somewhat differently this year, with plenty of skins available absolutely free just by playing the game. Here's how to participate in Overwatch 2's Winter Wonderland event, and what you can expect to find when you do.

For a game that’s over five years old, Hunt: Showdown has been going through a lot of changes this year. In August, there was a massive engine update that came with an additional roaming boss, a Ui overhaul, and the first new map in three years. Despite some Ui quirks, which have been a bit smoothed out since then, it was a great update that made an excellent game even better.
This past October, we saw the first crossover in Hunt: Showdown history with the release of a character based on Scream’s iconic Ghostface. This one felt a little weird because, while they made some stylistic changes, it didn’t really fit the setting of Hunt for me.
Last week, they launched their second crossover, an event crossover with musician Post Malone, an idea that made me even more skeptical than the Ghostface skin. But the more they revealed about the event,...

The Office has its fair share of awkward and cringeworthy moments that make us want to hide inside a blanket and look away from the screen. Whether it’s Toby caressing Pam’s knee and then jumping over the gate or the entire Scott’s Tots episode, some moments simply cause us Physical pain. One such scene was the kiss between Steve Carell and Oscar Nuñez’s characters, Michael and Oscar.
The Office Season 3 Episode 1 | Credits: NBC
In an attempt to prove that he’s not homophobic, Michael decides that words are simply not enough. No, no, no. In a very Michael way, he comes up with the only appropriate idea he could think of – kissing Oscar. As it turns out, the kiss was entirely Steve Carell’s idea and his co-stars had no idea what was coming their way.

Kraven the Hunter is now playing in theaters but it wasn't always the plan for the villain to get his own movie in Sony's Spider-Man Universe.
What you might not realise is that Marvel Studios hoped to use the character not just in its Spider-Man franchise (which is produced in partnership with Sony) but Black Panther as well. In fact, filmmaker Ryan Coogler hoped to put Sergei Kravinoff front and centre in T'Challa's first solo outing.
"Being a Marvel fan, you want to grab all the characters," he said shortly after Black Panther's release in 2018. "You realise there’s contractual things. You don’t have that character. There was a Christopher Priest run that was pretty heavy, there’s a big scene where Panther’s fighting Kraven, Kraven the Hunter."
"I’ve always loved Kraven the Hunter in almost every iteration. So there was a moment – ‘Can I grab Kraven?...

Kraven the Hunter has started rolling out into theaters and, well, it's going to be an interesting weekend for what could end up being Sony's final villain-led movie in a franchise that kinda, sorta launched with 2018's Venom.
Like Madame Web before it, Kraven the Hunter is treated as a "standalone" story so there's no sign of Morbius or The Vulture to see if he fancies joining their team to "do some good." The movie still sets up a sequel, though.
During the final act, crimelord Aleksei Sytsevich and The Foreigner team up to take Kraven down. They've abducted his beloved brother, Dmitri, leaving Kraven and Calypso to gear up for a battle where the odds definitely aren't in their favour.
Kraven lays waste to Sytsevich's goons but is stopped in his tracks by The Foreigner's hypnotic powers; the Hunter imagines he's being surrounded by, ahem, spiders, but is...

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (Ssu) was a film franchise centered around characters from Spider-Man-related Marvel Comics. It began in 2013, with Sony planning spin-offs from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, including a Venom movie.
After The Amazing Spider-Man 2 underperformed, Sony partnered with Marvel Studios to bring Spider-Man into the MCU, while continuing to develop a separate Venom universe.
The Ssu included the Venom franchise, Morbius, Madame Web, and the upcoming Kraven the Hunter. Most of these films received poor reviews, with Morbius and Madame Web particularly criticized.
As Kraven the Hunter prepares for its release, early projections for the movie’s box office performance are grim. These projections, based on pre-sale data and key metrics, are often a reliable indicator of a film’s success, though not always 100% accurate. If a movie is projected to earn $30 million, for example, it’s unlikely to gross $250 million on opening weekend, with final numbers...

After the Venom trilogy and the Madame Web film, Marvel is now turning its attention to Kraven the Hunter. While the success and future of this new movie are currently unknown, Marvel already has the perfect plot for a blockbuster sequel. If Kraven is going to stick around, there's no reason that Marvel can't take from the best story Kraven has been in, and one movie star agrees.

It's official: The Hunt for Gollum is a midquel. Co-writer/producer Philippa Boyens has just revealed that the upcoming The Lord of the Rings movie will run parallel to the early events of The Fellowship of the Ring.

Sony’s Kraven the Hunter is nearby, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson has some big ideas for future characters. Kraven the Hunter will be the latest addition to Sony’s Spider-Man universe, introducing audiences to a fierce predator with wild abilities. But don’t you think there’s one major piece missing here? Kraven the Hunter is the next Spider-Man villain to hit the big screen in a solo project. However, Aaron Taylor-Johnson would like his titular character to cross paths with the famous Marvel hero at some point.
"I mean, it's very much the question to everyone else really, right?" Taylor-Johnson told Screen Rant when asked if the comic book enemies need to face-off to bring the upcoming movie together. "Because I think what we've done… what we've set up in this story is a really rich character that definitely has the legs to go on and do more damage. It’s an understatement to say that anticipation is high for “Squid Game“ Season 2.
More than three years have passed since the South Korean dystopian survival thriller debuted Sept. 17, 2021, quickly ascending to the top of Netflix’s streaming charts and becoming its most popular and most-watched show ever — a distinction it holds to this day. The worldwide acclaim led “Squid Game” to collect dozens of accolades in the year that followed, including historic acting wins at the Emmys, the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards, while also increasing Netflix’s value by almost $1 billion and cementing itself as a ubiquitous global hit, spawning the controversial real-life competition show “Squid Game: The Challenge.”
“Squid Game” mastermind Hwang Dong-hyuk, who initially intended for the Korean-language series about class disparity and economic inequity to be a one-season story, felt immense pressure in crafting a sophomore follow-up — all seven episodes of which drop Dec.

The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum could provide audiences with a take on one major unanswered J.R.R. Tolkien question regarding Legolas. The Hunt for Gollum's story is based on the appendices of The Return of the King, detailing events set during The Fellowship of the Ring where Gandalf tasked Aragorn with capturing Gollum for information. Before the Council of Elrond and the creation of the Fellowship, Aragorn successfully captured Gollum and brought him back to Mirkwood for interrogation. Audiences may remember Mirkwood from The Hobbit films as the home of Legolas and his father, Thranduil.
With that in mind, there's reason to suspect Thranduil might have a role in the upcoming film, which would be exciting given Lee Pace's growing popularity in recent years. While The Hobbit paints him as something of a self-righteous figure, which resulted in his performance receiving a mixed response around the trilogy's release,...

The 2000s were pretty interesting times for the realm of superheroes. While fans were being bombarded with critically panned superhero flicks like Catwoman and Daredevil on one hand, we also got to experience genre-bending releases like the Raimi trilogy and Christopher Nolan’s Batman films.

Luca Guadagnino recounted being awestruck by Sam Raimi’s reimagining of the Spider-Man mythos, which made the director adamant about making his own Spider-Man movie with Andrew Garfield at the forefront.

The Eye of the World is a near-perfect beginning to The Wheel of Time series. The second book in author Robert Jordan's series, The Great Hunt, isn't as fast-paced as its predecessor, but it still moves well, especially the last 100 pages.
The Great Hunt begins to flesh out important characters merely introduced in the first book. This includes Elayne, a princess trainging to be an Aes Sedai; and Min, a mysterious young woman who sees flashes of people's futures. Both become main characters throughout the series, and it feels like it starts here.
Readers also meet more Aes Sedai sorceresses and get our first look into the White Tower, where they are trained. In The Eye of the World, the only Aes Sedai present are Moiraine and (very briefly) Elaida. Right away in the second book, the leader of the Aes Sedai, the Amyrlin Seat, makes an unexpected visit...

Updated: Back in the White House soon, Donald Trump looks to have succeeded in his quest to stay out of prison.
In an unsurprising move, the former and future president and convicted felon won’t be sentenced on Tuesday in his New York hush-money case. The very high-profile criminal case saw Trump found guilty in May on 34 counts of falsifying business records to make and conceal payments to squelch media reports of an affair with adult entertainer Stormy Daniels getting out before the 2016 election.
The judge in the case, Juan Merchan, on Friday morning said sentencing is “adjourned” and granted motions from both parties to argue for and against a dismissal of Trump’s conviction, setting aside the November 26 sentencing date that was chosen before the former president was re-elected.

Loid Forger's fortunes with Operation Strix are unclear in recent Spy x Family arcs, and I've been enjoying the story's renewed focus. While the series often turns into a blend of slice-of-life with a looming consequential plot, I strongly appreciated Tatsuya Endo's deliberate pacing. But with focus returning to the Desmond family, and their crucial connections to each of the Forgers, it's fascinating seeing how Endo teases their dynamics with each other and Ostanian society. While perhaps not as overtly thrilling as recent arcs, the Desmond family secrets are beginning to surface in Spy x Family.
Operation Strix is the Westalian intelligence mission to broker peace with Ostania, mainly through Donovan Desmond, chairman of his country's National Unity Party. To play up the difficulty and rarity of encounters with Donovan and his clan, Tatsuya Endo has carefully fleshed out other story arcs in Spy x Family to build the manga's world around the plot.

The Lord of the Rings is seeing a resurgence, and the upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum movie could set up a key shift in the franchise. The new Gollum movie will be directed by Andy Serkis and will also star him as the eponymous Gollum. Showing Gollum's perspective, the movie has a shot at elaborating on some of Lord of the Rings' most intriguing characters. Gandalf and Sauron are both fairly likely to feature in the movie in some way, allowing it to tackle Sauron's aggressive part in the War of the Ring.
This is due to the movie's timeframe - it is set between Bilbo's birthday party and the Fellowship entering Moria. The movie is poised to cover storylines featuring both characters. Peter Jackson's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies creatively interpreted literature's greatest villain - Sauron, of course.
