Does no harm, but brings little laughter to the wards

A vanilla sitcom, set in a hospital, that doesn't push the envelope in any way (cf. Green Wing). Pretty harmless, but not particularly entertaining.

Having watched the first episode, I wasn't enticed to watch the final two.

The most interesting aspect was Rutger Hauer's character. As well portrayed as you'd expect by such an experienced and talented actor; and nicely scripted. But he's too much of a background ("Zen Master") character, to really pull you in. No "I've seen bedpans on fire off the shoulder of Orion" moments, I'm afraid.

Second series so much better

I laughed out loud. The second series is far better than the first with some really funny stories to the episodes. The disdain from higher grades to lower grades is hysterical (I don't know if that realistic, if so not sure how funny it would actually be)

Brilliant!

I love comedy so much and most comedy programmes are a bit rubbish! This however, is refreshing, simply amazing! I can honestly say I was laughing the whole way through.

Clever writing and fantastic chosen cast, everyone brought their own flavour and beauty (Claudia Jessie is gorgeous and refreshingly funny, I've seen her in a few things already)

Porters is shockingly wonderful! A great show, I'm sad there are not more episodes than 3.

Look forward to series 2?

Poor, stale comedy

Oh why Rutger, why? This series lacks the character to even be described as bad. Back when laugh tracks were a thing you could get away with this, but now without the canned variety to coerce the real thing?

Refreshing yet familiar sitcom

After all the vacuous attempts at new comedy "lets make it weird to please the millennials" this sitcom is refreshingly normal and funny. No American style one-liners just well written dialogue with no pausing or smirking whilst listening to audience fake laughter. From the opening clever credits through every well directed scene the actors are given room to present their craft. Will it be a Blackadder or a Fawlty Towers, probably not, but my guess on a par with Black Books. Hauer is fairly wooden in everything he does and Porters is no exception but maybe the old "stager" will grow into his role much like the Colonel in MASH did after 50 episodes. Well worth watching and a good laugh.

Didn't do it for me

I like these English silly shows, but this is one I don't like.

It's not funny, just chaotic and strange.

Why did Rutger (Dutch like me) play a German person? Strange, perhaps because he looks like an Ariër?

Well this is not my cup of tea or nicht meine Tasse Kaffee!

Best comedy in years.

I thought hospital based comedy was finished. Doing it from the point of view of porters instead of doctors and nurse is refreshing. Only disappointment is there were only three episodes. I really hope there will be more to come.

Brilliant

A cracking idea but why only three episodes? Let's hope we get more. The whole package is spot on - It has first-rate writing, good pace and a terrific cast. Edward Easton is a superbly innocent fall guy and the rest of the cast hardly notice bringing him down. It's like sit-coms used to be - funny. Unlike anything from Gervais or, it hurts me to say, Coogan.

Porters

I used to be an Hospital Porter, RNH HASLAR Military - NHS mixed, Gosport, Hants, England. We had a lot of laughs with the Job and Armed Forces, you need a sense of Humour in an Hospital. Bring Porters back, it was a good laugh, R. I. P. Rutger...

A cracking idea but why only three episodes? There looks to be bags of potential here so let's hope we get more. The whole package is absolutely spot on - first-rate writing, good pacing and terrific casting. Edward Easton is a superbly innocent fall guy surrounded by an excellent cast who hardly even notice bringing him down. It's a comedy of the old sort. In other words, funny, unlike anything from Gervais or, it hurts me to say, Coogan.
