Image
If you’ve been watching anime for a while, you completely understand the shojo formula: shy girl meets her ideal guy, there’s a school festival going on, which may involve a misunderstanding or two, and then there’s a grand confession amid fireworks or falling snow, and voila, “a happy ending”.

10 Most Controversial Shojo Tropes
Image
The first shojo-focused magazine was published in 1902, and since then, shojo has exploded into one of anime's most popular genres. The opposite of shonen, anime that cater specifically to adolescent men, shojo anime cater more to young women. Rather than focusing on explosive fights, intriguing skillsets and saving the world from evil, shojo anime focuses more on relationships between people, discovering one's true feelings and sense of self, and the exploration of gender and sexuality.

The best shojo anime feature healthy relationships that blossom over time and teach valuable life lessons, but shojo anime is sadly also filled with many tropes that viewers find questionable at best. Live-Action Yu Yu Hakusho Trailer Released in Netflix's Geeked Week
Image
The first official teaser trailer for the live-action Netflix adaptation of Yu Yu Hakusho, the popular Shonen Jump series by Yoshihiro Togashi, is now available online.

On its official YouTube account, Netflix uploaded an extensive look at its live-action adaptation of Yu Yu Hakusho in preparation for its Dec. 14 release. Perhaps the greatest alteration to the original manga storyline is the early inclusion of the Toguro brothers, reminiscent of Arlong's early introduction in the live-action One Piece series for Netflix.
