‘Sting’ Review: A Worthy Addition to the Killer Spider Movie Subgenre
Image
A scene from ‘Sting’ (Photo Courtesy of Well Go USA Entertainment)

From Arachnophobia to Itsy Bitsy, from Tarantula to Abyssal Spider, killer spider movies have always been in style. But there’s something special about the newest eight-legged offering, Sting. Sting is everything that’s amazing about creature features.

Sting is about a young girl named Charlotte (Alyla Browne from the unfortunate Children of the Corn remake) who spends her time drawing comics and creeping into her neighbors’ apartments by crawling through the apartment building’s air ducts. One day while doing the latter, she comes across a cute little spider which she takes home and names Sting – not after the rock star or the wrestler, but after the short sword in The Hobbit. Yes, Charlotte is a dork.

But Sting isn’t a normal, run-of-the-mill spider. It’s an alien spider that crashed on Earth in a meteorite. First,...

‘Itsy Bitsy’ VOD Review
Stars: Bruce Davison, Elizabeth Roberts, Denise Crosby, Arman Darbo, Chloe Perrin | Written by Micah Gallo, Bryan Dick, Jason Alvino | Directed by Micah Gallo

Based on a story by Micah Gallo, who also directs and co-writes the screenplay here alongside Bryan Dick and Jason Alvino, Itsy Bitsy is Gallo’s feature debut, having only worked previously on shorts, as well as a part of visual effects teams on dozens of movies, from the Hatchet trilogy to The Innkeepers.

Now, I’m a fan of the ole “creature feature” but it’s fair to say films in this specific sub-genre are few and far between these days. Spiders are always a good choice for a creature feature horror film, because spiders, after-all, are a widely spread fear around the world. They have eight legs, they can walk on your ceilings, and you never know where the buggers are lurking, so… that’s some solid horror right there,...

Directed and produced by Micah Gallo (Wick) alongside special effects master Dan Rebert (True Blood), Itsy Bitsy stars Bruce Davison, Elizabeth Roberts, Denise Crosby, Arman Darbo and Chloe Perrin.

Itsy Bitsy weaves a character-driven story of responsibility, love and loss set against a terrifying backdrop of chilling scares and monstrous legends. When Kara (Elizabeth Roberts) a single mother struggling to raise two children in New York City, receives a job offer to work as a private nurse in the mid-West, it’s an opportunity she can’t refuse. So, she uproots her family, moving them to the remote farm owned by Walter (Golden Globe®-winner Bruce Davison), a semi-retired antiquities appraiser who has multiple sclerosis. At first, things seem normal enough. But what Kara doesn’t know is...

An Eight Legged Horror Emerges Tonight with Micah Gallo's Itsy Bitsy: Release Details
Itsy Bitsy is a horror film with lots of spiders. Developed by first time feature film director Micah Gallo, this title involves a single mother and a move to small guesthouse. Inside the new home, Kara must look after an aging antiquities collector, Walter. Once an ancient artifact is found, this family is put in jeopardy. Itsy Bitsy centrally stars Elizabeth Roberts as Kara, along with Bruce Davison (Along Came the Devil), Chloe Perrin and Treva Etienne. The film is out now and the latest release details are hosted here. Recently, director Gallo has been interviewed on this title. Developed from a Kickstarter campaign, Gallo also mentions his influences for the film: "[its] something like Jaws with edgy character drama. Kind of like The Exorcist. But really, if you're familiar with something like Q the Winged Serpent or Of Unknown Origin (Movieweb)." This filmmaker knows his horror films. Gallo also studied...

Itsy Bitsy Review: Killer Spider Movie Will Make Your Skin Crawl
Elizabeth Roberts in Itsy Bitsy (2019)
Itsy Bitsy will creep you out if you're deathly afraid of spiders, but you're still bound to have a good time watching it. From director Micah Gallo, the movie follows a young, single mother of two and her struggles with parenting, drug addiction, and taking up a new job in the country as a private nurse to an antique appraiser. Oh, and all the while, the family is stalked and terrorized by an ancient evil entity taking the form of a giant, carnivorous spider. Certainly, that sounds a bit extreme on paper, but Itsy Bitsy can in fact be a pleasant surprise for those who associate giant spider movies with cheese-fests like Eight Legged Freaks and Spiders 3D, offering viewers a different kind of killer spider movie.

To boot, Itsy Bitsy is definitely not a horror movie in the traditional sense. Gorehounds may be left eager anticipating the movie's death scenes,...

Itsy Bitsy Director Micah Gallo Talks Crafting a Real, Creepy Spider Movie [Exclusive]
Micah Gallo
Spiders are one of the things we, as humans, are commonly terrified of. I count myself in that category. And yet, I adore horror movies focused on the creepy, crawly creatures. Arachnophobia, Eight Legged Freaks. I eat it up. And thanks to effects guru turned director Micah Gallo, the new generation has a scary spider flick of their own to enjoy in the form of Itsy Bitsy.

The upcoming creature feature includes a cast featuring Elizabeth Roberts, Denise Crosby, Arman Darbo, Chloe Perrin and character actor extraordinaire, Bruce Davison. It also features some incredible practical creature effects, especially for something that started life as a Kickstarter-funded movie. I recently had the chance to speak with Micah Gallo about directing his first feature, his history with the business and much more. So, without further adieu, here's our chat.

Congratulations. As I understand, this is your first full feature. And the...

A Giant Spider Terrorizes a Family in Teaser Trailer For Itsy Bitsy
I’ve got a super fun trailer for you to watch today for a new horror thriller called Itsy Bitsy, and it’s going to be especially fun for those of you who hate spiders! You see, the movie centers around a giant spider who terrorizes a family!

Here’s the synopsis that has been released for the movie that offers us some insight into the story and where it came from:

A story tangled up in a web of family drama, personal demons, and a horrifying monster.

Based on the centuries-old poem, a family moves into a secluded mansion where they soon find themselves being targeted by an ancient entity taking the form of a giant spider.

Kara, a private nurse and single mother, moves from the big city to the quiet countryside with her two children, 13-year-old Jesse and 8-year-old Cambria, to live with and take care of...

Arachnophobie (1990)
Itsy Bitsy Trailer Will Creep Out Anyone with a Deathly Fear of Spiders
Arachnophobie (1990)
I don't know about you, but if there is one thing on this great green Earth that scares the hell out of me it's... snakes! But spiders are pretty creepy too. And if you're left running for the door by classic movies such as Arachnophobia and Kingdom of the Spiders then you're really going to want to go ahead and find another article to read today as the poster and, especially, the trailer for Itsy Bitsy is bound to give even spider-lovers a solid dose of the heeby-jeebies.

Personally, I think the filmmakers behind this movie have managed to nail how to make a perfect spider-nightmare on-screen. I mean movies such as the above-mentioned Arachnophobia are fun as hell, but a bunch of small spiders running around is only so scary to this guy. Then on the other end of the spectrum, we have movies such as the aptly titled...

Creepy Giant Spider Haunts a Family in First 'Itsy Bitsy' Teaser Trailer
"Went up the water spout..." This looks scary as all hell. Scream Factory has debuted the first teaser trailer for a new indie horror feature titled Itsy Bitsy, from filmmaker Micah Gallo (a VFX producer making his feature directorial debut). As the title hints at, this is a new horror movie about a giant spider but this time it's actually, seriously scary - not some fake looking bug. This one looks real, and giant, and the shots in this will give you the creeps. Don't watch if you hate spiders (like me) - it'll ruin your day/week/year/life. "A creepy-crawly creature feature based on the centuries-old poem, Itsy Bitsy weaves a sinister web of family drama, personal demons, and a horrifying monster." It stars Bruce Davison, Denise Crosby, Elizabeth Roberts, Arman Darbo, Chloe Perrin, Treva Etienne, and Eileen Dietz. Tread carefully, my friends. Here's the teaser trailer (+ two...

Berlin: ‘Rattlesnakes,’ ‘Suzi Q,’ ‘Itsy Bitsy’ Join Kew Slate
Julius Amedume’s neo-noir psychological thriller “Rattlesnakes,” rock documentary “Suzi Q” and the elevated horror thriller “Itsy Bitsy” are among the new titles that Kew Media Distribution will be introducing to buyers at Berlin’s European Film Market, which kicks off Thursday.

They join a slate that includes three buzz-worthy documentaries: Rodney Ascher’s “Glitch in the Matrix, Michael Jackson expose “Leaving Neverland,” one of the talking points at Sundance, and Nick Broomfield’s “Marianne & Leonard – Words of Love,” also a hot title in Park City.

Scripted and directed by Amedume, “Rattlesnakes” tells the story of California life guru and family man Robert McQueen. Crowdfund This: Itsy Bitsy Mixes Practical FX and Charatcter Actors in a Return to 80s Genre
From the look of the trailer, Itsy Bitsy is a return to solid character acting (Denise Crosby! Bruce Davison!) and practical creature special effects with its animatronic spiders. Interview: Filmmaker Micah Gallo on the Characters & Kickstarter Campaign for the Spider-Centric Thriller Itsy Bitsy
If you have arachnophobia, you might need to take a deep pull from an inhaler after watching the trailer for Itsy Bitsy, an upcoming horror film in which a single mother and her children are stalked by a spider that's large enough to haunt your dreams for life, but still compact enough to fit in your bathtub or under your bed...
