Lady Gaga is set to release her highly anticipated eighth studio album, Mayhem, this Friday (March 7th). The pop superstar says the new LP is inspired by ’90s music like Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead, among other acts. In fact, in a new interview with Consequence, she noted that the record has “’90s grunge influence, 2000s pop influence, funk influence, ’80s influence.”
While introducing the Nin song “Closer” on her new pop-up SiriusXM channel “Gaga Radio,” the singer talked about discovering “heavier and intense” music: “When I heard Johnny Cash do [Nine Inch Nails’] ‘Hurt,’ I realized that so many different kinds of music could find their way into these sorts of sounds.”

Shojo anime are stories written and marketed for a young female audience, though they are enjoyed by a wide variety of viewers. While shojo anime covers too many genres to be considered formulaic, there are many popular tropes that pop up in shojo anime. Shojo fans enjoy them in classic titles and in newer releases.
Some tropes go in and out of vogue, but for the most part, they tend to be staples of the demographic, like tsundere love interests and compassionate protagonists. Some newer titles will subvert time-old tropes, or parody them. Either way, there are plenty of shojo titles that include them perfectly in their plots.

One of the most emotionally complex songs Beck has written is “Lost Cause,” which is sadder than your average breakup song because it’s more about resignation than remorse. The lyrics echo the adage that the divorce happens long before the divorce. Beck was 32 years old when the song came out two years after he discovered his fiancée was cheating on him (with a member of a band called Whiskey Biscuit), and he practically sighs every lyric: “I’m tired of fighting, fighting for a lost cause.”

Welcome to Plathville star Moriah Plath is still reeling after a heartbreaking split with Matthew Craven, and I believe that she chooses shady men because of her upbringing. Yes, everyone has their type - dating other sorts of people may feel impossible. However, Moriah really needs to try. The bad boys she's dating make it too hard for her to enjoy life. As soon as she begins to trust one, whether it's Max Kallschmidt or Matthew, he cheats on her.
That's what bad boys do, but Moriah may subconsciously choose men who will hurt her because she got used to being criticized as a child.
When parents disapprove, and unconditional love isn't really a thing, a person may feel like they deserve the worst. They may not even realize that they're dating bad people just to replay the psychodrama of their youth, and hopefully get a different result. However, that...

Bushell posted the clip to social media on Wednesday (August 7th), writing that she was so taken by the Downward Spiral cut, as well as the Johnny Cash version, that she felt compelled to put her own spin on it.
“I discovered the song ‘Hurt’ by Trent Renzor and Nine Inch Nails from the Johnny Cash version. It’s so powerful,” she stated. “Obviously, I can’t [relate] to the lyrics. Furiosa faces a significant challenge at the box office, as it must exceed the success of Mad Max: Fury Road to ensure the franchise's future. The new Mad Max film will have tough competition from Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which has a stronger track record at the box office. The success of Furiosa is crucial for the Mad Max franchise to survive, as future films will only be made if they continue to be profitable.
Although there is a considerable amount of excitement prior to Furiosa's release in 2024, there's also a major challenge ahead when it comes to the movie's box office prospects. The Mad Max franchise came back to life thanks to its reboot in 2014 with Mad Max: Fury Road, which made quite an impact at that time commercially and critically. Fear Street 4's announcement spells trouble for Goosebumps, as the two projects will inevitably be pitted against each other due to their similar content. Fear Street is currently more popular and better received than Goosebumps, with higher Rotten Tomatoes scores and a larger following due to its three films compared to Goosebumps' one season. The scarier and more exciting nature of Fear Street appeals more to older audiences, while Goosebumps has a nostalgic value and is more childlike. Fear Street 4 is generating more hype than Goosebumps season 2.
Now that Netflix has announced another installment in the Fear Street franchise, Fear Street 4, there is no hope for Disney's Goosebumps adaptation. Both Fear Street and Goosebumps are book series written by the author R.L. Stine. Fear Street follows a group of teenagers that uncover a horrific, generations-long secret in their home town, meanwhile Goosebumps is a long-running series of children's horror stories.

Disney's live-action remake of Snow White has faced criticism for its casting choices and changes to the original plot, including the replacement of the seven dwarfs with magical creatures. Nadia Stacey, a member of the movie's hair and makeup department, denies reports of a change in the characters, stating that the original seven dwarfs have always been part of the story. Despite criticism, Disney's live-action remakes have consistently performed well at the box office, and Snow White may face a similar scenario, with the star power of Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot potentially attracting audiences despite the film's delays and high budget.
Beyond its recent one-year delay, Disney's upcoming live-action remake of Snow White has been in the eye of the storm on several occasions, and some of the reasons have to do with one of the most important elements of the film's mythology, the seven dwarfs.

Adam Sandler's realistic acting approach in the dodgeball scene of Billy Madison caused controversy as he hit child actors hard, making some cry. Despite the backlash, there were no long-term injuries and the producers decided to keep the scene in the film due to the strong relationships and funny moments it showcased. Sandler's camaraderie with the child actors in the movie is what draws audiences back to revisit Billy Madison and its humorous quotes.
While much of the plot of Adam Sandler's breakout hit Billy Madison remains implausible and unrealistic, one scene in the comedian's movie caused some serious real problems behind the scenes. Adam Sandler has been in the industry for decades now, long enough so that certain on-set protocols followed today may not have been followed so stringently during the filming of some of his earlier movies. As with Depraved, writer-director Larry Fessenden returns to the world of classic, Universal-inspired monsters in Blackout. Whereas that title brought the mythos of Frankenstein’s monster (and its ample room for social commentary) into the present-day, this latest update shifts focus towards the so-called “wolfman.”
How does knowing he potentially killed innocent people affect Charley (Alex Hurt)? How can he keep pretending his life is simple and his love (with Addison Timlin’s Sharon) pure when a cloud of uncertain violence looms above the three-day nightly windows he cannot remember each month? Because while his actually being a werewolf is presented with enough ambiguity to make the truth part of the intrigue, Fessenden pulls no punches insofar as making certain we know Charley is at fault. He sees glimpses of his victims’ faces and, as an artist, paints them to try severing their hold. So while he might not be...

Pedro Pascal recently revealed that he was afraid to star in HBO's The Last of Us
Pascal recalled his initial reservations about signing on to portray protagonist Joel in the video game adaptation during an actors' roundtable event hosted by The Hollywood Reporter. "I was scared. I was so scared," he said. "Because there was more of an exposed silhouette, a silhouette of coolness maybe, and an expectation to be met as far as what people's immersive experience of the story was. And to disappoint them in that regard felt like it would be… I don't know. You don't want to let people down, but also nobody's impervious to disappointing people. I want people to like me."

The Stranger Things season 4 cast is ever-expanding, and it features a staggering number of new and recurring characters. The Duffer brothers' true genius lies in their ability to continually expand the number of characters in Stranger Things, somehow without compromising the narrative momentum at all. To be fair, Stranger Things season 4 was helped by extended episode lengths — episode 9 was 2 hours 30 minutes — making it the equivalent of an entire movie. But balancing all these characters and storylines was still an accomplishment nonetheless.

A devastating couplet is every pop star’s secret weapon. Whether it’s Morrissey grumbling about having to go to bed with nothing but a Sylvia Plath anthology for warmth or Kate Bush crooning sweet nothings-that-are-actually-dark-somethings lyrics illuminate and elevate a song. Words bring clarity and drama, opening a secret passage to an artist’s internal life.
Or that is at least the case when they transcend mere bubble-gum and strain for grandeur. The power of a musician’s words has been acknowledged of late in surprising places. Bob Dylan, who once wrote “Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a gypsy queen/Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle all dressed in green”, was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2016, while rapper Kendrick Lamar won a 2018 Pulitzer prize for his supremely literate Damn album.

Fresh off of its original seven-episode British run on BBC One, Adam Kay’s black comedy-drama “This is Going to Hurt” arrives on AMC this week, ready to give American audiences a taste of its wicked wit. Based on his nonfiction comedy novel of the same name, ‘Hurt’ brings a unique perspective to the UK medical scene circa 2006, providing a hearty dose of sociopolitical commentary in between bone-dry humor and painfully relatable interpersonal drama.

On Monday’s “The Late Show,” Stephen Colbert kicked things off with a cold open gag inspired by the recent uproar over Spotify’s deal with podcaster Joe Rogan, because of the the huge amount of factually incorrect information about vaccines and Covid-19 featured on his show.
The gag was simple: A Spotify playlist where each selected song formed part of a sentence advancing lies about Covid-19 vaccines.
Of course, if you need a quick catch up: Last week Neil Young removed his music from Spotify in protest of Rogan. The same week, more than 200 scientists and medical experts released an open letter urging Spotify to quit promoting vaccine misinformation. And on Friday, Joni Mitchell announced she would be removing her music from Spotify to show solidarity with Young.
This has resulted in Spotify taking a huge stock market hit, and now it says it will add content warnings to podcasts touching on Covid.

On May 11, Arlo Parks took to the Brit Awards stage to perform a stripped-back rendition of her latest track, "Hope." The singer's performance began with a digital projection, featuring poetic words of hope and positivity on the screen, before Parks emerged in a metallic three-piece suit, surrounded by sunflowers. Parks' debut album, Collapsed in Sunbeams, released this year, and featured "Hope" as the latest single, following "Caroline," "Hurt," and "Eugene."
Other performers of the night included the likes of Dua Lipa, Brit rising star Griff, The Weeknd, Coldplay, Olivia Rodrigo, Headie One, and a special performance of "It's A Sin" by Olly Alexander and Sir Elton John, plus a performance from Rag 'n' Bone Man and P!Nk, featuring the NHS Greenwich choir.

Love it or hate it, one of the things that makes the Marvel Cinematic Universe work is the long term synergy. With Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, over a decade of movies came together to pull off one of the most entertaining spectacles of our time. It’s a universe that, for the most part, feels consistent and it builds on itself as each movie feels like an essential cog in a larger machine.
Some cogs are bigger than the others, though, and when it comes to “the others,” one can’t help but notice that 2008’s Incredible Hulk is something of a black sheep in the Marvel movie roster. These days, they’re just starting to dust it off as a property with the return of Tim Roth’s Abomination in She-Hulk and William Hurt’s General Ross’ gradually increasing role in the universe itself (he’ll appear...

1. “Bridgerton” Season 1
Why Should I Watch? Starring “Derry Girls” icon Nicola Coughlan and featuring Julie Andrews as a narrator named Lady Whistledown, Shonda Rhimes’ first Netflix original series already has three solid gold reasons to try out the hipper, hotter version of “Downton Abbey,” but here are a few more details. The period drama is based on Julia Quinn’s historical romance novels, where Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family, makes her debut onto Regency London’s competitive marriage market. But the eight-book series obviously needs more than just one character’s love story to fill all those pages, so you can expect to see the other Bridgerton children caught up in romantic entanglements of their own.
