Announced in development in August 2024, A24's The Drama is currently in post-production. Directed by Kristoffer Borgli (Dream Scenario), the upcoming film is a rom-com about an engaged couple (played by Zendaya and Robert Pattinson) facing a hurdle before the wedding. Details on the plot are scarce, but Pattinson already teased its layered meanings. Speaking to French outlet Premiere (via IndieWire), he recalled obsessing over one scene's context, so much so that he called Zendaya, who convinced him not to read too much into the script. Calmly assured, he realized he was overthinking.

However, the beginning is on a good note as it collected decent numbers on its debut weekend at the top of the domestic chart.

The film received a decent B on the CinemaScore platform, and the reviews are also favorable. Oppenheimer’s director, Christopher Nolan, has been very open about his preference for theatrical releases and his disdain for the streaming-first release model, to the point of releasing Tenet to low box office returns right in the middle of the Covid pandemic. But that doesn’t mean the executives of streaming services like Netflix necessarily agree. Believe it or not, once upon a time, Robert Pattinson was not considered a top-notch actor. Sad but true! Apple TV+ is bringing William Gibson’s famous sci-fi novel “Neuromancer” to life as a 10-episode drama, and Clémence Poésy is the newest actor to join the cast. She will star alongside Callum Turner, Brianna Middleton, Joseph Lee, and Mark Strong in this adaptation of the 1984 book that helped create the cyberpunk genre.

The series centers on Case, played by Turner, a skilled but troubled hacker. He teams up with Molly, portrayed by Middleton, a tough assassin with mirrored eyes. Together, they take on a dangerous job: stealing secrets from a powerful corporate family and hiding dark truths.

Live and Let Die star Jane Seymour believes the spy movie collection will do "really well" and isn't ruling out a return for a future sequel more than 50 years later.

Speaking with People, Seymour, who portrayed the Bond Girl, Solitaire, opposite the late Roger Moore's 007 in the Oscar-nominated Live and Let Die, declared Amazon's takeover the "end of an era" and "hopes" they will elevate the franchise following the move. This change of pace is already facing criticism thanks to the helmet being worn by Damon in the first look image which, according to history buffs, is woefully inaccurate to the point of parody.

Brahma, the AI arm of visual effects firm Dneg Group, has acquired Metaphysic, the company whose recent calling card was de-aging Tom Hanks and Robin Wright in the 2024 film Here.

The deal will enable Brahma to deliver more AI offerings for enterprise, IP rightsholders and content creators in the film business and other industries. Brahma will develop foundational AI, data, and content workflow and management technologies as part of a suite of products across video, image and audio.

Dneg Group is known for its work on major franchises like Dune and tentpoles including Blade Runner: 2049, Tenet and Interstellar.

After the transaction, Brahma will have more than 800 engineers and creative technologists in its global workforce. They will be able to leverage Ziva Technologies tools licensed by Dneg for the creation of digital human and character simulations. Metaphysic – the generative AI startup whose toolset was used to age and deage Tom Hanks and Robin Wright in Robert Zemeckis’ “Here” – has been acquired by Dneg Group’s AI company Brahma with an eye toward accelerating its AI tech development. The price of the transaction was not disclosed.

Dneg Group is also the privately held parent of VFX giant Dneg, whose work on “Dune: Part Two” won a BAFTA on Sunday and is VFX Oscar nominated; Prime Focus, developer of the Clear asset management tools; and Ziva, a 3D character creation toolmaker that Dneg acquired last year.

Brahma was launched in 2024 following a $200 million investment in Dneg Group by Abu Dhabi-based investor United Al Saqer Group. The Metaphysic acquisition is aimed at speeding up Brahma’s goal to build AI-powered tools for content creators across industries, to create professional content at scale.

The Odyssey cast continues to expand. Joining leads Matt Damon and Tom Holland in the upcoming Christopher Nolan movie are Jesse Garcia and Will Yun Lee.

Deadline was the first to report their casting in the movie. Both Garcia and Lee's roles remain under wraps. They join an all-star ensemble that includes Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Benny Safdie, and Charlize Theron, as well as Himesh Patel, Elliot Page, Bill Irwin, and Samantha Morton. Production on The Odyssey is expected to start in February 2025, with filming taking place in the United Kingdom, Morocco, and throughout the Aeolian Islands in Sicily, Italy. The movie will reportedly have an estimated production budget of $250 million, making it Nolan's third feature to carry a budget exceeding $200 million after Tenet ($200M) and The Dark Knight Rises ($250M).
