Lost its touch, but Varun Sharma was still amazing (Choocha)

I'm a great fan of the first movie that released in 2013 but this one really disappointed me as a sequel. This had to happen, there are changes that come with time but here the entire feel of the movie is different. It ultimately turned out to be a mainstream comedy which goes pointless in the end especially with its story. The previous one was pretty much an experimental comedy but it was engaging and something different, this one just has a bit more of tragic comedy A lot of overacting is done whereas some characters fade away, in the end Varun Sharma comes out as the highlight! All the comedy in the movie comes with him and Bholi too. It's not bad if you like to laugh and let loose but it does get boring and over dramatic in the second half especially. All Fukrey fans be ready to laugh again with Choocha's jokes but only if you can handle the story.

    A jam-packed movie. Well,

This is great for a one-time watch. The movie has retained some of the essence from the first installment including the background music score and the whole main cast intact. But what happened to the college entrance? Now they are just back in trouble of earning some good amount to do what?

Look, I'm a bit of a technical person and I'm probably not gonna dive into plotholes cus I mostly don't care them as I just miss them. Speaking of the music score, I love the way how the original background score made a comeback in here with some more songs which were good, except the ones with those big'ol dance moves. (I just hate those dance-songs because they are just distracting and I feel that each one's meaning is going to be a cliché. Our sinhala films are somehow the culprit for making me hate so.)

I am not clear whether this is a BGM or a song, but that "song" played at the chase scene, which goes somewhat like "Run" by AWOLNation (Even some vocals did say "RUN!" in Hindi - "BHAAG!") was the peak!

Is it me or did this get a bit surreal to be using animations? Anyhow, if that snake, and the tigress and cub at the zoo weren't specially trained real animals, they are way better than any work of animations I've seen in hindi movies. (If you are curious about how far animations can go awful in Hindi Films, then watch PM Narendra Modi (2022).)

However I felt that the flashlights/torches were acting up a bit. Everytime a torch beam hits the camera, the camera sensor or something weird at the post-production desk starts suffering from tinnitus at various frequencies. That ringing sound is better to be heard just a very few times cuz everyone's flashlights are not supposed to have some PWM Brightness control to excite our eyes like microphones.

When they found the tigress who managed to spawn from deep beneath the cave, those torchlights shone at its direction were bouncing like crazy as if each circle of light created by each torch were nothing but some random-motion screensaver thing.

And I'm just curious how Discharge lamps could appear in an ancient looking cave/tunnel network that our team just managed to reach by digging the ground down. That's not about the low-pressure sodium lamps at the end of it that looks like a sewer, but the greenish light at the middle of this maze-looking section.

Well, this all is just about some very brief spots of a great screenplay! And I beg you pardon for bothering about small things without thinking of the big picture like you guys.

To sum the things, Furkey Returns is more likely a different approach of bringing up those characters involved. The first movie from 2013 is just decent, down-to-earth and according to some others' words, experimental. Moreover, it has its own spirit that is way stronger than this one has.

    Cheers!

Quite hilarious, definitely better than Part 1

Watched part 1 and was since then waiting for part 2 to arrive. Must say that despite some weird reviews running the movie down, I found it to be quite hilarious.

I last saw Golmaal Again and cursed myself for watching it. Was just praying Fukrey Returns isn't like that otherwise I would never have gone to watch a sequel again. Thankfully, this is a great movie.

Everyone has acted well, there are a few dull moments here and there but every time Chucha comes on the screen, the movie picks pace.

Go watch it, you won't be disappointed!

Performances and dialogues, make it one time watch

Film is mainly saved by writer Vipul Vig's dialogues and actors. Main plot of collecting money from public and betting on lottery, run by Politician is very vaguely executed. If you are not aware of its first part then very difficult to understand what is going on and why? Politician turns the table to boys team, like cake walk then why was all that drama to hatch the plot. Bholey Panjaban is established, hand to mouth in jail suddenly she starts playing with lots of money even after her plan was failed!? She even finds new way of recovering money from her defaulters by trading their organs, just to make her realize that Choocha can still predict future!! And for sake of interval!? Film is in bits and pieces. You just enjoy few chunks of scenes then again get bored by next chunk. Pre climax is the dullest. Tigress, cub, the tunnel which turns proper lit on ceiling!!, and all that stuffs are simply meaning less. It was assumed that a Tigress living in Zoo, has find out or dug out, some tunnel which no one was aware and when all drama goes in premises, every time Zoo was closed for renovation but no workers or anyone were around. Yes, dialogues keep you entertained throughout, with topping of fine performances by most of the actors. They are so much into character that without saying a word they make you laugh. Varun Sharma as Choocha is hilarious and best. Second comes, Pankaj Tripathi as Panditji. Surprisingly, He always finds scope for showcasing his acting even if it doesn't remain on paper. Richa Chadda is fine. Manjyot Singh as Lali is good. An actor, who helps to save the boys after jumping in Jamuna is out standing in his brief role. His expressions are damn perfect. Rest actors are OK.

Choocha will tickle your funny bones - Go for it !!

Fukrey was a fresh concept with likable story, beautiful music and excellent performance by the new comers especially Varun Sharma. Will Fukrey Returns do justice to the cult classic ?

Bholi Punjaban (Richa Chaddha) is entangled in prison and desperately wants to come out. The only way out to adhere to the promise made to a local minister which again involves the four Fukreys.

Set in the lively city of Delhi , Fukrey Returns is fun to watch. The story does not have much to boast about and screenplay is timid but yet it is the execution of the plot filled with hilarious moments which makes it watchable. Mrigdeep Singh Lamba does a fairly good job in retaining the characters and sequence from the first part. Fukrey Returns will keep you entertained with comic scenes and is sure to bring down the house. The scene where a diver saves live of Choocha by mouth-to-mouth resuscitation is probably the best scene from the film and you will roll down the floor laughing. The scene at the dinner table with a local minister is again enjoyable. The frequent usage of English language by Pankaj Tripathi is fun to watch.

Of course, the sequel disappoints with few blemishes and loose screenplay. Music is a let down. Cinematoraphy is amazing capturing the locales of Delhi. Background score is good. Out of 4 protagonist , Pulkeet Samrat and and Varun Sharma stands out with superb chemistry. Both of them should be applauded for fine comic-timings. Richa Chadha and Pankaj Tripathi do lend in good support.

Fukrey Returns is a Laughton which will be remembered for its utmost hilarious moments. Go for it 3/5

Pandit: [Concealing his rage watching Varun Sharma sleeping whilst the rest are digging a tunnel in the park] Choocha Ji, don't know if we'd ever get the chance again. So, a question was running through my mind. Thought I should clarify: How did YOU arrive in this world, I mean how were you born ? Must be some reason behind it perhaps.

Choocha: [In his signature stupid tone] Pandit Ji, even I once asked Papaji the same thing. So he narrated me a story.

Pandit: [Comically freighted, knowing Sharma's stories are absurd] Even your father's fond of telling "stories" ?

Choocha: [Responding to Pankaj Tripathi in continued foolishness] Exactly Panditji, he's inherited MY genes afterall. Ok here it goes: Once, Papaji was going through a dark, dense forest. On the way, he saw an evil witch on whose lap was myself, the cutest of all Choocha. When Papaji approached that witch and called out "Hey evil witch, hand over that cute Choocha to me", the witch replied that "if you want this cute Choocha, you'll have to marry me first"..

Bholi Punjaban: [Interrupting Varun Sharma] Hey, what nonsense are you telling ?

Choocha: [Thinking Richa Chaddha indeed thinks of him as her boyfriend] Look Bholi, don't interrupt my stories ok. You know I don't like it.

      [Returning to Pankaj Tripathi]

Choocha: Yes Panditji where was I ?

Pandit: [Having given up all hope of reality from Varun Sharma] That witch demanded your Papaji to marry her.

Choocha: Yeah. So that witch demanded that if he wanted me, he'd have to marry her. For a while Papaji thought quite deeply, but for my sake he ended up marrying that witch. But one thing isn't clear yet.

Pandit: [Scared further] What's that ?

Choocha: Whenever I ask Papaji who was that witch anyway, why does Mummy Ji beat me with a broomstick ?

Pandit: [In a deadpan voice] I've to meet your Papaji someday.

Choocha: Would be tough. He doesn't talk to suspicious people.
