On the same day that the new trailer for Chris Pratt’s Terminal List spin-off debuted its new trailer, one older classic from the Guardians of the Galaxy star has returned to streaming charts. Pratt stars alongside James McAvoy (X-Men: First Class) and Angelina Jolie (Mr. & Mrs. Smith) in Wanted, the 2008 action/superhero movie following a frustrated office worker who discovers he’s the son of a professional assassin, and that he has his father’s same superhuman abilities.Wanted is currently streaming on Netflix in America, where it’s become one of the top 10 most popular movies for the streamer, sitting at #9 at the time of writing. The film earned a 71% from audiences and a 69% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and it even grossed $342 million globally against a $75 million budget.

Chris Pratt's hit action thriller series The Terminal List's upcoming spinoff prequel, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, gets a new trailer from Prime Video. The original series starred Pratt and followed the story of a Navy Seal seeking to avenge the murder of his family after uncovering a web of corruption.

Taylor Kitsch's Ben Edwards also played a prominent role in the series, and, after The Terminal List season 2 renewal, it was announced that a prequel spinoff series focused on the character of Edwards would be developed. The spinoff, Dark Wolf, is set to premiere on August 27, and there's now a snapshot of what viewers can expect from the show.

UK streaming lovers could not get enough of the minions last year.

According to Ofcom’s Media Nations report, the most-watched movie or TV episode on streaming in 2024 was Minions: The Rise of Gru on Netflix, a 2022 film that isn’t a Netflix original.

That one got 13.7 million views when total cumulative average viewing across the whole year is taken into account, according to Barb data supplied to Ofcom for the annual Media Nations. Universal’s Minions: The Rise of Gru was the fifth overall entry in the smash-hit franchise and was picked up by Netflix in 2023.

The only Disney+ project to make the top 10 was family movie Moana Sing Along, which came out nearly a decade ago and landed 11.5 million views last year on the platform.

Universal’s Jurassic World Rebirth continued its impressive run at the box office this past weekend. In its fourth weekend so far, the Gareth Edwards-helmed seventh installment in the franchise earned a strong $13.2 million domestically, finishing third in the overall rankings behind James Gunn's Superman in second, and the inevitable debut dominance of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, led by Pedro Pascal.

Thanks to this sound fourth weekend, Jurassic World Rebirth has now earned an eye-watering $719 million worldwide, split between a domestic total of $301 million and a further $418 million from overseas markets. Already, the film is the fourth highest-grossing of the year, behind Jared Hess' A Minecraft Movie, Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch, and China's near-$2 billion hit Ne Zha 2. Having risen through many ranks, such as sitting inside the 140 highest-grossing movies of all time, Rebirth has now entered a hugely impressive top 20, namely the 20 highest-earning Universal movies of all time globally.

Video game adaptations have been on the rise in the past few years. On television, this has taken the form of hit shows such as The Last of Us and Fallout. Both titles have been huge hits upon their releases and have received Emmy nominations for their performances and technical elements.

On the movie side, video game adaptations have been some of the highest-grossing films of the last few years. This notably includes The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which made $1.3 billion upon its release. This year, A MinecraftMovie was also a huge success, making over $955 million.

While both Super Mario Bros. Movie and A Minecraft Movie were aimed primarily at children, this is not the case for all video game adaptations. Amazon Prime Video announced its fifth big-budget video game TV series, adapting yet another tentpole title from the gaming world. Over the last couple of years, video game adaptations have become a hot commodity in Hollywood, with the likes of The Last of Us, Arcane, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie all proving successful on the big and small screen. 

Amazon Studios has been a trailblazer in the genre, greenlighting streaming takes on iconic video gaming IP like Fallout and Mass Effect, and seeing massive success. Fallout Season 1, which premiered on Prime Video in April 2024, was one of the best-reviewed series of the year on the platform, earning several Emmy nominations and quickly cementing the Amazon-owned streamer as the place to be for tentpole gaming adaptations. 

And it does not look like Amazon Prime Video is slowing down, as it has announced yet another video game TV series for fans to look forward to.

While at San Diego Comic-Con, Coyote vs. Acme will feature one iconic Looney Tunes character after showing up in a clip. The Looney Tunes movie was originally announced in 2018. It even completed filming before it was revealed that Warner Bros. would be shelving the movie.

It was just this year that the infamous film was saved by a noble distributor, Ketchup Entertainment. Ketchup had previously distributed another Looney Tunes movie called The Day the Earth Blew Up. Now saved, the Coyote vs. Acme movie will be shown to audiences next year.

At an Sdcc panel that ScreenRant attended, it was confirmed that Bugs Bunny will appear in Coyote vs Acme. Bugs' appearance was revealed via footage from the movie, in which Will Forte's character Kevin interacts with multiple Looney Tunes characters. In this clip, Wiles has hired Kevin. It was his first day in court in decades since he is used to settling cases.

Per FlixPatrol, The Super Mario Bros. Movie has made some major moves up the streaming charts for Amazon Prime Video in recent days. As of the time of writing, The Super Mario Bros. Movie has risen four places to reach the number five spot on the list of the top ten streaming movies on the platform, overtaking Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and How to Train Your Dragon 2 along the way. Live-action hits continue to dominate the list, however, with Heads of State, Uncharted, and The Accountant 2 standing in the first, second, and third place positions, respectively.

Exclusive: Two years after the record-setting release of Barbie, the feminist live-action take on Mattel’s iconic doll that became a cultural phenomenon, Illumination and Mattel Studios have finalized a deal to develop a new Barbie movie that will be the first in animation for theaters, sources tell Deadline.
