Nighshift starts off slow and ordinary until a quarter into the movie. The pace picks up when strange events propels Amy to believe that what is happening is a matter of life and death. I am glad I continued on with the movie as the beginning was painful, but then the movie redeems itself to a nice twist in the end. Movie is not for everybody, but if you like dark slow, atmospheric movies, think triangle, then this is for you.
There is something special here with this film. It's an entertaining slow burner that keeps you guessing. As far as low budget horrors goes this is a hidden gem.
I saw somewhere that this was made for 10k???
Very impressive movie, great cast, great direction and satisfying ending
This is a real and honest review.
A plot similar to this was done a few years ago in America but not in a hotel. It was some sort of factory or building with security guards.
Then yet ANOTHER was filmed -- also in America -- featuring a police precinct that was about to close down and one cop had to watch it over night.
Both movies were VERY similar to this.
So the basic plot was rather familiar to me.
Like the other two movies, the action unfolds very slowly. That doesn't make it a bad movie. It's just not the normal slasher flick.
The main female character is supposed to be American but she both looks and periodically sounds Irish.
What id I like about this movie? I actually liked the slow exposition. It made it feel like a real story. I also like the fact that there was no contrived horror music in the back ground. So sick of that.
I'll admit the movie get a little goofy just after teh mid point, but by then I was too invested to not want to see how it turned out.
It definitely has a bit of a dumb ending however

So many crap movies get a huge budget and people like this writer and director get no budget but have talent.
Sure the plot has been done before but what plot hasn't and its fairly obvious who the killer is but the movie, rather smartly, keeps the why to itself.
The acting is good, the script is fine and for the obviously limited budget this stands out.
The idea is well executed and the twists, while definitely guessable are more down to how many movies of this type that you've seen.
The notion that there's more at work than the killer killing because he's a psycho is briefly mentioned, as is the leads fear of the dark and a few other unexplored bits and bobs make this a sort of missed opportunity.
People claiming its too complicated or hard to follow are either too busy on their phones or some special kind of daft. It's not hard to follow at all.
This shows great promise and someone give this guy a bigger budget. He deserves it.

I liked this because it's a bit different to current horror movies.
Ok the acting isn't Oscar worthy but the cast hold it together pretty well.
The story moves along in a nice creepy way with enough twists and turns in the plot to keep you guessing.
If you like atmospheric horror this is worth a watch.
