Is Atlee And Allu Arjun’s Joint Project Shelved Because Of Creative Differences? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Sources say that creative differences is what has killed Atlee And Allu Arjun’s Joint Project project. Allu Arjun is said to have been proposed by director Atlee for a two-hero film, which would involve pairing Allu with a big star in the North, resulting in a pan-India spectacle. But Allu Arjun, who has tasted blockbuster success with solo hero ventures, wasn’t interested in sharing screen space with any other actor. It is this major creative disagreement in the movie that led to their decision to go separate ways.
Since Allu Arjun has withdrawn himself from Atlee’s project, the director is now looking for other actors to go ahead with his twin hero narrative. Some industry insiders indicated that he is talking to several top-flight actors regarding the lead roles that will...

The WGA East’s second Showrunner Academy gets underway today, with the 31-member class taking part in a program designed to support television writer-producers, upper-level writers and new show creators in honing the skills necessary to become successful showrunners and TV industry leaders.
The Academy, which provides instruction from current showrunners and other industry professionals on a wide range of topics, is led by Diana Son and Frank Pugliese.
“Being a showrunner is so much more than being the creative voice of the show,” Son said in a statement. “It’s also managing a multimillion-dollar endeavor with over 100 employees. We’re bringing in accomplished and experienced showrunners who’re willing to share the breadth of their experience – the good, bad and the ugly – so new showrunners can have a head start on figuring out what kind of showrunner they’re going to be.

Netflix led the way in the latest round of tax credits granted to productions by the state’s film office.
The streamer was awarded 37.1 million in incentives to shoot in California, besting MGM (19.6 million) and Warner Bros. Pictures (12.6 million), the California Film Commission said Monday. HBO led the way in the previous allotment of credits and Netflix twice before that.
Netflix was given credits for two features, Rebel Moon: Part 2 and an untitled film. The first installment of the Zack Snyder project was also awarded tax credits last year to shoot in California. The sci-fi adventure follows a young woman, played by Sofia Boutella, in a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy forced to seek out help from neighboring planets to ward off an invading tyrant.
Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie à Deux headlines the four studio films given incentives — though it was granted the least.

A state trooper who was part of Andrew Cuomo’s security detail sued the ex-New York governor in a sexual harassment claim, but the lawsuit quickly was revised Friday to include Cuomo’s spokesman as a defendant.
The state trooper’s lawsuit (read it here) claims that Cuomo “used his physical proximity to Trooper 1 to touch her inappropriately,” among other accusations. The trooper, unidentified in the lawsuit, was among the 11 women who accused Cuomo of sexual misconduct in Attorney General Letitia James’ investigation, the results of which ultimately led to his resignation last year.
Cuomo has not been charged with criminal wrongdoing, but there had been the expectation that he would face civil litigation.
After the state trooper filed her lawsuit, represented by the law firm Wigdor Llp, Cuomo’s spokesman, Richard Azzopardi, issued a strongly worded statement on Twitter, noting that authorities found “no violations of law” and saying...

As one of the most beloved and successful sitcoms of all time, Frasier is well-known for the strength of its core cast of leads. The series doesn't have a single bad main character, which is rare for sitcoms with much larger casts. But the compact size of Frasier's main cast makes for a perfectly balanced comedy group.

The stream of fall rollouts continues, although at a bit slower pace on the specialty box office front compared with recent weekends. Among them however is the Coen brothers’ anticipated The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, with Netflix beginning a very limited theatrical run today in New York at The Landmark 57 West, at The Landmark Los Angeles and the Embarcadero Center Cinema in San Francisco.
Buster Scruggs is one of three Netflix films — along with Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma and Susanne Bier’s Bird Box — to get a rare pre-streaming theatrical release as the company looks to to boost awareness for its awards-season fare. This film is also screening this weekend at AFI Fest and will be available via the service next week.
As per Netflix, the company doesn’t plan to release box office figures for its films.

You know that couple who met in a bar and discovered they both loved [Werner Herzog/Father John Misty/trips to Cabo/the color blue] so they began dating, and even after they realized they had nothing else in common it was easier to stay together than break up?
We’ve all been around them. But do you want to watch their movie? Maybe, if you’ve also been them, or are willing to admit you’re still in a relationship that fits the above description.
Everyone else, though, may find their patience running thin with Hallie (Emma Roberts) and Owen (Michael Angarano), the two young, bland Los Angelenos at the center of Sam Boyd’s romantic indie “In a Relationship.”

The idea that a relationship is beginning to feel a bit old and tired is the type of fodder that has been used by films for decades. But in the new film “In a Relationship,” the trope is then juxtaposed with a new relationship that feels fresh and exciting, as the two stages of being romantically linked are explored by two separate couples.
In honor of the new film hitting theaters and On Demand this week, we are proud to present an exclusive clip from the upcoming romantic dramedy that premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival.

"I'm not ready to settle down." Vertical Entertainment has released the first trailer for an indie drama titled In a Relationship, the feature directorial debut of filmmaker and NYU graduate Sam Boyd. Long-term couple Owen & Hallie are breaking up (or maybe not?). Just as their relationship reaches a turning point, Matt & Willa embark on a romance of their own. The film stars Emma Roberts & Michael Angarano as the leads, with Patrick Gibson & Dree Hemingway as the new couple. "Boyd's multi-character romantic dramedy adroitly juxtaposes two relationships at the opposite stages of their lifespan as the foursome haphazardly traverses the uncharted territory of 20-something millennial love over the course of a summer in Los Angeles." Also starring Jay Ellis, Greta Lee, Janet Montgomery, & Andre Hyland. See below. Here's the first official trailer for Sam Boyd's In a Relationship, direct from YouTube: Owen & Hallie (Michael Angarano & Emma Roberts) spent the first half of their twenties together,...

A neat-and-tidy romantic comedy dedicated to capturing the messy reality of modern dating, Sam Boyd’s Los Angeles-set “In a Relationship” suggests what “La La Land” might have been if you took away the retro-chic musical numbers and sparkly, soda-fizz chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, leaving only commitment-phobic white people looking for connection in a city where there’s always something better around the corner. Though unlikely to land more than a day-and-date VOD release, the movie is much funnier than the vast majority of indie comedies, serving as a great audition piece for a career of sitcom directing.
By focusing on two couples — one testing out a break after several years together, the other hooking up for the first time — Boyd presents an amusing before-and-after view of millennial mating rituals, such as they are. That was also the conceit of his 2015 short film of the same name...

You’ve probably seen “In a Relationship” before — hell, if you’re over 25, you’ve probably lived it. But what Sam Boyd’s tender and winning debut feature lacks in originality and ambition, it makes up for in honesty and charm.
Yet another of those movies about beautiful millennials having sex with each other while trying to sort out How We Love Now, Boyd’s film retreads familiar territory that people like Drake Doremus and the Duplass brothers might seem to have already farmed dry. A white boy with bad hair. A button-nosed girl with bad taste. A lot of navel-gazing commentary about hook-up culture, the rules of the game, and how they’ve changed for a generation in which constant connection hasn’t brought everybody closer. Some funny references. Too many synths. Even the best of these stories — even the ones that might reflect your own experience a tiny...
