Good Luck Charlie: Shane Harper Cheating on Bridgit Mendler With Her Friend Both in Real Life and On Screen Has to be the Darkest Coincidence in Hollywood
Image
Before she retired from acting to build the company Space, Bridgit Mendler played Teddy Duncan on the Disney Channel series Good Luck Charlie. During her time on the series, Mendler fell for her co-star Shane Harper, who played Spencer Walsh. In the series, Mendler’s Teddy and Harper’s Spencer are dating from the first season, despite Spencer’s huge red flags.

Both the reel and real-life partnerships ended badly for the two. Coincidentally, there was a darker story behind how Mendler and Harper’s story ended, just like in the series. Mendler went on to tie the knot with Griffin Cleverly, who also became her business partner.

‘Reagan’ Review: President or Saint? This Biopic of the Gipper Can’t Tell the Difference
Image
Sean McNamara’s biopic Reagan moves well beyond hero worship, as it paints the 40th U.S. president as a saint among men. The film opens with Ronald Reagan (Dennis Quaid) quoting his mother via voiceover—“Everything, even seemingly random twists of fate, is all a part of the divine plan”—just as it cuts to a vision of John Hinckley Jr.’s 1981 attempted assassination of the president. The mix of slow-mo re-enactment and archival footage is the first of many bizarre, unintentionally funny moments in a film that’s determined not only to position Reagan as the great man of the second half of the 20th century, but as a man ordained by God to defeat the colossal, religion- and freedom-hating villain of our times: communism.

In an especially strange decision, the story of Reagan’s life is told from the perspective of a fictionalized Kgb agent, Victor Novikov...

‘Tenet’ Braces For Week 3 After Disappointing Second Weekend; ‘Infidel’ Opens Wide
John David Washington in Tenet (2020)
Tenet’s lukewarm second weekend is a sign that the domestic box office still has a long way to go before things get back to normal, especially as New York and Los Angeles theaters remain shuttered.

In the wake of Tenet’s second weekend box office performance, release dates have been shuffled yet again. Warner Bros’ push of Wonder Woman 1984 from October 2 to Christmas gives Tenet a longer competition-free run. Candyman left its October 16 release date and is now expected to be released in 2021. STX Entertainment’s Greenland, which stars Gerard Butler and made $11.5 million internationally, was pushed from its September 25 release to an undecided date later this year. The one move up in the release schedule came from Universal, moving The Croods: A New Age from December 23 to November 25.

This week’s only wide release is the Jim Caviezel starrer Infidel, which opens on 1,724 screens. It is the first release from Cloudburst Entertainment,...

Coming in on par with Mojo's pre-weekend forecast, Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One topped the weekend box office and delivered the director's largest opening weekend in ten years. The weekend also saw a strong second place debut for Lionsgate's Acrimony, the latest film from Tyler Perry, while Black Panther and I Can Only Imagine remain in the top five with their continued impressive runs.

Not so impressive was the debut for Pure Flix's God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness, which finished outside the top ten and short of expectations.

At the top of the box office is Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One, delivering an estimated $53.2 million four-day after debuting on Thursday, and $41.2 million for the standard three-day weekend for the fifth largest Easter opening ever. The film is the largest opening weekend for Spielberg since the $100 million debut for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the...

Ready Player One Opening Box Office Points Towards Big Easter Weekend
Warner Bros. rolled out the highly-anticipated Steven Spielberg adaptation Ready Player One in over 3,500 theaters for sneak peek screenings last night, where it fared quite well, earning roughly $3.8 million. With these numbers in hand, it pushes the four-day projections from Thursday through Sunday from $45 million to between $52 and $55 million for this adaptation of Ernest Cline's nostalgia-heavy novel. While it will have two new competitors in theaters tomorrow, with Lionsgate's Tyler Perry's Acrimony and PureFlix's God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness, it is still expected to dominate the box office throughout the Easter holiday weekend. Combined with the Wednesday night sneak peeks, the first day total estimate for Thursday is expected to be between $10 million and $12.5 million. Here's what analytical firm RelishMix had to say about the movie.

"Fans of the novel by Ernest Cline, Spielberg movies and classic video games are 'all in' and ready to dive in the deep end.

'God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness': Film Review
Considering that the whole point of religion is faith, Christian audiences seem to need a whole lot of reassuring. The third entry in the successful God's Not Dead series yet again makes the argument that God is, you know, not dead. It's beginning to feel as repetitive as Chevy Chase's declarations during the first season of Saturday Night Live that "Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead." But while God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness proves less fiery in its preaching than its predecessors, it's also a significantly duller offering. How could it not be, considering that its main plot...

'Pacific Rim 2' Tops Weekend as 'Black Panther' Becomes Fifth Largest Domestic Release of All-Time
Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Martin Freeman, Michael B. Jordan, Andy Serkis, Chadwick Boseman, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong'o, Daniel Kaluuya, and Letitia Wright in Black Panther (2018)
It had to happen at some point and this was the weekend that saw Black Panther's streak as the #1 film at the weekend box office come to an end at the hands of Pacific Rim Uprising. That being said, it wasn't a down weekend for Black Panther at all as it became the highest grossing superhero film of all-time, topping The Avengers with a domestic cume that now totals $630.9 million, becoming one of the top five domestic releases of all-time. This weekend also saw another stellar performance for Roadside and Lionsgate's I Can Only Imagine, which finished in third place, topping Paramount and MGM's Sherlock Gnomes, which struggled over the course of its opening weekend, falling short of pre-weekend expectations. At the top, Universal and Legendary's Pacific Rim Uprising delivered an estimated $28 million three-day opening from 3,708 locations. While not a stellar opening for a film of this size,...

Bad Samaritan Trailer: David Tennant Is the Wrong Man to Mess With
Electric Entertainment has released the first trailer and poster for their upcoming thriller Bad Samaritan, arriving in theaters March 30. This thriller marks the second feature directorial effort for Dean Devlin, who made his directorial debut last year with the big-budget action-thriller Geostorm. Bad Samaritan is quite scaled back in terms of scope, compared to Geostorm, but this intriguing thriller has a unique enough premise that it could make some waves in a crowded spring movie season.

The story centers on a valet named Sean (Robert Sheehan), who, along with his partner Derek (Carlito Olivero), develops a clever scam to burglarize the houses of rich customers. Things go smoothly until he robs the wrong customer (David Tennant), and discovers &#8239a woman being held captive in his home. &#8239 Afraid of going to prison, he leaves the woman there and makes a call to the police, who find nothing when they investigate.
