One of the few movies of recent times to make me cry

I love Bollywood because it evokes emotions in me despite being a foreigner. Almost all mainstream movies that were released after covid lack soul, exception being 12th Fail, Laapata Ladies etc... This movie made me cry, I cared about the characters which rarely happens with recent Hindi movies. The child actor was brilliant, Abhishek was great and the rest of the cast were good as well. Even Though Norah's accent was visible even to me who barely speak Hindi, learning from watching too many Bollywood movies. The story had its flaws, but after watching so many senseless Bollywood movies these past few years like Pathaan or Fighter or Loveyappa (lol don't judge, wanted to see how Amir Khan ka bheta would do in movies and don't let me begin with Nadaniyaan) it was closest to the Bollywood my millennial ass could relate to. Overall I wanted to pass time and watch something with my dinner and being an Abhishek fan I decided on this and I didn't regret it.

Not that impactful

This happens when a person from dance field makes a movie, she/he would have cool ideas about the songs but no solid glue to compile those songs / song situation into one good story. Last ~15 minutes are truly beautiful and heartwarming, but rest of the movie feels dull. It lacks emotional appeal. For such movies to work, it requires a little bit of melodrama. But this movie runs pretty flat. Performances from main leads of three generations are very good, but story and director is not energetic, appealing and it lacks novelty. Inayat Verma's character is well developed, but despite having potential, Abhishek didn't get enought chance to show his talent in father's role. Most of his screen time is consumed in playing the cliches of lonely gloomy widower. Even a one scene would do the job, in which he cries alone for his daughter's pain and talks with his dead wife. This scene too is a cliche, but it still will be more emotional than a gloomy flat face. In somewhat similar space, "the sky is pink" was much more impactful and moving story.

Remo D'Souza's Obsession with Making ABCD 4 After Street Dancer 3D's Flop Run

Be Happy (2025) : Movie Review -

Be Happy is a film that pretends to be about "happiness," but is actually Remo sir's substitute for ABCD 4, which was never made after the flop run of Street Dancer 3D. The worst aspect of the film is that a 9-year-old girl acts better than Nora Fatehi and Nassar sir, and interestingly, that's also the best part of the film.

Be Happy follows a little girl, Dhara (Inaayat Verma), who wants to pursue a career in dancing, but her banker father, Shiv (Abhishek Bachchan), wants her to keep dance as a hobby and focus on her studies for a better career. Maggie (Nora Fatehi) runs a dancing academy and is impressed by Dhara's amazing dancing skills. After a few hiccups, she manages to take Dhara under her wing and eventually helps her get selected for a dancing reality show. Just when everything seems to be going well for Dhara and her father, fate plays a dark game and puts a halt to their hopes. Will they be able to fight it?

Similar to ABCD 2 and Street Dancer 3D, Remo's artificial setup of dance sequences ruins the organic feel in this film. It's better to watch any reality show's extended preview episode before the grand finale than to watch this movie. However, it does evoke emotion by the end, even though the climax is highly superficial. The father-daughter duo delivers a whole performance without rehearsals. Ab bolo? Be Happy isn't clever in such situations, and there are many like this. The character of Johnny Lever was entirely out of place, and the angle of Maggie and Shiv as a soon-to-be couple felt soulless. The kids behaved beyond their ages, while the adults acted like children. There's much more to take a dig at, but the film ultimately gets the "spotlight" at the end, making us go ahead with the full use of a pair of tissues.

Performance-wise, Inaayat Verma, despite being a child artist, emerged as the best actor among the entire cast. As I mentioned, she acts beyond her age despite a moderate IQ level in academics (49.8% or something), as if she were a completely mature and intelligent child. Abhishek Bachchan was good, and Nassar was watchable-conditions apply. Nora Fatehi looks sexy in her dance attire, and her moves are killer, but her acting skills will kill you. The time has come for her to focus on expressions and dialogue delivery because it becomes predictably irritating to listen to her foreign accent when she delivers Hindi dialogues. Hopefully, she'll improve in the future, or better yet, she should continue dancing because she is indeed a fantastic dancer. There is a large supporting cast that hasn't done anything worth mentioning here, so I'll skip it.

Thematic similarities were expected, but D'Souza's setup and storytelling have not really progressed over the years. The technical aspects hardly make any difference, and the music adds extra boredom. Either "Be Happy" didn't truly understand its own message, or it failed to explore it well on screen. The idea of happiness sounded better at the start, but by the time it reached its finale, it became tedious and quite illogical. Remo D'Souza's vision for dance movies needs improvement, but I don't think it will make any difference-it hasn't in Hollywood, so Bollywood is far behind. "Be Happy" still has those "be sad" moments that will make you cry, but the rest of the show, much like Dhara's age, is CHILDISH.

Acting

Abhishek is good overall.

Nora do not know acting, she can dance. I guess Remo the director must had some financial crises.

Sanchit was so good he should be the lead actor instead of Inayat Verma.

Inayat Verma - Brilliant actor, but worst when it comes to dancing. Even a non dancer can make out easily in whole film she didn't danced well. Camera even didn't focus on her move.

Suggestion for Remo is We have huge industry of dancers and actors both. A little hardwork can find a brilliant all rounder who can dance and act both at the same time. So do not disappoint the audience who love to see the dancing movies. Thanks.

A parents Must See movie !

As a parent you'll find it hard to look at your child without admiring that silly behavior or constant charm. Our children are - after all - a driving purpose & remo D'Souzas"be happy" has no limit to those little reminders of why. Starring abhishek bachan , nora fatehi and inayat verma. This family oriented drama will have you smiling for hours and at the end it will make you cry.abhishek has done a well job..he is born to play characters of fathers...we can feel the pain of a father through his eyes..nora fatehi was surprisingly good..her dance is excellent as always but her acting was very nice.inayat portrays in her character is a child prodigy - something I'm sure we all see in our sons & daughters, regardless of where they stand. The plot-line here was surprisingly soft and presented host of lessons that highlighted the importance of a trusting dreams of your child; It's a title every father must see and every mother should feel encouraged by. Where there's love and happiness, there's life!

Every father-daughter bond deserves this film

Be Happy is a beautiful emotional rollercoaster that surprises you just when you think you have it all figured out. What starts off as a feel-good, lighthearted story gradually pulls you deeper, keeping you wondering"Where's the twist?" And then bam it hits you like a truck, leaving you completely absorbed in the unfolding drama.

The performances are truly commendable, with Abhishek and Inayat delivering top-notch acting that brings the emotional core of the film to life. Their chemistry and depth on screen make you feel every high and low of the narrative.

Given that the film revolves around dance, the choreography had a lot riding on it. While there were two major sequences that stood out brilliantly, it felt like the rest of the performances didn't receive the same level of attention or finesse. A bit more effort in choreographing the supporting dance pieces could have elevated the overall impact.

That said, Be Happy carries a deeper emotional message that lingers long after the credits roll. It's not just a story about dance or dreams it's a story about relationships, love, and emotional strength. Every father should watch this film with his daughter and try not to cry because chances are, he won't succeed.

All in all, Be Happy does a fantastic job of blending emotion, story, and performance leaving you with a film that's both heartwarming and thought-provoking.

Outstanding movie on father daughter relationship

This movie goes a long way in providing new perspective on father daughter relationship in today's age, where family don't have time to talk to each other forget discussing dreams. Parents plan something for their children and children never have clarity on what they want except mobile. They dream today's world through mobile, not based on reality or inner calling. This movie takes us back to an era of giving importance to family before anything. Acting is good, and dialogue are excellent and to the point. It's good family movie and has message of entire family. Sometimes it is a bit emotional but that is something about originality and purity of father daughter relationship.

Superb Emotional Movie with Lots of positives

"BE HAPPY" movie is really really a must watch movie. We see heroes moving around heroines and jumping here and there in normal cinama. This is the movie where you actually see and feel real class acting. Abhishek Bachchan is a proven ACTOR now. He has shown his class as an actor. Little Inayat was superb in her role and acted fearlessly. All supporting casts were also too good. Such movies must get due recognition as its beyond a movie theme and punches some social message. Father-Daughter bonding is worth to watch in natural acting. AB has once again proved that he is too good an actor and justifies his presence in Indian cinema. Just see the movie this week end and feel the emotions.

A must watch family movie 🍿 heartwarming and a family film that brings generations together

Be Happy isn't just a film-it's a quiet whisper to the soul in a world full of noise. Directed with a tender touch by Remo D'Souza , this Hindi drama doesn't rely on grand twists or heavy melodrama. Instead, it wins hearts through simplicity, sincerity, and a universal message: happiness is often a choice, not a destination.

At the center of the story is Abhishek Bachchan, delivering one of his most restrained and heartfelt performances to date. He plays a man surrounded by everyday struggles-single parent pressure, emotional burdens, and a society obsessed with success. Yet, rather than succumbing to bitterness, he chooses joy.

Be Happy, Inayat Verma plays an emotionally impactful role that adds warmth and innocence to the film's narrative. Known for her natural charm and screen presence, Inayat portrays a spirited young girl who forms a sweet bond with Abhishek Bachchan's character.

Her character becomes a symbol of unfiltered joy and hope-living proof that happiness can be found even in the simplest of things. Whether it's her curious questions, spontaneous laughter, or her moments of quiet wisdom beyond her years, Inayat lights up the screen every time she appears.

What sets Be Happy apart is its tone. It never preaches, yet it teaches. The storytelling flows like a warm cup of chai on a rainy day-comforting, familiar, and reflective. Nora Fatehi brings depth to her role, while Harleen sethi lights up the screen with her natural charm. Every character feels like someone you know-a neighbor, a friend, a version of yourself.

The cinematography is subtle, with soft lighting and grounded visuals that enhance the film's realistic appeal. Harsh Upadhyay music doesn't overpower; it walks beside the narrative, humming its emotions gently.

Yes, the plot may not shock or surprise, but that's the beauty of it. Be Happy isn't about what happens next-it's about how we respond to what's already happening around us. In an era where films often chase extremes, this one dares to stay still and smile.

Be Happy is not just a film-it's an experience. One that nudges you to slow down, breathe, and perhaps, share a smile with a stranger. A rare gem in the noise of modern cinema.

Be Happy is a heartwarming family film that brings generations together. It's the kind of movie you can sit down and enjoy with your parents, kids, or grandparents-all in one room. With its clean humor, emotional depth, and uplifting message, it offers something meaningful for everyone.

It's not just a movie; it's a gentle reminder of the joy in togetherness. Perfect for a cozy weekend watch.

A must watch. Deserves 10/10 imdb rating. No hate!

Inayat, at such a small age your acting, dancing everything is just magical . Just pure love. Nora and others did a good job too . Full of emotional moments but shows a lot of courage from a very small child.

The father daughter bond felt so real. The dance moves by both Inayat, abhishek and ofcourse Nora.. amazing. Pretty sure Aradhya must be proud to see this movie.

The devi ayi dance from Abhishek is just wow! And Remo sir , you are the best!

Abhishek Bachchan at his best

Abhishek Bachchan has never been praised for his acting capabilities but I feel he deserves love and appreciation as he has the ability to dive deep into the character. I'm sure he is a real loving father and his love for his child is displayed in his character for movies like LUDO, I WANT TO TALK and this movie too.

This movie goes a long way in providing new perspective on father daughter relationship in today's age, where family don't have time to talk to each other forget discussing dreams. Parents plan something for their children and children never have clarity on what they want except mobile. They dream today's world through mobile, not based on reality or inner calling. It's good family movie and has message of entire family. Sometimes it is a bit emotional but that is something about originality and purity of father daughter relationship. Daughter's will always have a close bond with then father and the emotional turmoil they both good through is really hard to understand. Please watch this wonderful movie.

Nice Movie...

This was a refreshing change from the standard male bashing & anti-patriarchy thrash that Bollywood has been churning out for over a decade. This movie is funny and entertaining while showcasing the bond between a father and his daughter. In a sense, it captures the essence of a father's reluctance in letting go of the protective instinct for his daughter, for her benefit & growth. The turmoil that every father goes through while, accommodating the dreams of his daughter and learning to be supportive.

Emotive movies like these don't really carry any agenda or political messaging rather, work with the established social fabric & relationships while, delivering a feel good experience & entertainment. I was pleasantly surprised to see Bollywood shed it's usual disdain for men. Over the last decade, the movies and shows coming out have tried to normalise aberrant behaviors of women on screen while, painting men & patriarchy as villians. A movie which goes down to the basics and explores the subtle emotions between a father and daughter was unexpected & a welcome relief from the usual theme of projecting hate or be divisive towards either of the genders, under the pretext of asserting freedom. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie with its light hearted humour & emotional take on such a relationship. I'm hoping there will be more movies like these which show the good side of relationships rather than the usual hate filled propaganda we have been seeing which just show cases the dysfunction between people, genders & relationships.

Bollywood needs to understand that, it's not necessary to put in divisive, inflammatory & sensational content to make a good movie. A movie as simplistic as this one does a better job of drawing in the audience than, a expensive cast of people who do the most ridiculous & ugly stuff on screen.

Be Happy. Superb.... Fantastic

I recently watched Be Happy, and I must say, it was an emotionally enriching experience. The performances of all the actors were truly commendable, bringing life to the story in a way that deeply resonated with me.

There were several moments in the film that touched my heart, and I couldn't hold back my tears in a few scenes. The father-daughter bond portrayed in the movie felt so real and moving, making it impossible not to get emotionally involved.

Overall, Be Happy is a must-watch for anyone who enjoys heartfelt dramas. It is a film that stays with you long after it ends, reminding you of the power of love, dreams, and perseverance. Highly recommended!

Must watch

It starts slow...but delivers very well in the end.

Must watch for all parents, specially all daughters with their fathers.

AB, Inayat, Nasir and Nora perfect for the roles.

Weak script, Weak direction No proper songs...seems to be rushing with split ends.

Father daughter two performances loved it. Not much was expected from AB in dance form.

New generation kids are shown. Remo D Souza could have worked more behind this movie and made it better.

Just feel like everything just rushed to the end scenes. But end is very special.

Nora's dance moves just wow.

In some parts you feel like watching DID.

Be Happy': A Masterclass in Acting by Abhishek Bachchan

"Be Happy," starring Abhishek Bachchan and Inayat Verma, is a cinematic gem that resonates deeply with its portrayal of the powerful bond between a father and daughter. What struck me most was the sheer authenticity of their performances, drawing you into their world with a gentle yet compelling force.

Abhishek Bachchan delivers a masterclass in nuanced acting. He embodies the complexities of a father navigating life's challenges while fiercely protecting his daughter's happiness. His expressions, subtle yet profound, convey a depth of emotion that is truly captivating. There's a magical quality to his performance; he doesn't just play a father, he becomes one. Every glance, every gesture, every moment of vulnerability and strength feels utterly real. He effortlessly shifts between moments of playful affection and quiet determination, revealing the layers of a man dedicated to his child.

Inayat Verma shines brightly alongside him, matching his intensity with her own youthful charm and remarkable talent. Together, they create a believable and heartwarming dynamic that anchors the film. Their on-screen chemistry is palpable, making their shared journey all the more impactful.

The story itself is a beautiful testament to the enduring power of familial love. It's a narrative that explores the complexities of parenthood, the sacrifices made, and the unwavering belief in a child's potential. The film avoids melodrama, instead opting for a sincere and heartfelt approach that allows the characters' emotions to resonate organically.

"Be Happy" is more than just a movie; it's an emotional experience. It's a reminder of the strength found in love, the resilience of the human spirit, and the beauty of a father-daughter relationship. Abhishek Bachchan's performance, in particular, is a career highlight, solidifying his position as an actor of immense talent and emotional depth. If you're looking for a film that will touch your heart and leave you feeling inspired, "Be Happy" is an absolute must-watch.

Be happy

This is like a life story of every day. Be happy. You win or lose. Your income is more or less of your expectations. Always be happy with family and friends. Always break predetermined notions. Acting of girl child is exceptional. My children are also same. Abhishek also worked hard. My feelings are same protective father with less talking. Grand parents always support there grand children. Good stuff. Loved it. Dancing was immature. But acting was very good. So from my side I would like to watch it again. As it's free. I am from a low income group so I don't go to theatre. I watch all movies online only.
