Compared to other anime series with lots of fan service, Dragon Ball is a comparatively tame and conservative piece of shonen anime. However, one character in early Dragon Ball remains a most prominent source of criticism: Master Roshi. The Turtle Hermit is a beloved and popular character as one of the main members of Dragon Ball’s iconic cast, but he’s also one of anime’s most infamously problematic perverts. Roshi singlehandedly popularized the trope of lecherous old men in shonen anime, and arguably did it better than any character after him.
That said, there’s a valid reason this trope has gone out of favor in modern anime, which is exactly why Roshi has been featured far less prominently in modern Dragon Ball media than he once was. While there’s a lot more nuance to the story than that, the reality is that much of what Roshi...

Ben Duff and Dylan Mulligan are best friends and co-workers at a mini-golf course. They’re also the last two people anyone would ever expect to be heroes.
But when their mutual friend Dougie is kidnapped by a demonic cult led by the sinister Eugene, they have no choice but to step up. What starts as an attempt to rescue their friend quickly turns into something much bigger, as they find themselves facing supernatural forces and a growing threat to their town. That 70s Show was an American sitcom that surprisingly started airing in 1998. The show starred Wilmer Valderrama in the role of Fez alongside Ashton Kutcher and other notable stars.

Being a show about a set of teenage students going through adolescence while navigating life, the sitcom was well-received by the audience and became a cultural phenomenon. Well, Wilmer Valderrama became the proud owner of one iconic set piece following the show’s end.

And not just any car, but the iconic Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser that Eric and his group of friends often drove around. Being their main source of transportation, the cast spent hundreds of hours on those four wheels and the Vista Cruiser became an iconic piece of memorabilia.

Two previously released Bloody Disgusting titles have made their way to our Screambox streaming platform, one is a creepy found footage horror for those with a fear of clowns, and the other is an absolutely stunning A24-esque chiller reminiscent of The Witch.
Drawing comparisons to The Witch comes German gothic folk tale Hagazussa, which The Hollywood Reporter hailed as “a spellbinding audiovisual symphony” and earned a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes upon release.
Hagazussa, which has a stunning atmosphere mixed with brooding terror from start to finish, takes place in the Austrian Alps in the 15th century when people feared witches and ancient magic.
In the 15th Century in the remote Austrian Alps, the orphan Albrun (Celina Peter) grows up to be a simple goatherd living in solitude…and a marked woman. As a scapegoat of ancient myths and monstrous misogyny, Albrun (portrayed by Aleksandra Cwen as an adult) finds herself tormented by the local townsfolk,...

In early January, comedian Katt Williams went on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast and took aim at Cedric the Entertainer for stealing “my very best joke.” The bit in question — which involved a pantomime of driving with music blasting — was first performed by Katt in a 1998 appearance on ComicView, then reproduced by Cedric (according to Katt) for his set in Spike Lee’s The Original Kings of Comedy. Cedric called the accusations “revisionist history” on Instagram.
We’ve been down this road many times before. For much of the 20th century, joke stealing was an open secret. “All comedians steal from all comedians,” the legend Stan Laurel once mused. Some of the biggest names in comedy did it. Milton Berle was so blatant in his joke stealing that he earned the nickname “The Thief of Bad Gags.” Richard Pryor admitted on The Tonight Show that he ripped off his comedy idols,...

A trailer was released for Gags the Clown in late 2019. Before that, the film has had a World Premiere (Cinepocalypse). Now, this feature is set to show internationally through Digital platforms. Based on a strange clown phenomenon in 2015 and 2016, this title brings a sinister clown to city streets as this crowd-pleaser terrorizes a small Wisconsin town. This title was developed by director Adam Krause, with Lauren Ashley Carter (The Woman), Tracy Perez (Devil May Call), Aaron Christensen (Dead Weight) and Evan Gamble starring. A preview of the film's worldwide launch is here. In the trailer for Gags the Clown, reporters and police officers search for a mysterious figure. People are being attacked at night. And, this clown may have malicious intentions for a town incensed by a new, strange phenomenon. Jinga Films will bring the film to multiple countries this month and into November. With Christmas officially just right around the corner, we have one last big push for home media before the big day, just in case you have any last-minute shopping to do. This week’s horror and sci-fi releases make for a pretty great final batch of titles for 2019, too, with Scream Factory at the forefront. Not only have they put together a Collector’s Edition for Silver Bullet (which is probably my most anticipated release of theirs for the entire year), but they’ve also put together a new volume of Universal Horror films and are showing some love to Murders in the Rue Morgue and To The Devil… A Daughter as well.
Ad Astra is also hitting various formats this Tuesday, and if you missed it during its release in October, Patrick Lussier’s Trick comes home on both Blu-ray and DVD this week, too.

With the success of last year’s adaptation of Stephen King’s It, I think most of us knew we’d be seeing a new wave of clown-themed movies coming at us, since filmmaking is often about embracing trends. So, when I read that the indie horror film Gags would be venturing into some atypical territory by exploring that weird creepy clown phenomena happening around the country in recent years, I was more than intrigued. Unfortunately, Gags spends a little too much time worrying about other characters and not nearly enough time with its mysterious eponymous jokester, ultimately making Gags an underwhelming experience that never quite lives up to its potential.
Following the events of one night in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Gags introduces us to its twisted titular character as he stalks some folks on their way to their car in an otherwise empty parking garage. From there, we begin following various groups,...
