Put aside the small handful of indie films that blow up at one of the major film festivals like Sundance or Tribeca. What you have left is hundreds and thousands of low budget films made by people who probably have no place making movies. I don't know why I keep watching them. I guess maybe so I could stumble onto the occasional diamond in the rough. But let me tell you, most indie films are bad. Very bad.
This one is not. It's got a story that anyone with a dream should watch for a little inspiration and a little reality too. Like even the best of indie cinema, this one can be slightly rough around the edges at times, but honestly that sort of comes with the territory of low budget filmmaking. The movie works. The performances work. The narrative works. There you go. Color me surprised that I enjoyed an indie outside of the Sundance pool.

Are all the hateful failed or clueless artists that come out of the woodwork to tear them down because instead of accepting that they just don't know how to get films made (and should learn how to), or haven't had their lucky break yet, they choose to attack those who give a real go at it because bullying others is easier than doing work.
This movie is no masterpiece, but it's a solid drama. I was at a festival where this won Best Film. Even there I saw filmmakers angry because this movie won over there's. So what happened to the days when filmmakers would support each other and root for each other? It's a sad place where we are.
And I'll be honest, my movie lost out on an award to this one too. But you know what? I'm okay with that because Ultra Low is solid. It was well made, and probably better than my movie in more than one way. If only others could swallow their insecurities and respect the efforts of other aspiring artists.
I liked the score. The music was surprisingly of high quality for an indie production. Nice visuals and solid overall pacing helped too. Like I said, no masterpiece. So if you're looking for an interesting independent drama, here's one to see. Just do yourself a favor and ignore all the envious losers who have nothing better to do with their lives than to come onto forums to anonymously bash an artist who's really trying to do something.
Good work Nicholas and team. And good to meet you.
