This one was a big surprise on Netflix! The director has taken a different route and approach to the typical characters and takes you on a roller coaster thrill ride along with the main character who has acted flawlessly. Totally worth my time spent watching this one. Definitely recommend it!
Thanks to Netflix a new era of Indian cinema is beginning. Goodbye to all the stupid, song and dance, censorship and same old love stories. Finally filmmakers are getting a chance to show off their creativity and make good movies where people talk like they do in real life and movies are for entertainment not preaching.
Anyway Brij Mohan is one of these movies. Profanities are thrown left and right (having lived in Delhi I can totally relate to everyone sayin BC all the time).
Some parts of the movie were genuinely funny but the reason why this isn't an 8 or 9 movie is that the suspension of disbelief had to be too much. I was willing to go with everything shown in the movie but the ending ruined it for me. It was like a cop-out by the director storywriter and just too out there. Still it's a good one time watch.

Last thing you expect from Netflix is to produce typical Bollywood potboiler and unashamedly release it.
Talented star cast like Arjun Mathur have tried to salavage the the shabby script but the story is so sad and simple that no amount of charm, wit or talent could have salvaged the movie.
I wish they had added layers to the character or story and the movie was not so predictable and boring.
Had such a high expectation from Netflix and Arjun Mathur ! Just to be let down.

Reading between the lines is what director Nikhil Bhat wants us, as viewers, to do. That is the reason why small things like the registration plate of the lead character's car is the way it is. And of course, there is similar wordplay in the title of this film as well. A lot of thought has gone into this movie than what meets the eye, at least in the first viewing. One roots for the character despite being aware of his ill-meaning ways and intentions. Not many movies can make you do that. As a black comedy, this one comes as a breath of fresh air albeit in the form of dusty alleyways of Delhi which are uniquely captured in cinematographer Pooja Gupte's frames. Minus the dances, the film's quirky background score by Andrew Mckay and the choice of old Hindi songs adds wonderfully to the already eccentric scenes of the film.
All of us are left down and out at various points in our lives. How we deal with such situations is what defines us. And how he deals with them is what defines this fresh, quirky tale. He who? Amar or Brij? Go figure, you won't be disappointed.
