According to a new rumor, Marvel Studios has a character in mind to replace the McU's Baby Groot. After first appearing at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy, Baby Groot became an instant fan favorite, starring in multiple projects under James Gunn and Kirsten Lepore. With Groot's future unknown, Marvel seems to have found the next character to take on a similar role.

Jeff the Land Shark is unquestionably one of Marvel’s strangest characters to date. The amicable fish with legs has become a cult favorite among fans, to the point where he has even been given several of his own titles from Marvel. He was originally created by the villainous scientist known as M.O.D.O.K., before being rescued and joining the West Coast Avengers in addition to helping heroes such as Deadpool and Gweenpool. And he also showed up in Marvel Rivals, where he proved to be hugely popular among players.
In his latest limited series, which is titled Jeff the Land Shark, Jeff attempts to take down a malicious demonic being who was accidentally brought into existence in Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum, who subsequently impersonates the real Jeff and frames him for committing crimes across the Multiverse. The comic book companies Marvel and DC have had multiple crossovers over the decades, going back to Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man and Batman & The Incredible Hulk back in the 1970s. Among the notable moments: the Uncanny X-Men have met the New Teen Titans, the Justice League of America has met the Avengers, Darkseid has battled Galactus, we’ve had the DC Versus Marvel event that created the Amalgam Universe, Batman has met the likes of The Punisher, Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Captain America, and Superman has met the Silver Surfer, the Incredible Hulk, and the Fantastic Four. Now, we’re set to get another crossover with the comic book Deadpool/Batman, which reaches store shelves on September 17th… and the title meet-up isn’t the only crossover this comic book is going to feature! Marvel has revealed that we’ll also see Captain America and Wonder Woman, Jeff the Land Shark and Krypto,...

From the depths of HeyUGuys a beast reappears – this is an updated version of Cai’s retrospective article from 2015. It all still applies. Jaws still swims alone the in blockbuster pantheon pool.
We are now hip-deep into the Summer Movie Season of 2025. The steady queue of $200m high-concept megamovies lining up to bust blocks between May and the end of August seems to have been a Hollywood tradition since time immemorial. In fact, the entire concept of the Summer Movie Season is only fifty years old.

Marvel Rivals is bringing an event called Venom’s Bubble Pop on June 19th, featuring a new event pass that offers players exciting new cosmetic rewards. Like all other battle passes, this one also has a free track and a premium track that players can purchase for 490 Lattice and keep forever.
However, there’s one specific emote in the pass that has caught the attention of players even more than Johnny Storm’s free Future Foundation Outfit and the glorious pink Venom skin.
Not only has Jeff stolen the show once again, but his new emote is pure brainrot, or at least inspired by it, and it has taken over the community quicker than Ultron taking over the Hellfire Gala.

After nerfing our adorable little Jeff to the ground, Marvel Rivals might have secretly improved him, at least from the looks of it. During the initial days of Marvel Rivals, Jeff was one of the most broken characters, which caused the developers to nerf him. However, that is not enough to stop Jeff from remaining the best.
With the recent Marvel Rivals 2.5 patch, win rates with Jeff the Land Shark have seemingly increased. It even puts Invisible Woman to shame, who is considered one of the best Strategists. But we all know who is really the best. No, not Loki! It’s our charming good boy.

We all thought Aang was the last Avatar alive, but it looks like we’ve miscalculated, because we have got another one brewing a storm, literally. X-Men’s very own weather goddess, Storm, is bending more than just clouds in Marvel Rivals Season 2.5.
Thanks to some seriously cool team-up abilities, she has already mastered the ways of water, fire, and air like she’s been secretly hanging out with the White Lotus. All she’s missing now is a bit of earth, and then she’s fully prepped to steal the Avatar title, and maybe Aang’s glider too, while she’s at it.
Three elements, one queen: Storm’s elemental arsenal in Marvel Rivals is no joke

The beloved adorable character is one of the playable characters in the live-service multiplayer game, where fans can assume the roles of their favorite Marvel characters in massive online brawls.

Marvel Rivals is about to welcome its most attitude-heavy Strategist yet. Forget gentle encouragement and supportive callouts—Ultron’s version of bedside manner will probably involve questioning your tactical decisions while reluctantly keeping you alive.
The mechanical menace drops into Season 2.5 on May 30th, armed with enough sarcasm to power a small arc reactor. This isn’t your typical backline babysitter who panics when teammates take damage. Ultron operates on a different philosophy entirely: if you’re constantly getting hurt, maybe the problem isn’t his healing output but your positioning choices.
The anti-healbot strategist we didn’t know we needed
Ultron’s approach to battlefield medicine in Marvel Rivals is beautifully simple: dead enemies can’t hurt your teammates. His kit revolves around dealing damage while providing support, making him the first Strategist since Mantis who doesn’t apologize for having an offensive bone in his metallic body.

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 is set to go live on May 30, and you’d better get ready for one of the biggest updates we’ve seen. Not only are we getting a new Strategist character in Ultron, but there are several balance changes and new options in the Team-Up system.
The mid-season update is going to six new Team-Ups and removing four existing ones. Your favorite characters might have new best friends very soon. So let’s take a look at all the new Team-Ups and ones that are leaving.
All Six New Team-Ups in Marvel Rivals Season 2.5
1. Symbiote Shenanigans – Jeff the Land Shark & Venom
This Strategist-Vanguard combo gives Jeff the Land Shark a healing upgrade. With the help of Venom’s symbiote, Jeff can link to nearby allies with tendrils and give them a sort of AoE heal. Venom is the anchor in this pairing, and he gets a 150 health increase.

Marvel Rivals has seen a steady stream of gameplay and cosmetic updates since its release in December 2024, but now, it seems like some fans think one character is getting more attention than all the others, at least when it comes to the number of skins being added. Marvel Rivals is a completely free-to-play hero shooter, with all gameplay elements, like maps, modes, and characters, being added for free. Most of the game's cosmetics are an additional purchase, and after the announcement of another pair of skins coming soon, fans are questioning the fairness of the game's skin economy.
In a Reddit post by BoltexGaming, there is quite a bit of debate about whether Scarlet Witch has too many skins, compared to the rest of the game's roster. Adam Warlock and Scarlet Witch will be getting new "Immortal" skins on May 23. The skins are a part of the game's "Immortal Dragon" collection,...

A Marvel Rivals fan has created a stunning 3D print of one of the game's most popular characters, Invisible Woman, but the attention to detail given her powers is quite ironic. Invisible Woman joined the expansive Marvel Rivals roster at the start of Season 1 as a Strategist character. Invisible Woman's playstyle revolves around her healing and damaging enemies simultaneously, creating healing shields, and popping her ultimate Invisible Boundary to turn whole teams invisible. This 3D print, though, is anything but hidden.
As posted by Nooobishgamers on Reddit, the user has created a 3D print of Invisible Woman, using her Marvel Rivals model as inspiration. The 3D print is predominantly white, but the top is a little bit of a different shade because the model was still wet when the photo was taken, after the creator removed a dissolvable support material and some water got in the structure. The model even features Invisible Woman's in-game pose.

Your PC isn’t the only thing getting chomped in Marvel Rivals these days. Jeff the Land Shark has been terrorizing backlines since the game’s December 2024 debut; and unlike other Strategists who focus primarily on healing, this chompy boy thrives as a backline disruptor who can occasionally pop back to top off teammates.
But who should you pair with this adorable engine of chaos? While Jeff can handle himself with his borderline broken mobility and self-healing capabilities, the right teammates can transform him from annoying to absolutely devastating.
Best team composition for Jeff the Land Shark in Marvel Rivals
If you’ve spent any time with or against Jeff in Marvel Rivals, you know he’s not your typical healer. His “Hide and Seek” ability, paired with his chunky primary attacks, grants him incredible mobility, self-sustain, and damage output—making him more of a Duelist in Strategist clothing.

Just when you thought Marvel Rivals had ironed out its most frustrating bugs, a new exploit has emerged that’s making players question their life choices. NetEase Games’ hero shooter might be riding high with over 40 million players, but that success has attracted a particular breed of player that every online game dreads—the dedicated griefer.

The latest nightmare? A game-breaking exploit involving Doctor Strange and Jeff the Land Shark that’s sending unsuspecting players to a shadow dimension with no escape. And unlike Doctor Strange’s usual mystical banishments, this one doesn’t come with a return ticket.
What’s particularly infuriating isn’t just the bug itself—it’s the dedicated accounts being created specifically to ruin other players’ experiences. When someone names themselves “PortalToPrison” or “JeffToJail,” they’re not exactly hiding their villainous intentions.

Let’s face it—Marvel Rivals has given us plenty of heroes to love (and hate), but none quite as divisive as Jeff the Land Shark. This adorable yet terrifying Strategist has been swallowing entire teams with his ultimate ability since the game launched, leaving players both charmed and traumatized.

But there’s another furry friend from Marvel’s roster who could give Jeff a run for his money in the “cute but deadly” department. A character who’s already won hearts in the MCU and could bring a whole new dimension of adorable chaos to NetEase Games’ hero shooter.
And no, we’re not talking about Howard the Duck. We’re talking about someone with a much wetter nose and a significantly better “good boy” status.

In 1975, Steven Spielberg directed Jaws, giving Hollywood its first blockbuster and changing how movies were released. For a time, Jaws was the box office king that was part horror movie, part action film, and, with its PG rating, a popular go-to for families as well as kids who were just starting to dip their toes into the water of horror. Jaws completely took over pop culture and was copied everywhere, from the Land Shark skits on SNL, to a plethora of clones, and even its own bad sequels. Jaws has also been parodied relentlessly over the decades with so many bad sharksploitation films, but the best Jaws parody of all doesn't have a Great White shark, a snake, an alligator, or any other type of animal. In Blades, a local golf course is being stalked by a murderous, possessed lawnmower, and it's hilarious.

The likes of X-Men '97, What If...? and I Am Groot have proven to be very successful for Marvel Studios, so it's fair to wonder if an McU-based animated feature has ever been considered for theatrical release.

Jeff the Land Shark is an odd but charming character in Marvel Rivals whose abilities are designed to help support your team. With elusive movement, healing skills, and one of the strongest Ultimate moves in the game, Jeff is a great character to have as a teammate. Those looking to become a much-needed Strategist for their group should take the time to learn everything Jeff can do.
Strategists are low-health characters who specialize in backing up Dps Duelists and tank-like Vanguards on their team. With it being in the first few weeks of release, Marvel Rivals is in a strange spot that every competitive online game finds itself in at the start. Players are figuring out how the game's characters work and how to counter their Ultimate abilities. During this period, certain characters come out as especially dangerous, with Iron Fist being an example of a character that doesn't seem to have an immediate counter or strategy to deal with them. Despite this, Iron Fist isn't the character that players have dubbed the biggest menace in the game; Jeff is.

Warning: Contains spoilers for Venom War: It's Jeff! #1!!
There's no guidebook for handling symbiotes gone wild, especially if they start taking over Coney Island, such as happens in Marvel's latest Venom War tie-in comic. Enter the remnants of Kate Bishop's West Coast Avengers team to do what they do best: improvise. When Jeff the Land Shark becomes the latest symbiote vessel, and dozens of Swingers attack, the team uses a clever tool to keep the threat at bay.
In Venom War: It’s Jeff! #1 – written by Kelly Thompson, with art by Gurihuru – Hawkeye, Gwenpool, America Chavez, and Fuse get pulled into the middle of the Venom War, as Jeff the Land Shark becomes a host for a hungry symbiote, yet that's quickly secondary as Swingers begin taking over Coney Island.
Luckily for everyone except the unwanted symbiotes, nobody thinks on their feet quite like Gwen, Kate, and America. In one memorable move,...

"Saturday Night" is Jason Reitman's fast-paced, sizzling chronicle of the chaotic 90 minutes leading up to the premiere of the first episode of the late night sketch comedy series that would come to be known as "Saturday Night Live". As we know, the series would go on to become a staple of pop culture that changed comedy and television forever, and it's still going strong today in its 50th season.
But back in 1975, no one knew what this show would become, not even the young, confident showrunner Lorne Michaels (played by "The Fablemans" star Gabriel Labelle). Thankfully, we're in the future, and we know the long history of "SNL" that spans five decades, which includes a myriad of memorable sketches that have become greatest hits. That's why director Jason Reitman included some Easter eggs for hardcore "SNL" fans that allude to the future history of the show. Throughout the movie,...

In its 50-year history, Saturday Night Live has seen all kinds of hosts. Some are absolute geniuses on the show, have huge hits with the audience, and come back multiple times. Others were “flash in the pan” stars whose gigs are mostly forgotten. And then there are hosts who were absolutely terrible and never invited back.
Some go the extra mile and are openly banned by SNL, although it’s sometimes tricky to figure that out. Contrary to opinion, Charles Grodin wasn’t banned, but it was his own choice not to return as he didn’t feel he worked on the show. Many bans are for the musical guests, but these stand out as the SNL hosts were so awful they were banned from returning, and some big names on this list.

Saturday Night Live is about to hit its 50th anniversary, so no better time to count down the 25 funniest stars!
Narrowing down the best actors in a show that's run for five decades and boasted nearly 150 cast members is a challenge, to say the least. SNL has had its ups and downs over the years, with some periods boasting fantastic, brilliant comedic talents and others so low that many believed the show would be canceled. It's still survived, all thanks to that revolving cast of actors capable of pulling off these skits every week.
Many have gone on to become huge stars in movies and television and even bigger comics. Yet their SNL tenures often showed them at their best, with some standing taller than others. It's hard to figure it out, but here's how the 25 funniest SNL cast members of all time fall out as a stunning reminder of the show's legacy.

Marvel Rivals is known for its exciting roster of characters filled with popular Marvel characters, each bringing their own unique flair to the game. But occasionally, and rather rarely, there have been some niche characters like the recently revealed Jeff the Land Shark.
While fans eagerly anticipate new beloved additions, less-popular and weird superheroes might not make the cut. From quirky personalities to unconventional powers, these heroes could add a fresh twist to the roster. But, for various reasons, they might remain on the sidelines.
5. Squirrel Girl Squirrel Girl is as niche as it gets. Image via Marvel.
Squirrel Girl is a fan favorite due to her quirky nature and surprising powers. Despite her quirky appearance and powers that involve communicating with squirrels, she’s proven to be a formidable superhero in various Marvel storylines and comics.
Her unusual abilities might not align well with the combat style of the game.

Since NetEase Games’ revealed Marvel Rivals on March 27, comparisons to other popular hero shooters have all but been inevitable. Many have noticed the parallels between Marvel Rivals and Overwatch, and it’s undeniable, considering the gameplay we’ve witnessed so far.
However, dismissing the hero-shooter solely as a derivative work may be a bit unfair. Compared to other shooters, Marvel Rivals has the backing of a well-established Marvel lore that will make it the face of the genre once the game is eventually released globally.

Marvel Rivals‘ closed beta is already proving to be a huge success, with over 50,000 players logging in on its first day! NetEase has done a phenomenal job with the game, and with upcoming updates and additions, it’s trying its best to establish the game as the hero shooter of 2024.

NetEase Games’ upcoming team-based game, Marvel Rivals, shows a lot of promise. It blends age-old gameplay mechanics with a fresh roster of characters well-known to Marvel fans.
In doing so, it gives each character a unique set of skills along with a personality that distinguishes them from the rest. However, certain characters require more precision and aim compared to others, and the community agrees that one character is going to feel simpler for those not big on aiming.

In an appreciation post, user Pliskin14 on Reddit pointed out how they main Magik and they feels much simpler compared to other heroes in the game. The player usually prefers to play tank or support in such games, and Magik strikes that kind of balance.

With a title like Ninja vs Shark you might think this is another Mark Polonia film along the lines of Sharkula or Shark Encounters of the Third Kind. Or maybe one of the more bizarre Chinese kaiju films such as Land Shark. But you’d be wrong, it’s actually a Japanese film written by Junichiro Ashiki and directed by Kôichi Sakamoto.
During Japan’s Edo Period, Sayo, a pearl diver from the village of Okitsu, swims back to shore only to find the remains of one of her fellow divers washed up on the beach. This has been happening a lot since Lord Koshiro Mizuchi of the Crimson Devil Clan demanded the villagers hand over their pearls to him. When they refused he used sorcery to turn the sharks into living weapons.

Ralph Lee, one of the New York stage’s preeminent mask and puppetry designers perhaps most widely known for his “Land Shark” that ate various cast members of Saturday Night Live during the 1970s, died May 12 at his home in Manhattan following a months-long illness. He was 87.
His death was announced by the Westbeth Artists Housing and Center for the Arts, the Manhattan residential complex where he long resided. His wife Casey Compton told The New York Times that he had been in declining health for several months.
Among his other accomplishments, Lee is credited with having launched New York’s Greenwich Village Halloween Parade in 1974, an event that has grown to become one of the city’s largest and most cherished holiday events.

Who knew movie-goers had such a hunger for movies about animals on cocaine-fuelled rampages? In less than two weeks of release, director Elizabeth Banks’ Cocaine Bear (read our review Here) has racked up over $50 million at the box office. In the build-up to the release of that film, a news report about New Zealand police recovering more than three tons of cocaine that was found floating in the Pacific Ocean got people talking about the possibility of a Cocaine Shark movie… and the idea was even passed along to Banks, who said, “Jaws with cocaine, I don’t see how that loses.” But as it turns out, Banks has been beaten to the Cocaine Shark idea by prolific low budget filmmaker Mark Polonia, whose own Cocaine Shark movie is so far along that it has already secured a distribution deal with Wild Eye Releasing, and a trailer is already online!

Wild Eye Releasing has just unveiled the trailer for Shark Encounters of the Third Kind. The movie finds inspiration from two Steven Spielberg classics: Jaws and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. With influences like that, and a low budget, the movie is already set up for success. If that wasn't enough, it was directed by horror/sci-fi legend Mark Polonia, who is responsible for 1986's Splatter Farm, Amityville Exorcism, Splatter Beach, Land Shark, and way too many more to list here. Shark Encounters of the Third Kind can currently be streamed via VOD and purchased Digitally right now. A DVD and Blu-ray release is coming in March 2021.
Shark Encounters of the Third Kind is directed by Mark Polonia from a screenplay penned by John Oak Dalton. The movie stars Titus Himmelberger, Natalie Himmelberger, and Jennie Russo. The movie surrounds a group of hostile aliens who crash land at the bottom of the ocean.
