Image
One of the most claustrophobic movies to ever hit the big screen is about to hit the Brazilian small screen. David Fincher's 2002 thriller, Panic Room, is set to be remade in Brazil with a new cast, director, and an updated take for modern audiences.

Brazilian production company Floresta—which is owned by Sony Pictures Television—has announced the development of this remake as its first-ever telefilm (as reported by Variety). The Jodie Foster/Kristen Stewart-led film will find itself reborn under the direction of Gabriela Amaral Almeida, and will star popular Brazilian actress Isis Valverde. It is already in pre-production.

"2024 has been a challenging yet generous year for me, full of possibilities, plans, and projects finally getting off the drawing board," Valverde explained in a quote to Variety. "Ending this year with such great news is incredible. Being chosen to play this role is an honor, as is...

Scott Eastwood and Sylvester Stallone load up in the trailer for Alarum
Image
While Sylvester Stallone is enjoying success on his show Tulsa King, he doesn’t stray too far from movies, but it’s looking more and more like his side hustle nowadays. Stallone was recently featured in Armor, which was a low-budget action thriller that primarily focused on a single location on a bridge. In his review, our Alex Maidy said Armor “is nowhere near mediocre due to formulaic action that cannot even muster enough energy to keep attention on screen.” Plus, there’s talk that Sly received a supposed $3.5 million for a single day’s work. Enter the trailer for Alarum, which flaunts Stallone in the marketing but looks as if he’s carved out the same deal for this film.

Grindstone Entertainment, which resides under Lionsgate, has released the trailer, which stars Scott Eastwood (The Fate of the Furious, Suicide Squad), Sylvester Stallone (Rocky franchise, Creed), Willa Fitzgerald (Strange Darling,...

Brazil’s Maria Fernanda Candido to Star in Marco Bellocchio’s ‘The Traitor’ (Exclusive)
Marco Bellocchio in La belle endormie (2012)
Brazilian actress and model Maria Fernanda Candido is to play the female lead in veteran Italian auteur Marco Bellocchio’s “The Traitor,” a biopic of Tommaso Buscetta, the first high-ranking member of Cosa Nostra to break the Sicilian Mafia’s oath of silence.

Candido, who most recently starred in Rede Globo’s popular prime-time soap “Edge of Desire,” will play Buscetta’s third wife, Maria Cristina de Almeida Guimaraes, the daughter of an upper-crust Brazilian lawyer. She played an important part in her husband’s decision in 1984 to start cooperating with Italian and, later, American prosecutors.

She is believed to have been crucial in prompting Buscetta to turn against the Corleonesi faction in the first major “betrayal” within Cosa Nostra’s high-ranks. Buscetta’s testimony about heroin smuggling in the ”pizza connection” case in the mid-1980s allowed him to obtain U.S. citizenship and a place in the witness protection program.
