Exclusive: Ellen won’t be growing up on HBO Max.

Deadline understands the streamer has canceled animated series Little Ellen ahead of its Season 3 premiere.

The third season of the show, which centers on a 7-year-old Ellen DeGeneres, was completed and previously had been dated to air in June, but its premiere was pushed back.

TV Cancellations Photo Gallery: Shows Ending In 2022 & Beyond

It is the latest example of Warner Bros. Discovery canceling a show or movie that has already been produced. Deadline revealed that reality series The Big D had been axed by two weeks ahead of its premiere, ostensibly for tax reasons, allowing the company to write down the costs of the project.

Yesterday, this went to another level after the company scrapped high-profile DC movie Batgirl.

Essentially, Wbd is able to write off the costs of certain productions as part of a “purchase accounting” maneuver because of...

Scott Foley Set As Co-Host & Judge For Ellen DeGeneres’ ‘Next Great Designer’ HBO Max Series

Scandal and Whiskey Cavalier alum — and amateur furniture maker — Scott Foley has been tapped as co-host and lead judge on Ellen’s Next Great Designer, HBO Max’s furniture design competition series starring and executive produced by Ellen DeGeneres.

In Ellen’s Next Great Designer, design aficionado DeGeneres will give eight forward-thinking furniture designers the chance to push their creativity to the limit. DeGeneres will be on hand each episode to weigh in on each challenge and provide humorous, colorful commentary.

Appearing alongside her will be co-host Foley, who also will lead a three-person judging panel on the competition series.

This is a familiar area for Foley, who has described himself as “someone who likes to dabble in furniture building.”

During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Foley shared his love for home improvement TV shows, and DeGeneres staged a mock audition for him to host PBS’ This Old House...

Ellen DeGeneres To Receive Carol Burnett Award At The 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards
Ellen DeGeneres in American Idol: The Search for a Superstar (2002)
Stand-up comedian, award-winning talk show host and humanitarian Ellen DeGeneres is set to be honored with the second Carol Burnett Award at the 77th annual Golden Globe Awards which will take place on January 5, 2020.

The Carol Burnett Award is presented to someone who has made outstanding contributions to the television medium on and/or off the screen. From being a stand-up to her groundbreaking self-titled sitcom and now her wildly successful syndicated daytime talk show The Ellen DeGeneres Show to her advocacy, DeGeneres fulfills all those requirements. The Golden Globe accolade is the TV equivalent to its film counterpart, the Cecil B. DeMille Award. The award was first introduced last year at the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards and was given to the one and only Carol Burnett, naturally.

“The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is delighted to honor Ellen DeGeneres with the Carol Burnett Award,” said Lorenzo Soria, President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Ellen DeGeneres has been tapped to receive the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s second-ever Carol Burnett Award. The honor will be handed out at the 76th Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, Jan. 5.

The award, which honors TV notables, was introduced during last year’s ceremony; namesake Carol Burnett received the inaugural accolade. DeGeneres, who is set to accept the award in person at the event, is a three-time Golden Globe nominee.

“From her sitcoms, to stand-up, to becoming a household staple on daytime television, she is a pioneer who has captivated audiences for nearly 25 years with her undeniable charm and wit,” said HFPA president Lorenzo Soria. “In addition to her television success, she’s an advocate and philanthropist, lending her voice to those who don’t have one, and spreading kindness and joy through the power of her platform. We look forward to celebrating her achievements at this year’s ceremony.

Ellen DeGeneres Signs 4-Series Deal With HBO Max
Ellen DeGeneres in American Idol: The Search for a Superstar (2002)
HBO Max has signed daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres to a four-series deal.

The upcoming streaming service from WarnerMedia has given a straight-to-series pickup for three of DeGeneres’ shows, with a fourth one in development. The three series ordered already are: “Ellen’s Home Design Challenge,” “First Dates Hotel” and “Little Ellen.” The docu-series “Finding Einstein” is the one in development.

“Ellen is a singular talent, and a powerhouse, creative triple-threat that we are lucky to have now bringing her talents to bear on behalf of HBO Max,” said Kevin Reilly, Chief Content Officer, HBO Max and president, TNT, TBS, and truTV. “Ellen’s flair for home design and matchmaking will most certainly inspire and delight – but HBO Max is full service, so as not to leave the kids out she’s bringing them back to the hilarious misadventures of her childhood in an imaginative animated series.”

Ellen DeGeneres Sets Four Series at HBO Max
Ellen DeGeneres in American Idol: The Search for a Superstar (2002)
Ellen DeGeneres is substantially expanding her producing portfolio.

The multi-hyphenate, who signed a three-year extension to her daytime hosting gig earlier this year, is behind four new shows coming to HBO Max, three of which have been handed straight-to-series orders, and one of which has been put in development.

DeGeneres announced the pickups on her talk show and, in typical Ellen fashion, also surprised her audience with a two-year HBO Max subscription in celebration of the news. The three series orders in question are for design competition show “Ellen’s Home Design Challenge,” dating show “First Dates Hotel,” and 2D animated children’s series “Little Ellen.” The show in development is a docu-series titled “Finding Einstein.”

“I’m very excited to bring my new shows to HBO Max. I don’t know who Max is, but I can’t wait to work with him,” DeGeneres joked.

All four series come...
