Summer is about to finally, blessedly be in full swing. And to honor the occasion, Hulu is showing up big with its list of new releases for June 2022.
Hulu is bringing two major TV titles to its stream this month. The first is The Orville: New Horizons on June 2. Seth MacFarlane’s sci-fi/comedy started as a simple Star Trek parody on Fox before blossoming into its own entirely sincere space adventuring beast. Now “New Horizons” promises to be a fresh start for the series on Hulu. Next up is Only Murders in the Building season 2 on June 28. Season 1 of this Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez-starring series was a big hit. Let’s see if our favorite podcasters can pull it off once again.

Protecting the fountain of youth is a powerful motivator for dark forces to kill anyone who threatens their way of life. That’s certainly the case for the supernatural entities in the new horror thriller, ‘Warhunt.’ The film’s antagonistic coven of witches is determined to stop a U.S. military squad, which led in part by actor […]

From the early 1970s to the mid-1980s DC Comics published Weird War Tales which, as the title infers, added supernatural threats to the danger of combat. WarHunt feels like director Mauro Borrelli and co-writers Reggie Keyohara III and Scott Svatos (The Ghostmaker) sat down with a stack of them for inspiration when they came up with this tale of World War II GIs behind Nazi lines fighting a coven of witches.
In the film’s opening scenes a military transport flying over the Black Forest is attacked and brought down by crows who prove that a group of them isn’t called a murder for nothing. Major Johnson sends Sgt. Brewer and his...

Movies about WWII and the Nazi's creating some sort of supernatural entity/soldier/curse to help them win the war have become quite common over the past few years and while the staying power and quality of these varies wildly, once in a while one comes along that surpasses expectation. WarHunt is definitely one of those.
Written and directed by Mauro Borrelli, WarHunt stars Robert Knepper as Sergeant Brewer, a seasoned veteran who leads a group of soldiers into Germany's Black forest to secure the top-secret cargo that was lost when a US military cargo plane crashed. Among his soldiers is Walsh (Jackson Rathbone), a soldier with specialized training that will prove helpful to this particular mission.

It’s difficult, if not impossible, to go wrong mixing Nazis and zombies. Alas, co-writer/director Mauro Borrelli’s World War II-set horror film, Warhunt, dashes those expectations early on, instead going in a different, far less satisfying direction. It’s not for wont of a good set-up or premise, but as with everything in or out of film, it’s always about execution. And with a budget somewhere between low and micro, Warhunt disappoints every time the story turns in the general direction of an extended set piece or action scene. Even the promise of viscera or gore fails repeatedly, a combination of said budget and an apparent lack of nerve on the part of Borrelli...

During his 1980s and ’90s heyday as a frightfully prolific star of blood-and-thunder direct-to-video fare, Wings Hauser once aptly described his target audience as “the microwave-burrito guys at 2 a.m. with a beer in their hands” — and, presumably, a Vcr remote switch nearby. Nowadays, that audience can digitally stream their B-movies of choice. But while the favored cuisine of these undiscriminating customers might have changed, the cinematic product they consume remains pretty much the same, albeit enhanced by better production values and, with all due respect to Mr. Hauser, superior star power.
All of which brings us to “WarHunt,” a modestly diverting mashup of WWII actioner and horror thriller that would not have been out of place on a New Release shelf at Blockbuster not so terribly long ago. Wait, scratch that: It would have been a standout on the shelf, if only when compared to the many lesser titles stocked around it.

"I promise I'll get us all out of here!" Saban Films has debuted an official trailer for an action thriller horror feature titled WarHunt, from filmmaker Mauro Borrelli. This is arriving on VOD in January, taking that usual slot (earlier this year it was another WWII action thriller horror feature called Shadow in the Cloud). WarHunt has a similar vibe to Dog Soldiers or the more recent Overlord. A US military plane crash lands in the German forest during World War II. As the soldiers venture into the forest, they discover dead bodies with organs missing and mysterious signs. Soon they start to find some kind of demons out there. But what exactly is it?! The cast includes Mickey Rourke, Jackson Rathbone, Robert Knepper, Josh Burdett, Alex Mills, Fredrik Wagner, Matt Mella, Timo Willman, and Ben McKeown. Oh damn this actually looks pretty good! It leans into the supernatural a bit more than Overlord,...

The lockdown is affecting everyone in different ways. Some are using the time to better themselves, get back in touch with old friends and acquaintances, and take stock of the direction in which their lives are headed. Star of the 2008 movie The Wrestler, Mickey Rourke, on the other hand, is choosing to start a feud with Robert De Niro, starting things off by posting a picture of the actor on Instagram with the following threatening message.

Mickey Rourke and Robert De Niro are two guys you wouldn’t want to leave alone in a room together. Especially as evidenced by Mickey Rourke’s recent Instagram post, which attacks De Niro alleging that he called Rourke a “liar” in newspapers. Rourke made headlines last fall when he said that De Niro, with whom he starred in Alan Parker’s 1987 neo-noir “Angel Heart,” blocked him from co-starring in Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman.” See the Instagram post, originally published Friday, below.
