"Happy Anniversary" marked the first major character growth for Johnny Rose, as he realized the value of Schitt's Creek and acknowledged the good it brought into his life. Johnny's confrontation with his old friends showcased a different side of him, demonstrating his growth and appreciation for the town and its residents. This episode set the stage for the Roses to embrace Schitt's Creek and embark on their own journeys of self-improvement.
In its first two seasons, Schitt's Creek proved to be a funny fish-out-of-water comedy, but it wasn't until the season 2 finale, "Happy Anniversary," that the show elevated itself from good to great through Johnny Rose. Throughout Schitt's Creek season 1, the Roses clearly see themselves as superior to Schitt's Creek's citizens while trying to do everything possible to get out. Season 2 centers around their realization that, because they may never get back on their feet, Schitt's Creek may be their home now.

With its list of new releases for June 2023, Prime is bringing a handful of Amazon Originals and many recent movie hits to the fold.
It’s actually quite a busy month for non-American programming in Amazon Originals department. Shows and movies like Deadloch, My Fault, and Medellín all originate from outside the U.S. and U.K. For the American and British crowd, however, the streamer is debuting two big tentpoles.
The first is I’m a Virgo on June 23. Acclaimed director Boots Riley’s TV followup to Sorry to Bother You will tale the surreal and satirical tale of a giant in Oakland. That will be followed by the more conventional (assumedly) fourth season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan on June 30.
The real fireworks this month come from a ludicrously deep bench of library TV and movie titles. Give them a look for yourself below but if we were to highlight just a few,...

With Outer Banks season 3 on the way, there are a lot of updates concerning what's happening in the new season. Created by Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke, Outer Banks follows the residents of North Carolina's titular islands. They are divided between the affluent community of Figure 8 known colloquially as Kooks and the have-nots known as Pogues. Firmly embodying the latter are John B. Routledge (Chase Stokes), Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline), JJ Maybank (Rudy Pankow), Kiara Carrera (Madison Bailey), and Pope Heyward (Jonathan Daviss). Together, they hunt treasures that could change all their lives.
Outer Banks season 2 picks up immediately where things left off during the ending of Outer Banks season 1, and season 3 is set to follow that trend. The adrenaline-fueled teen drama has been able to marry the relationships of teen soaps with the action of adventure movies in a way that keeps Netflix subscribers tuning in. It's...

The word rang out this morning in the world of laughter. A member of comedy royalty had taken his last well-deserved bow.
Here’s how the AP news service spread the word:
New York (AP) — Carl Reiner, the ingenious and versatile writer, actor and director who broke through as a “second banana” to Sid Caesar and rose to comedy’s front ranks as creator of “The Dick Van Dyke Show” and straight man to Mel Brooks’ “2000 Year Old Man,” has died. He was 98.
Reiner’s assistant Judy Nagy said he died Monday night of natural causes at his home in Beverly Hills, California.
While he made significant contributions to the worlds of live theatre, television, recordings, and literature, we at Wamg would like to applaud his body of work in motion pictures: acting, writing and directing. But in order to begin, lets’ double back to TV. Carl first achieved worldwide...

Luis Buñuel (left) and Jean-Claude Carrière (right).“The screenplay is not the last stage of a literary journey. It is the first stage of a film.” —Jean-Claude Carrière, The Secret Language of FilmThe screenwriting career of Jean-Claude Carrière begins with a gag. Or, it at least seems like a gag that one of the most prolific and distinguished of French screenwriters should have gotten his start by doing the very opposite of what he became known for—that is, by writing novelizations of two films. Having just published his first novel Lizard in 1957, the 25-year-old Carrière was approached by his publisher Robert Laffont to enter a curious writing contest. The prize? A commission to turn Jacques Tati’s Monsieur Hulot’s Holiday (1953) and Mon Oncle (1958)—the latter still in production at the time—into written works. Recalling the incident later on, Carrière writes: “I agreed, and won—thus deciding, although...

If you like superheroes and animals equally, you're in luck. Warner Bros. is currently developing an animated Super Pets movie, with writer Jared Stern penning the script. Throughout its history, DC Comics has given their various heroes animal counterparts that have often been accomplices on various adventures with the non-animal do-gooders. However, there were times when the pets united to form a group known as the Super Pets and Warner Bros. is hoping to spin that idea into some gold with a new animated feature.
Jared Stern already has a proven track record within the DC universe, having penned the screenplay for last year's The Lego Batman Movie, which is arguably the best DC movie that Warner Bros. has made in the last five years. Stern also penned The Lego Ninjago Movie, the upcoming animated movie Smallfoot, as well as live-action comedies like The Internship, The Watch and Mr. Popper's Penguins.

Warner Bros. has been having a lot of success with their animated movies, and after the release of Teen Titans Go! to the Movies, the studio announced that they were developing another DC animated film called Super Pets and they've hired The Lego Batman Movie and The Lego Ninjago Movie writer, Jared Stern to write and direct the film.
The story will focus on the pets of the classic DC heroes. According to Collider, it’s "unclear whether Stern will use DC’s Legion of Super-Pets or the Cartoon Network series as the basis for the script, or whether he’ll create new characters better suited to his vision for the film."

It’s a phrase on billions of greeting cards, exchanged between millions of couples who may or may not mean it. “Happy anniversary.” Now it’s the title of a Netflix romantic-comedy starring Ben Schwartz and Noël Wells. But the story of a couple who grapple with their relationship on the day of their third anniversary may be more […]

"I miss the person that I met three years ago... That guy was romantic." Netflix has debuted the first trailer for a romantic comedy titled Happy Anniversary, which is the directorial debut of screenwriter Jared Stern. The story is about a couple, as they approach their third anniversary, who must decide whether to stay together or call it quits. This actually looks maybe even better than you're expecting, so you might want to take a look anyway. Ben Schwartz (from The Intervention, "Parks and Rec") and Noel Wells (from Mr. Roosevelt, Infinity Baby, "Master of None") star as the main couple Sam and Mollie, with a cast including Annie Potts, Joe Pantoliano, Isidora Goreshter, and Rahul Kohli. This does look like a good mix of humor and emotion, with some funny and still poignant moments. Might hit a little close to home for some. Here's the official trailer for Jared Stern's Happy Anniversary,...

Noël Wells recently popped up on our radar last year with her directorial debut “Mr. Roosevelt.” We enjoyed the film, and have been looking forward to what’s next on the actress’ docket. Well, in a new trailer for the film “Happy Anniversary,” we see Wells in what could be a pretty fun film.
While Wells didn’t write or direct “Happy Anniversary” (that went to “The Lego Batman Movie” writer Jared Stern), you can see her comedic sensibilities shine in the trailer.

Sam and Molly aren’t having a great anniversary. In Jared Stern’s directorial debut “Happy Anniversary,” the long-time couple are ostensibly celebrating three years together when Molly (Noël Wells) makes a startling admission: she’s not happy. That’s certainly one way to put a major pin in Sam (Ben Schwartz) offering up relatively benign wish of “happy anniversary” on, you know, their actual anniversary.
What follows in the new Netflix original is a day-long exploration of the pair’s relationship, complete with flashbacks to their earliest days, and a two-pronged perspective that allows both Sam and Molly to explore the good and bad of their bond, and where it might go in the future.
It’s a cute conceit for a rom-com, but it’s also laced through with truth — Stern himself has admitted it’s a semi-autobiographical tale — and the problems that plague Sam and Molly are extremely relatable.

Rahul Kohli has been cast in the Netflix romantic comedy Happy Anniversary from writer/director Jared Stern. The pic stars Noel Wells and Ben Schwartz as a couple at a relationship crossroads who must decide whether to stay together or calls it quits. Kohli will play Ed, Sam’s (Schwartz) loyal and vulgar best friend and business partner. Helena Heyman, M. Elizabeth Hughes, and Marc Provissiero are producing. Kohli, best known for his role as forensic pathologist Dr. Ravi…...
