Project Runway, but with beauticians

I'd give this 5 stars, based solely on the first episode, if ratings were enabled yet.

The look and format of the show is straight from Project Runway. If they aren't using the same catwalk, it's at least based on the one from Project Runway. The lead judge, Adriana Lima, even manages to sound eerily like Heidi Klum, despite that they come from different continents.

It's strange that the contestants (who have a hair and/or makeup background) are expected to also delve into selecting the attire of their models, and directing them for a photo shoot. I'm not well versed in the technicalities of the modeling world, but I thought directors of some sort would usually oversee that, as well as telling the beauticians what to do.

Perhaps the idea is to find a beautician who is also a naturally talented but untrained director, but there doesn't seem to be any educational component to the show. Hence the photo shoot consisted of a lot of frustrated shouting from the contestants, and confusion from their models.

Aside from the lack of a clear direction or concept for the show, it was fairly enjoyable to watch. The chaos and frustration were a bit humorous to watch.

Meh, it passes the time

Season one was a bit rough. Working with a partner that wasn't a contestant made little sense. I'm glad they had contestants that were skilled in beauty as well as hair for season 2. That being said, the artificial drama they jack up with editing was profoundly annoying. Cheesy "suspense" created at every chance. Producers should have more confidence in the intelligence of the viewer. We see through that and it becomes tiresome and truly robs the show of credibility.

Christy Brinkley is a lovely addition in season 2. Although, being that it is a beauty show, whoever does her makeup has questionable skills to say the least. She is a gorgeous woman in her 60's. Embrace that. Instead she is plagued with a copious amount of product, blush covering half of her face. She looks ridiculous.

Overall, entertaining and interesting with room for some serious improvement.

Snooze fest

I have to completely disagree with the previous reviewer. This is a low budget copy of Project Runway. After three episodes, it is very milk toast. They only do quick shots of the finished hair and make-up. If they are truly going to copy Project Runway, they should have the models actually out on the runway in person during the critiques and deliberations, instead of showing the models' pictures for two seconds. Adriana Lima is a weak Heidi Klum wannabe. I find it really annoying when she calls the contestants "my beauties". She is so bland. The runway also looks low-budget. They definitely need a new set designer.

Ridiculous noise!

Stumbled across this on my Roku App. Already a fan of Project Runway/ANTM it looked up my street and the first 2 episodes started well. However I switched off after the pop-up beauty episode. Who on Earth green-lit this with the super loud synthetic keyboard music overlay?! I couldn't hear a single word the contestants or judges were saying so I simply couldn't watch it.

This stinks of amateur tv production and doesn't set a great scene for the remaining episodes. I'll just Google the contestants instead to find out who wins.

Unbelievably irritating.

The show had good promise but I'm not surprised it only lasted 2 seasons.

Another bad reality show ,when will they end?

Not worth the time or effort to watch. How did an ex adult entertainer star like Jana Laurin get to be on of the hosts? How does ex adult entertainer like Stormy Daniels get where she is doing those sort of things? It a sad world we live in. Those kinds of people should get these jobs when others try to do things the right way. Deviant behavior should not be rewarded.

Mindless entertainment, but entertainment nonetheless

I really enjoy this show, despite the disaster of a pilot. I started watching because of Adriana Lima. In the pilot, the contestants were not clear, they only showed one-second clips of the final looks, and product placement was absolutely rampant. The show has gained its footing over the past few episodes. Adriana has warmed up as a host and the personalities of the contestants are evident. I enjoy it. Plus, the names! Emily Soto for God's sake.
