Rifka Lodeizen and Teun Luijkx in Fenix (2018)

Not 2 bad

First review ever because I don't agree with the other reviews. Yes it is slow but I liked it. It's not about the drugs or quick money. It's about character building and story telling. For dutch/Belgium standards pretty ok.

Gritty

Nice and gritty, a true lowlands-noir. Shot in a bleak blueish teint , excellent actors. Need i say more?

Boring without red thread

Story is not new but in that surrounding not bad. the confuse narrative style looks not professionally more like the work of a crazy professor...

Noirish to the hilt.

Yes it's slow, and not for the impatient and young, but it's one of the better Noir series in recent years. There are the inevitable plot holes to maneuver around but they don't irritate because the story is deep and complex and multi layered. It borrows from "The Godfather" and "Shakespeare," "Narcos" and many Noirs, but it does so lovingly. The tough, asocial, main female lead is now de rigueur, time to soften the breed, as is the calm, never rattled sociopath, whatever happened to Bat Poop crazy? I see a second season coming.

Fenix Not one wasted moment-a meditation for viewers who don't mind thinking

This was quite the surprise. In first 10,minutes nor dialogue practically, just ominous plotting in a bleak but captivating landscape. I was just waiting for the cut to the office where the banal small talk would have made me change the channel, but it never came. The plot just keeps moving with minimal words, no wasted melodrama and anticipation of the story and motives revealing themselves. But surprisingly the reveals never really come or just raise more questions. Very subdued yet imminent feeling and with the entrance of Ms Rifka an alluring sharp tough and yes attractive woman determined to pierce the veils of bad actors as well as questionable officials it's hard not to watch all episodes in a single day. After a hard week at work, and the shallowness of the current social malaise this series is a welcome relief from the social shallowness promoted everywhere in our culture and politics and embraced by the rubes who do their bidding.

Underrated

Skipped this series a few times, because of the general sentiment in the reviews. The acting felt a bit clunky on some moments, but in general I thoroughly enjoyed the storylines and characters.

Difficult to get drawn to the story

I was surprised by slow scenes. Very well acted I must say. The actors made me finish the season. The script has some weird twists, but in general the script is good. I just wish the pace was much faster with shorter highlights throughout the season.

Very solid

With a superb atmosphere. A dutch series which deserves more attention. Hope Netflix will continue the series.

Extremely bad acting and unrealistic storyline

Bad copy of Undercover series which is way better in all means. Indeed extremely slow, cheap acting performance and non credible sequence of scenes and action. Waste of time.

Super slow

Super slow and more soap drama than crime, takes forever to get to the xtc lab you see in the trailer, and it wasn't worth the wait 😴 Cool if they were going just for a gypsy drama perhaps, but if you mention a Dutch xtc lab, you might want to make it a little bit more energetic to please the type of crowd you attract with that 😝🤣

Slow and bad acting

It's very slow and the acting is horrible. From a country (Belgium) where the quality usually pretty good is. This is the worse series I've seen in years.
