I wanna see it live !!!

Move everything on your watchlists one place down and put this first. In fact, whatever you do, pause it for an hour and watch this now. Theatrical adaptation of Peter Pan that "goes wrong" is so over the top that it should be painfully stupid. But this amateur dramatics group pulled it off amazingly. They went so far over the top that they made hilarious comedy that will make you laugh to tears. If I ever get a chance to see this in theater I surely won't miss it.

What a joy this was!

Finally! After the soaps have all taken their turn to depress us, several 'specials' have been anything but, and ITV have rammed a Harry Potter season down our necks, it's great that the BBC have brought us this brilliant bit of fun entertainment.

This was a joy from start to finish, and if anything meets the 'perfect family viewing' title it's this. It was good old fashioned slapstick entertainment, that brilliantly spoofed not only Peter Pan but life in Am-Dram groups in general.

If only there was more programmes like this on telly across the year. I certainly would rank this up there with 'Ethel and Ernest' as the best things that have been on over Christmas.

Charming

This is an excellent way to spend an hour. I laughed out loud a number of times and even when I wasn't laughing, I was smiling. I highly recommend.

Peter Pan goes Wrong

I smiled and laughed through most of this show. It makes me think how much more enjoyable school plays would be for both the children and the audience if they were presented like this performance. Anything that would go wrong would just be part of the play and everyone would laugh. It is just what it is supposed to be lighthearted fun.

Amazing TV adaptation of an even more amazing play

I love and saw all three major plays by the Mischief Theatre several times. The Play That Goes Wrong, Peter Pan Goes Wrong and Comedy About the Bank Robbery and I love all of them. Saw all three with the original cast. Every time I'm in London I go and see one or more of their plays, which is what I plan to do this January, too (I'll go and see Petert Pan Goes Wrong). I was pleasantly surprised to see that BBC planned to show it on New Year's Eve and told all my friends. The TV version was almost all there, they obviously shortened it a bit. I especially missed the part in which the mother tries to turn off the lamps in the children's room, but also enjoyed the video additions which you don't see in the theatre (the joke on the lake and later going through the various BBC studios etc.) If this becomes available somewhere online, definitely watch it. It's hilarious.

Hilarious take on amateur theater productions

A great depiction of an amateur production of Peter Pan where everything that can go wrong goes wrong. It is just a riot and an incredibly funny depiction of everyday people wanting to have a taste of the glitz and glamour of the theater stage with hilarious results.

...goes wrong indeed...

I never saw "A play that goes wrong" but this was absolutely hilarious.

You probably know the premise: they try to do this familiar play but at every turn everything goes spectacularly and side splittingly pair shaped from technical problems, actors confusing lines and costume malfunctions.

I appreciate that on paper it sounds a bit painful and liable to just coast people humiliating themselves and easy gags that are just copy and pasted from disastrous rehearsals the writers have been in but the whole thing is impeccably thought through and choreographed to precision and executed flawlessly by an amazing cast.

And on top of all that there is a narrative among the in-universe cast that develops and resolves without detracting from the main thing.

I can be something of a comedy snob but this was the real deal. Legit comedy in its purest form.

Phenomenal

We were lucky enough to see 'Comedy about a Bank Robbery' live having seen 'Peter Pan goes wrong' on the beeb. Just so clever and funny; rewatching it this Christmas really helped lift our family and I cannot wait to see them in the theatre again once all this misery is done.

I know it's behind me. I directed the play.

The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society performance of Peter Pan caused chaos on BBC1 this evening.

They might had roped in big named actor David Suchet as a narrator and a member of the production pulled some strings with an aunt at the BBC who is an executive.

However this was a production to forget with inept performers who could not remember their lines, the flimsy set breaking apart, actors set on fire and performers falling and getting seriously injured. At one point the pirate ship sails off to the set of the Teletubbies.

Peter Pan Goes Wrong is a stage show in the West End by Mischief Theatre. It features a fictional amateur dramatic theatre group's production of Peter Pan which intentionally goes wrong.

It certainly is good fun and viewers will enjoy the intentional clumsiness.

Oh, Yes It Does!

As I write this, the Mischief Theatre is on Broadway at the Barrymore Theater with this burlesque of J. M. Barrie's show. If, however, you don't have the $85 dollars, or can't get to Broadway, you can look at this BBC production from 2016.

There are several obvious ways for this show to go wrong; the flying harnesses are the obvious things. However, the scheduled problems with this production don't end with that particular gag -- or start with them either. There are problems backstage as well as on, performers get stuck in embarrassing poses, there are audience members heckling, players getting angry, narrator David Suchet gets trapped in the chaos, and even a story that goes on about the cast, a bunch of farceurs who will keep you laughing throughout.

"Oh Come On!". What fun this was!

I'm not one for slapstick humor. Although this has it, it is acted so very well.

Nancy Zamit as TinkerBell (she plays more than 3 characters throughout the entire play) was hysterical. I had to go back a few times to watch her and some of her dance ditties.

All of the characters are adults...playing children in some parts. They carried it off really well. Several of the actors played more than 1 character and were enjoyable to watch them play a different character but still have remnants (on purpose) of the other characters they play. Sounds simple enough, but it's not. Many Hollyweirdohs high and mighty have been paid much more and would never be able to do it.

Just go in to this not knowing too much, other than the Peter Pan story itself.

Stick with it and you'll be in for a pleasant and funny watch. Some parts just to put a smile on your face as it's just clean fun.

Great humor, no cussing, just general good fun for the entire family.

So refreshing in these days and times where fighting, full frontal nonsense, and social justice pontificating have become the norm in everything made now.

It'd be so refreshing to have more of this type of viewing.

Kudos to the writers and actors. Good job. I watched this on Youtube Red free movies in case you're looking for it.
