Netflix announced in early 2023 that it would adapt the first two books by author A.J. Quinell into an exciting new thriller series called Man on Fire. Fear Street’s Kyle Killen will write and produce the eight-episode series, with Steven Caple Jr. confirmed to direct. Kyle Killen wrote and produced the 8-episode series based on the novels by A.J. Quinell. Killen previously worked on the Fear Street trilogy for Netflix and the television adaptation of the video game Halo.

Actor Michael B. Jordan, in a new video, breaks down some of his most iconic film characters, and, of course, that included his turn as Adonis, the son of Apollo Creed (the late Carl Weathers), in the Creedtrilogy. In the GQ sit-down posted to YouTube, Jordan talks about why a fourth Creed movie hasn’t hit the big screen.

So far, there are three Creed movies, beginning with Creed in 2015, followed by Creed II in 2018, and Creed III in 2023. “Yeah, the fourth one, eventually, not sure when, but we left the door open to build on that franchise,” Jordan said about a followup to Creed III.

Now, speaking with GQ, Michael B. Jordan has revealed that he is now thinking about the direction of Creed 4, with the actor, who will also return to direct after making his filmmaking debut with 2023’s Creed 3, determined to get the sequel right.

Michael B. Jordan is willing and ready to share the screen with his Creed III co-star Jonathan Majors again. More than a year after Majors was convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Jordan has opened up about the odds for a potential on-screen reunion between the two.

Speaking with GQ, Jordan noted that Majors' trial was a "tough situation" to watch unfold at the time. In December 2023, a six-person jury found Majors guilty of two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault, while he was acquitted on two other counts: intentional assault in the third degree and aggravated harassment in the second degree. The actor was sentenced in April 2024 to one year of domestic violence counseling.

In a January 25 X post, Luke Cage executive producer and Creed II scribe Cheo Hodari Coker responded to a fan post lauding the series' storytelling. "Glad y'all are finally discovering it," Coker wrote. "And what we had planned for Season 3 was even better... all Public Enemy song titles as the thematics, starting with 'Public Enemy #1' and ending with 'Rebel Without a Pause." When asked how far in the development process the third season got before the series was shelved, Coker responded, "Six episodes written, 8 outlined, 13 projected...and nope, I ain't saying sh*t."

Exclusive: John Ridley, the Oscar winner behind 12 Years a Slave, is developing a feature take on Isaac Asimov’s 1954 sci-fi novel The Caves of Steel for 20th Century Studios, Deadline can reveal.

Ridley plans to direct Caves of Steel, having written the most recent draft of the script with Cheo Hodari Coker, the multi-hyphenate best known for creating Marvel’s recent Luke Cage series.

A landmark work of science fiction, which is the first in Asimov’s Robot series, The Caves of Steel introduces readers to a future Earth where humanity has retreated into vast, domed cities — known as the “Caves of Steel” — to escape the harshness of the outside world. The story follows Elijah Baley, a New York City detective who is reluctantly partnered with R. Daneel Olivaw, a humanoid robot, to solve the high-profile murder of a “Spacer” scientist. As Baley navigates the investigation, tensions arise between Earth’s overcrowded, robot-wary society and the more advanced Spacer civilizations, which embrace robotic integration.

Previously, BBC adapted the novel for television, with radio and game adaptations also emerging. Sources said Ridley’s film may also take inspiration from The Caves of Steel‘s sequels, The Naked Sun and The Robots of Dawn.

For Asimov, the Robot series captured a longtime interest in artificial intelligence, which produced his influential “Three Laws of Robotics.” Introduced in his 1942 short story “Runaround,” these laws have become a framework for discussing AI ethics and the challenges of programming intelligent systems to interact safely and effectively with humans.

Asimov’s “Three Laws” are discussed in I, Robot, the 2004 film starring Will Smith, which took inspiration (and its name) from the Russian-born author’s collection of short stories, published in 1950. One of the most prolific and influential writers in the history of science fiction, Asimov is also well known for his Foundation series, exploring the rise and fall of civilizations across a galactic empire, which inspired the Apple series, heading into its third season. Notably, he also co-wrote 1992’s The Positronic Man, which was adapted into the 1999 film Bicentennial Man starring Robin Williams.

Ridley won an Oscar for writing Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave, earning three Emmy nominations for his work on American Crime, the anthology he created for ABC. Most recently, he wrote, directed, and produced Shirley, a biopic of the United States’ first Black congresswoman, Shirley Chisholm, for Netflix, which starred Academy Award winner Regina King. As a director, his other credits include series like Five Days at Memorial, Godfather of Harlem, Guerrilla and Let It Fall: Los Angeles 1982-1992, as well as 2013’s Jimi: All Is by My Side. Ridley is also known for his work with DC Comics including “The Other History of the DC Universe,” “Gcpd: The Blue Wall,” and the recently released “Justice League: The Atom Project #1.”

Most recently writing on and co-producing Paris Barclay’s doc Billy Preston: That’s the Way God Planned It on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee of the same name, Coker has also worked on films like Notorious and Creed II, along with Southland, Ray Donovan and other series.

Ticket sales for the family friendly sequel declined by 63% from its record-breaking Thanksgiving debut of $139 million over the traditional frame and $225 million during the five-day holiday stretch. According to Disney, “Moana 2” secured the biggest post-Thanksgiving weekend, overtaking the benchmark set by “Frozen II” with $35.2 million. However, the second “Frozen” opened prior to Thanksgiving and had been in theaters for three weekends at that point.

“Moana 2” has been a huge boon for movie theater owners considering the Polynesian-set sequel was originally commissioned as a TV series. So far, the second “Moana” has grossed $300 million domestically and $600 million globally. The fight between Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) and Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) in Rocky IV is one of the franchise's best, but it somehow got even better 39 years after the movie's premiere. Apollo Creed's fight with Ivan Drago is one of the best scenes of Rocky IV, and one of the best fights in the entire trilogy. It's packed with emotional moments, unexpected twists, and the jaw-dropping death of Creed. It's quite nearly a perfect fight in terms of its actual action and its narrative impact, but it somehow got even better decades later.

The Rocky franchise experienced a rebirth with 2015's Creed, and Michael B. Jordan's time at the helm of the series has retroactively made a lot of Sylvester Stallone's films even better. From Adonis himself to Dolph Lundgren's cameo in Creed II, the newer films have done a lot to enhance the originals. Interestingly, Rocky IV...

Dolph Lundgren and Carl Weathers were initially adversaries both on and off-camera in Rocky IV. In a recent interview, Lundgren explained why he felt Weathers was always sore about their characters' fight in the 1985 sports movie.

Speaking with Screen Rant during a Fan Expo panel, Lundgren shared how he didn't get to spend much time with Weathers before they were thrown into the ring together to shoot the fight between Ivan Drago and Apollo Creed. "Well, I didn't know Carl [before Rocky IV]. I knew Stallone because we boxed and trained together for six months, and he was my boss. We were in the ring six days a week, so you push each other around, you're sparring, and you get to know each other. But Carl, I didn't know," he explained. "When I first met him, we were shooting the fight of Apollo versus Drago in Las Vegas, and Carl showed up two days before.

Rocky IV star Dolph Lundgren reveals the on-set tension between him and co-star Carl Weathers. Having played Apollo Creed in the first three Rocky films, Weathers was no stranger to the hugely successful sports movie franchise when he returned for a fourth go-around. Rocky IV would indeed prove to be Weathers’ last Rocky franchise appearance as Creed (outside of flashbacks), as the character famously died in the ring while fighting the Russian behemoth Ivan Drago, played by newcomer Lundgren.

But Lundgren didn’t only feel tension with Weathers as a result of their playing adversaries, he also felt it off-camera due to unfamiliarity, as he revealed exclusively to Screen Rant during a Fan Expo panel. Lundgren recalls being comfortable with Rocky actor Sylvester Stallone after sparring with him for weeks:

Well, I didn't know Carl [before Rocky IV]. I knew Stallone because we boxed and trained together for six months, and he was my boss.

Rocky did not appear at all in Creed III, but that's still better than what Expend4bles did with Sylvester Stallone's character. Rocky and The Expendables are two of the biggest franchises of Sylvester Stallone's career. However, they came at extremely different points in his career. The first Rocky movie was released when Stallone was largely unknown, and ended up turning him into a star. Meanwhile, Stallone led The Expendables movies when he was already a veteran Hollywood actor.

However, years after the Rocky franchise concluded, it was rebooted with 2015's Creed, which featured Rocky Balboa as a mentor figure and coach for his old friend Apollo Creed's son. Disney’s “Moana 2” cemented a new Thanksgiving box office record with $225 million over the five-day holiday frame, obliterating the previous high-water marks set by 2019’s “Frozen II” ($125 million) and 2013’s “Hunger Games: Catching Fire” ($109 million). It also stands as the biggest five-day debut in history, overtaking Universal’s 2023 behemoth “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” ($205.6 million). The film’s three-day tally of $139.7 million registers as the best start for Walt Disney Animation ahead of “Frozen II” ($130.2 million the weekend prior to Thanksgiving). Ticket sales for the “Moana” sequel were higher than Sunday’s estimates of $135.5 million over the traditional weekend $221 million over the five-days and far above early projections of $135 million to $145 million.

“‘Moana 2’ has far surpassed our high expectations this weekend and is a testament to the phenomenon that ‘Moana’ has become,” Disney Entertainment co-chairman Alan Bergman said in a statement.

Even when they did happen, they were generally lower-budget than the original, and studios considered themselves lucky to gross around 60% of what the first entry made. Creed is an outstanding boxing movie, yet I hold it in even higher regard due to how it improved one of my favorite Rocky movies: Rocky IV. When Creed was announced, I was as skeptical as many others were. Given the mix of good and bad Rocky movies over the years, yet another franchise reboot did not overly excite audiences. This can partly be attributed to the Hollywood landscape upon Creed's release, when legacy movie sequels were commonplace, from Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Jurassic World to Mad Max: Fury Road.

Creed instantly became one of my favorite movies in the entire franchise, not only for how it stood on its own but also for how it elevated the Rocky movies that came before it. Creed’s Michael B Jordan will direct and star in a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, and here are the details.

Since his star making performance in Ryan Coogler’s 2013 drama Fruitvale Station, Michael B. Jordan has taken on an eclectic range of films. He’s gone from starring opposite Chadwick Boseman in Marvel’s Black Panther to headlining Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky sequel Creed trilogy, making his directorial debut with 2023’s Creed 3. A fourth Creed film is reportedly in development.

According to Deadline, Jordan has closed a deal with Amazon MGM Studios and Outlier Society to direct and star in a remake of classic thriller The Thomas Crown Affair – this would be the third take on the material, with the first emerging in 1968.

Drew Pearce has written the remake’s script, rewriting a previous draft by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson, which is based on the original film.
