Everything New On Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime And More This Weekend
Things have been pretty quiet on the movie front for a while, given the pandemic, but this weekend marks a major upswing in content for cinema lovers, with multiple brand new releases available. Judd Apatow’s The King of Staten Island is unfortunately not up for streaming at present, but Netflix Original Da 5 Bloods, the latest effort from the Oscar-winning Spike Lee, is. Even outside of these new films though, there’s plenty of fresh titles coming to the various streaming services this weekend, from classic movies, recent hits, new TV series, old TV series, etc. Whatever combination of services you’re subscribed to, you can fill your whole weekend watching what’s coming to Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon, HBO Max and the rest over the next few days.

Hulu Announces Over 100 New Movies And TV Shows For June
There are a lot of popular streaming platforms to choose from, but Hulu has always stood alongside Netflix as one of the two essentials for households looking for diversity in content. In the past, they’ve been known for focusing more heavily on newer television content, while Netflix has always offered a larger selection of sought-after films. But now, it looks like Hulu’s June lineup is only going to continue the service’s recent trend of providing high quality movies to bring itself in line with their competitor.

First up, you can get wholesome with Mr. Rogers in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, which tells the story of an investigative journalist who learns some hard life lessons from one of television’s most beloved personalities. You can then supplement that wholesomeness with My Girl and My Girl 2 for some wonderful 90s nostalgia.

Speaking of nostalgia, you won...

Michael Jordan, Dennis Rodman, Phil Jackson, Steve Kerr, and Scottie Pippen in The Last Dance (2020)
Hulu New Releases: June 2020
Michael Jordan, Dennis Rodman, Phil Jackson, Steve Kerr, and Scottie Pippen in The Last Dance (2020)
June 2020 is set to be a big month for the whole streaming Disney family. Not only will ESPN+ have the entirety of The Last Dance on its servers for late-adopting sports fans to catch up with, but Disney+ will be premiering its long-awaited Artemis Fowl film. Over on its biggest streaming service in Hulu, however, Disney is taking things a bit more slowly.

This month finds only three major original releases for Hulu. Animated medieval comedy Crossing Swords premieres on June 12, then Ya love story Love Victor and cooking show Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi both arrive on June 19. All in all, that’s not a bad haul for originals for the typically slow summer months.

June 1 sees a pretty impressive crop of movies coming to Hulu’s library as well. October Sky, The X-Files (1998), and Casino will all be ready to stream at the beginning of the month.

Phoebe Fox on the Noir of ‘Intrigo: Samaria’ and the Corsets of ‘The Great’
Image
Phoebe Fox was born in to an acting family, the daughter of actors Stuart Fox and Prue Clarke. When she was a young girl, she got to see her mother play Cinderella. “I was seven or eight and couldn’t get over the fact my mom was Cinderella,” she says with a laugh. “To me, it just seemed like the best job, playing make-believe.”

After attending the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (Rada), Fox soon made a name for herself onstage in plays like “A View from the Bridge” opposite Mark Strong and films like “Eye in the Sky” and “The Aeronauts.”

This week, she can be seen in two very different roles: now available on digital and streaming is “Intrigo: Samaria,” a mystery from Swedish director Daniel Alfredson; the film is the third in a trilogy of films based on stories from acclaimed Swedish writer Håkan Nesser. Fox plays Paula,...

Full Us Trailer for 'Intrigo: Samaria' Featuring Jeff Fahey & Phoebe Fox
Jeff Fahey, Andrew Buchan, and Phoebe Fox in Intrigo: Samaria (2019)
"To me, she was a mystery!" Lies and deceit and dark pasts aplenty. Lionsgate has debuted one final trailer for the third film in the Intrigo Anthology, a series of mystery thrillers adapted from novels by Håkan Nesser. This final one is called Intrigo: Samaria, following up Intrigo: Death of an Author and Intrigo: Dear Agnes previously. Years after the murder of Vera, her friend from college, Paula is driven to make a documentary about the case and asks a professor to help. But as the two draw closer to the shocking truth behind the slaying, Paula's deceitful ways and Henry's dark past explode into a dangerous, heart-stopping confrontation. Sounds scary? Starring Phoebe Fox as Paula, with Millie Brady, Andrew Buchan, Jeff Fahey, Luka Peros, Scott Alexander Young, and Jack Brett Anderson. Even though in text this film may not sound that interesting, this is quite an enticing trailer with heaps of twists and turns.

Phoebe Fox
Exclusive: Eye In The Sky and Close To The Enemy actress Phoebe Fox has joined Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult in Hulu’s limited series pilot The Great.

Written and executive produced by Tony McNamara (The Favourite), the series charts the rise to power of Catherine the Great (Fanning) and her explosive relationship with husband Peter (Hoult), the emperor of Russia. Fox will play third lead Marial, Catherine’s right hand woman.

As we previously revealed, the project hails from Mrc (House of Cards). Fanning is also executive producer with Marian Macgowan, Echo Lake and Thruline. Shoot is underway with Matt Shakman (Game Of Thrones) directing.

Catherine II, born Princess Sophie of Anhalt-Zerbst, was the daughter of a Prussian general, who was introduced to the prospective tsar Peter of Holstein-Gottorp when she was only 10 as part of European Royal families’ use of marriages as a tool for strengthening (and weakening) political ties between countries.
