There are diverse streaming releases slates and then there is Hulu’s list of new releases for May 2022. There are no big franchises here, no big themes – just a whole bunch of original and library titles for everyone to enjoy.

Hulu’s major original releases in May come in the middle of the month. Candy premieres on May 9 and stars Jessica Biel as your friendly neighborhood axe murderer. If that sounds a bit outlandish, bear in mind that this limited series is based on the real life story of Candy Montgomery and her victim, the tragically named Betty Gore. On May 15, Hulu will play host to Conversations with Friends. This is the latest adaptation of the works of Sally Rooney. After the breakaway success of Normal People, Hulu is undoubtedly hoping for more lightning in a bottle.

"How much are you prepared to pay?" Lionsgate has released an official Us trailer for the next film in the Intrigo trilogy, this one officially titled Intrigo: Dear Agnes. We featured the trilogy teaser last year, and the main trailer for Intrigo: Death of an Author earlier this year. This is the second feature film in the big screen adaptation of the mystery series. With the death of her husband, Agnes is desperate for money. Then she runs into her old friend Henny, who is enraged at her unfaithful spouse, Peter. Henny makes Agnes a shocking offer—enough cash to live a better life, if she will murder Peter and get rid of him. All this leads to an "explosive, unforgettable climax." Based on a series of short stories from Sweden, of course. This specific murder thriller stars Carla Juri, Gemma Chan, Jamie Sives, Jason Wong, Laurie Kynaston, and Cal MacAninch.

Lionsgate has debuted a full trailer for the first feature in a mystery crime-thriller trilogy from Sweden called Intrigo, adapted from a series of short stories. The first film, titled Intrigo: Death of an Author, will open in January in Us theaters. The teaser we featured a few weeks ago teases the entire trilogy, but this new trailer is specifically for the first film only. Set in northern Europe including Sweden and the Netherlands, the trio of films deal with intimate portraits of crime. Benno Fürmann stars in this first one as a man who receives the last manuscript from a famous author who has disappeared. One of the most unique storytelling experiences will be hitting theaters in 2020.

A three-part anthology series titled Intrigo, based on Swedish writer Hakan Nesser’s thriller novels, will be released next year, starting with the first movie on January 17. All three movies are set in northern Europe, and all three deal with “intimate portraits of crime,” according to a press release for the film.

The first, Intrigo: Death of an Author, stars Ben Kingsley and Benno Fürmann, and People’s exclusive look at the teaser for all three films sees the men meeting at the secluded lighthouse where Kingsley’s Henderson leaves.
