After being dumped by her boyfriend Carl for being unadventurous, Mary (Amy Smart) sets out to prove him wrong by tracking down the handsome stranger (Adrian Grenier), whose cellphone she found on the subway.

A young woman's hope for an engagement is upended unexpectedly when her fiancé tells her he is looking for someone more adventurous. On her train ride home, she finds herself trading glances with a handsome stranger who leaves his phone behind as he exits the train. After journalist Mary Landers is assigned to write a Valentine's Day story about "The Meaning of Love," her long-time boyfriend breaks up with her, leaving her feeling that her life is boring and predictable.
