if u think this movie is bad then you didnt pay attention

It was slow at first. I assume the people who didnt like it dont have the attention span needed to get 20 minutes into a movie. In the end I enjoyed it a lot.

Confused with the name XD

They said in the movie, that Katia comes from Poland (not Romania like it's been described). Only Katia is a Russian name... In Poland is Katarzyna, which is called Kasia

Seen it all before

**NON-SPOILER**

Predictable film, called most of the shots prior to them happening. It's a bit obsessive and the acting is decent. It was just very predictable, it needed a further twist.

Hum....

Well, I liked it.

This film is a very much in the moment sort of film. I say that because there is not a lot of depth to it. Very few characters with very little when it comes to their backstories. It is meant to be watched at face value.

It took about 15-20 minutes to get going but once it did, you are sucked into trying to figure out what is going on and the reasons behind it all. It never slaps you with any real answers but even though I would normally be irritated by it, I wasn't with this film. I just liked what I saw but I do wish there would've been more at the very, very end.

This isn't going to scare you. It's not that type of horror but it is a mild version of what I would consider to be psychological horror. If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, check it out. It's not my normal cup of tea but I did end up liking it.

Awfully boring

Hard to understand how this boring piece of film managed to get any good reviews. Complete waste of time, maybe tattoo enthusiasts like it for the tats but the story was nonexistent, characters had zero background, acting was ok i guess but this is neither a thriller nor horror nor interesting at all. My g/f made me watch till the end, at least i had some quiet time to read stuff on my phone. I did pay attention but really regret it now. The end was really generic too, you can't even say the script was predictable as there isn't anything happening you could predict. Yes it's that bland.

Hauntingly beautiful

I was pleasantly surprised by this. I had no idea what to expect. The storyline is really good as well as the acting. The music was perfect for the movie and gave it a really sexy vibe. I'd say give this about 30 minutes. It is slow burning at first, then unfolds into something very unique and hauntingly beautiful.

Peculiar art film

I really wish Richard Brake did more roles he's amazing! The music in this is trancelike which is really cool! I understand why people said Perfect Skin is boring but it's fairly enjoyable and menacing. Not your average horror movie, it's got a bit of depth to it.

This colourfully creepy shocker got right under my skin!

Kevin Chicken's claustrophobic, stylishly mounted Brit-shocker proved to be a pleasingly perverse psychodrama about a terminally twisted Tattooist's altogether sadistic fantasy that got WAY out of his tremulous hands! A fetishistic, fabulously transgressive, skin-prickingly sinister terror flick that I'm quite sure industrial music legend Genesis P. Orridge would have adored! Stunning Polish actress Natalia Kostrzewa is wholly remarkable as Katia, having to endure the most hideous travails as the unfortunate muse to the tyrannical, dangerously obsessive tattoo artist Bob (Richard Brake). This colourful creepshow might give some the needle, but it got right under my skin!

Sad remake rip off

This is obviously a weak copy of Dee Schneider's Strangeland. The story is slow and dialog leaves you wanting more. I felt nothing for any of the characters since they all felt interchangeable. Don't waste your time on this one.

It's OK.

Not bad. Decent story concept but could have been better. Builds up for the first 90+ minutes but ends quite disappointingly and rather quickly for me. Worth a watch though and judge for yourself.

Fantastic, entrancing tale of desire and capturing beauty

I saw this film as many as others at fightfest, it was the most beautiful and captivating film of the festival, not hands down the best but I think I might have enjoyed it the most. The actors were all fantastic and the film had a truly unique aesthetic. But there is no debate that Richard brake as with most films steals the show. I loved him and I loved the film. For a less complex 'the skin I live in' start right here. The artistic merit is no less deserved than almodovar, Kevin chicken should be very proud

Beautifully shot and engaging!

Caught this film at Frightfest and so glad I did! Engaging from beginning to end with brilliant performances. Richard Break is fantastic throughout as a sympathetic villain. Definitely worth seeking out!

WATCH IT!!

I'm not usually one for horror films (I get too scared) but a friend spontaneously dragged me along to this and I loved it.

The plot is incredible, each time i thought it was climaxing it unraveled deeper and deeper.

The actors are so convincing, set in my home town london they appeared to be real people i could pass any day who live in the city. The aussie party girl traveler, the shy eastern european girl who's lost in the big city, the older creative who's still addicted to his subcultures despite aging in a young world...

I was admittedly terrified start to finish but I absolutely loved every second and cant wait to watch it again!

My Review Of "Perfect Skin"

The story is a dark character study on an artist's obsessed nature as his desire to create a masterpiece of body art on the perfect skin, and the manifestation of truly sinister actions he takes. It is all done with an almost breathless calm as a psychological drama destorts into something almost akin to bondage fetish. Of course Chicken never steps into such exploitational domain. He manages a hypnotic, intimate thriller that gingerly blurs the lines between body modification art and horror.

The casting is perfection. The characters are strong, recognizable people we can all relate to, and who doesn't know "that" tattoo guy. Which makes the film more personable and terrifying. The direction that Chicken takes, going for more, subtle-suggestive expressions of horror, while still crsating a chilling story is beyond impressive for a directorial debut.

"Perfect Skin" isn't your standard full-throttle psycho killer film. It stays more subdued as it creates a gradual tension. Most of the film's setting hangs closer to late 2000's exploitation/torture motif, never letting you forget that this is a horror movie. Plus, what gore is onscreen is enough to garner approval from any visceral driven horror fan.

Overall I really liked "Perfect Skin". This isn't usually my subgenre, but the story, and characters are so real any one from ripped-from-the-headlines thriller fans to giallo inspired hardcore fans can get into it. Add to that some great cinematography and sweet music score and "Perfect Skin" is one to watch. My only negative would be that I didn't care for the ending- the last few frames.

Fantastic film with an amazing performance by Richard Brake. Beautifully crafted, with a dark twisted heart by director Kevin Chicken. This is a dark and beautiful film and a must see film for genre fans.

One of the best 2019 movies

Very intense after the first 20 minutes. Richard Brake is a man of genius. Perfect vision, rhytm and music. The Polish girl is an exellent actress. Very original idea. High class cinema, British quality. Deep, clever and psychologically motivated.

Dark Horror Thriller

Perfect Skin: Katia (Natalia Kostrzewa) is a Romanian Au Pair who has fallen out with the host family, she is dependent on acquaintances to provide accommodation. She meets Bob (Richard Brake) a seemingly friendly tattoo artist who is anything but. When Katia is drunk he abducts her and keeps her caged in his basement while he inscribes his masterpiece on her skin. Brake is excellent as he mixes family life with his nefarious activities. A skilled sociopath he makes it look as if Katia had ripped off her inquisitive flatmate Lucy (Jo Woodstock) before he accumulates even more victims. Kostrzewa puts in a great performance as she veers from Stockholm Syndrome to desires to escape. The horror is mostly of a psychological variety but there are some very disturbing scenes. Decapitation, smothering, piercing of skin with hooks. Not a film you'll forget in a hurry. Writer/Director Kevin Chicken has plenty to crow about as he delivers this dark horror thriller. 8/10.
