A 71-Minute Gap in My Memory

So I could take the time to tear apart every single aspect of this movie, the horrible acting, the nonsensical plot-they "accidentally" shoot one of the furries thinking they're an animal, AFTER knowing that there are furries hanging around-the fact that it randomly shifts to wacky comedy and back ten minutes before it ends, but doing so would be almost as big of a waste of time as watching this movie.

The thing is, this movie is completely inconsequential. The fact that it exists has no impact on anything beyond being an embarrassing blot on a handful of people's resumes, and 71 minutes missing from the memory of anyone unfortunate enough to have watched it.

It's an entire movie based around "OMG furries are so creepy right?" Which maybe could have been enough in the early 2000s, but in 2016 it's basically just regurgitating the same jokes that had already been running throughout popular media for the last decade.

If you go down to the woods today, you're in furry big surprise.

Furry Nights is a horror film made by a bunch of amateurs about a bunch of amateurs making a horror film. While recording a swamp monster movie in the woods, a group of teens witness a gathering of 'furries' (people who get their kicks from dressing and acting like animals) on the opposite side of a lake. After one of the film-making friends accidentally shoots one of these furries, believing it to be a real bear, the rest of the 'animals' arm themselves and seek revenge.

Furry Nights could have been a truly demented and OTT effort - after all, furries are inherently creepy, allowing plenty of scope for oddball horror antics - but the extremely weak script, terrible acting, and an unwillingness to get really crazy means that the film fails to capitalise on its intriguing premise. Writer/director J. Zachary Thurman manages some reasonably impressive shots, but his storytelling leaves a lot to be desired, plot progression almost non-existent after the initial set-up, and a reliance on 'found-footage' style camerawork quickly becoming tiresome (a Blair Witch parody scene being the worst).

With minimal gore and only the merest hint of nudity, there is very little for fans of the absurd and outrageous to get excited about - unless you too get your jollies from animal masks and butt-plug tails.

1.5/10, rounded up to 2 for IMDb.

Rubbish

This is the worst film I've ever seen. Its absolute crap. These so called teenagers look 30 years old! There is no chemistry between any of the characters. They're all very unlikeable and annoying. Nothing that they do makes logical sense. They're all unrealistic and you can't relate to them.

Thoughts from a fellow film maker...

This movie was ROBBED of every academy award ever. The acting was impeccable, the cinematography of it all was STUNNING every scene and shot had a purpose to futher the forever deepening plot. The immersive blood splater on the camera added in post in the beginning of the movie really set tone for what kind of movie this was going to be. This gripping film had me on the edge of my seat till the bitter end. And dont get me started on the furries. They were so scary yet oddly intriguing at the same time. 10 out of 10.

Interesting

Initially, being a furry myself, I was pretty offended and annoyed that they immediately went "there" with their portrayal of furries.. We get dressed up, get together in the woods, and get our kinks on while making animal sounds. But once I got past that, it was pretty humorous. Think of this as an outside point of view of furry revenge. By the end, i actually enjoyed it.

Amazing!!

Okay. You know a movie is going to be "good" when there is nudity within the first 10-seconds. In this case, it was a furry. Great movie!!
