Loved It. One of the better Hallmark holiday movies

Yes, this story has been done before but don't let that stop you from enjoying it. A woman makes an offhand wish and it's granted. Reminiscent of It's a Wonderful Life. Compared to some Hallmark movies, the characters were believable and had great chemistry. The acting, was well done, especially Nikki Deloach who played Penny and Andrew Walker, who played Stuart. Nothing seemed forced or fake. There was only character I didn't like and that was Jayne, played by Cindy Williams. Very annoying!

The story itself had a valuable lesson about appreciating what you have in life and the movie was warm and sentimental. I actually teared up at times. One of the better Hallmark holiday movies out there. Sure it was a bit predictable but not as much as you would think for this type of movie. Worth watching.

A LOT BETTER THAN MOST

Nikki de Loach is always a comfortable watch. She doesn't shout her dialogue, she doesn't act the ditzy blonde, and unlike a lot of Hallmark actresses, she can act. Casting more mature leads, is always a winner, - and who doesn't like Andrew Walker ?

The storyline is fairytale, but hey its Christmas and because the acting is ok its an enjoyable view for a couple of hours.

I gave it 7 Solid Stars for the story!

I really liked this one. I like it when it has a little mystery involved. It is my ultimate 'wish' to be able read minds and find out what other's are wishing. This movie shows us that what we wish for is not always what we ultimately wanted. So be careful what you all are wishing for, seriously!! You might get what you really didn't want. Was it a do-over for the sisters? Maybe, maybe not. You'll have to watch it and see. However, it's good to be home no matter what your wish was. It's enjoyable, go for it! Happy Holidays to all! Excellent Holiday movie Hallmark! Make more back in time movies like this and see how differently the outcomes can be.

A charming dream

My expectations were mixed before seeing 'A Dream of Christmas'. Andrew Walker and Nikki Deloach have been good in other things, even in projects beneath them. Hallmark films can be very charming and engaging and they have been capable of quite a number of above average and more films. My reservations come from the premise, which sounds nothing new and quite lukewarm, and because my recent Hallmark viewings have been very mixed.

'A Dream of Christmas' was to me one of their above average efforts. It isn't a great or flawless film and one plot point isn't as good as the rest. But DeLoach, Walker and their chemistry are served very well indeed, and there is a lot of charm and heart to be found. As far as the Hallmark films go from 2016, 'A Dream of Christmas' is among the better ones and one of the better ones from my relatively recent Hallmark/Lifetime Christmas film viewings.

There are things that could have been done better. Did too find Cindy Williams' character rather unpleasant and thought that Williams, despite it being nice to see her again, overplayed her. As a result, the film did lose its warmth somewhat.

Did think that 'A Dream of Christmas' could have done more with its premise. It isn't wasted strictly speaking, but Penny's frustration and dilemma did to me seem too mild. It could have been tighter in the pace and one does know how the film is going to end which it does typically too tidily.

However, 'A Dream of Christmas' does have a huge amount to like. Visually, 'A Dream of Christmas' is slick and attractive. Hallmark often did deliver on the scenery, the locations were seldom authentic to the real thing but they still looked great and lovingly shot, and this film is no exception. There is a tendency in Hallmark to have the music too prominent and intrusive, found neither to be the case (not distractingly so anyhow) here. The script flows well and is easy to take seriously without being overly so. Really appreciated its sincerity, something that's evident in the story.

While the story is not innovative, it is warm hearted and has a lot of charm. The festive feel is beautifully done too. Really liked both Deloach and Walker's characters, Penny is not a female lead character that has negative attributes exaggerated and her feelings are relatable without being too perfect. Stuart is suitably sympathetic. Both Deloach and Walker play their parts beautifully, especially Deloach, and their chemistry is one of the few Hallmark pairings to actually work and feel genuine and worth relating to. Mostly the supporting cast do well, with only reservations with Williams.

Overall, nice film. 7/10.

Pretty cute Christmas flick

At the start of A Dream of Christmas, Nikki Deloach is married to Andrew W. Walker and is a lowly employee in an advertising firm. She wants more out of life, namely a higher position at work and to be untethered from her self-centered husband. But, as Cindy Williams warns, "Be careful what you wish for." All of a sudden, Nikki is transported to an alternate universe in which she's single, carefree, and one of the bigwigs in her company!

It's always fun to watch pretty people in a movie, and Nikki, Andrew, and her other love interest Christopher Russell are all very nice-looking and make for a fun film. Since it's a Hallmark movie, it's pretty easy to predict, and the characters are a little one-dimensional, but it's one of the cuter ones to come from the channel. I would have preferred a different ending, but then it wouldn't really fit in with the Christmas spirit of Hallmark. It's not the end of the world, though. I watched the premiere last year and added it to my roster again this Christmas, because who doesn't like Christmas movies about getting a fresh start in life?

Time to play how do you know that actor

A Dream of Christmas follows a wife (Nikki Deloach) who wonders what would her life be like if she'd never married her husband (Andrew Walker). She opines at the mall in to see Santa with her sister and nieces and is overheard by angel (Cindy Williams) and thusly her wish is granted and she wakes up the next morning with her life and those around her lives significantly changed. On the scale of Christmas movies it was enjoyable fluff!

Wonderful movie

Nikki Deloach and Andrew Walker chemistry is out of this world. As soon as they on screen in any film the sparks fly. This movie is so different. I also loved Cindy Williams as the Angel.

Familiar concept but well done

Facing some difficulties in her life a woman wishes she hadn't been married. She gets her wish granted and dreams of life without having married her husband and the consequences of having a successful career and no love. The concept is familiar but the execution is quite light hearted and well done.

The cast is likable and avoids the annoying nature of some Hallmark movies. Nikki de Loach is quite bright without being too perky. Andrew Walker plays her husband.

The lesson is to be grateful for what you have. The alternative could be worse.

A Dream Worth Watching- Good Lead Roles

The movie has a bit of fantasy in it which added to its appeal. The story was very good and well done. The lead actress was very good as was the lead actor (I saw him in Dashing through the Snow- he was much better here). I especially liked the role of the personal assistant in this movie.

There it is a simple story with a few lead actors and some supporting actors and we have some success. I think they did a good job at defining the attraction of the lead actress. I would probably not mind watching this one again. My wife dozed a few times on this one but she was very tired. They did a good job.

Very Enjoyable

Great concept for a romance movie, definitely not original, but still well made. Nikki DeLoach in the lead role is very believable with a good supporting cast and it has that predictable but heart-warming conclusion. I enjoyed it.

An improved alternate reality x-mas flick

6.6 stars.

Better than the Lacey Chabert version by far. Not as good as some other ones I've seen, better than many, so it's average in this particular spin of the genre; and there have been oh so many movies like this I've lost count.

Woman wishes for a different life, and she gets it, only to realize its not what she wanted. They should've titled it Christmas knock-out. Fact is, she was knocked out when she fell, it probably wan't a dream, but "dream" rolls off the tongue, and leaves a softer impression.

I enjoyed it, it checks all the boxes of this trope (seems to be the obligatory word). I rather enjoyed the alternate reality, it was robust and lively, and it was looking pretty positive until the end. How can "Dorothy" find her way back home "Kansas". Where are the glass slippers, or should we say glass ornament.

The end was wrapped up very nicely, and for me elevated my final rating from a 6.3 to 6.6.

"Christmas doesn't come in a box."

A Dream Of Christmas (2016) -

As with Paul Newman's effortless handsome appeal, Andrew W. Walker was so God damned beautiful in this film. He played Stuart, the leading lady's husband and a relationship that she was questioning, because he was never home. To me he has always been divine and made my heart melt whenever I've watched him so despite the daft red beanie that made him look a little bit dopey, I would never wish to not be married to him as Penny (Nikki Deloach) did in this film.

With the wish granted by a mysterious Lady/Angel, Penny's past was changed and her present unsure, her journey to finding true happiness was not an easy one and an obvious surprise, as she was initially unaware that the wish had come true at all.

In her new existence she met Andrew, the major new important client, who was played by the also handsome Christopher Russell. I could see why she might question whether the new path was the right one with Andrew giving her the googly eyes, but would he be all that he seemed?

Ultimately I would have gone back to Stuart anyway, because he had that extra factor, but to see what and who she opted for you'll have to watch it.

I really enjoyed this one, because there was nothing to really gripe about. It had enough Christmas without being over the top. A lovely message of careful what you wish for, love the one you're with, be happy with what you've been given, etc and a warm feel to it in general.

Most of the made for TV Christmas films from 2023 could learn a lot from this one, because they were really quite dire this year!

My favorite Christmas love story!

Sometimes storyline's come along that show us how to appreciate what we don't realize we have all along. This is one of those stories that you really want to end great. The acting is superb and funny and sweet and everything that you could want in a love story.

More of the pro-marriage / anti-success messaging.

Ugh, again. It's a cute enough movie (Andrew Walker is the highlight), but I'm tired of film and television preaching that someone can only find happiness if they choose marriage over their own career and success. Lame. It's the exact same message of "The Family Man" and Hallmark's "Just in Time for Christmas" and countless others.

Not everyone chooses this path and that should be okay. Filmmakers should realize that *all* of us want to see ourselves reflected in their characters, not just the audience members who have chosen marriage over career and freedom.

As an aside, another doctrine Hallmark loves to hammer home: that women can only be attractive when they're perfectly coiffed, wearing gobs of makeup, and dressed to the nines (with absurd heels). In my opinion, the exact opposite is true, and Penny looks so much better at the very beginning of the movie!

A heartwarming film to watch

It was indeed a heartwarming film that makes you just want to snuggle with your loved ones while you watch. Every now and then, I'm in the mood of watching light and feel-good movies to get in touch with the season and Hallmark movies does the trick!

The concept of someone waking up in a different reality only to find out that you wanted things back to the way they were before adds intricacy to the story and it made me want to continue to watch until the end and hope for a happy ending!

The actors were believable and I felt the chemistry between Stu and Penny. One other strong point of the movie is the wonderfully set stage design and decors. The lights and colors are enchanting. It definitely brings in the joy of Christmas!

Overall, I rate it a solid 8/10 and I fully recommend it to everyone who are trying to get to the Christmas Spirit.

Spectacular

I have to admit I came in ten minutes late but the cable summary was enough to catch on, maybe it even made it more fun to watch. A very effective Nikki Deloach gets her wish to see a different life. Things sort of play as you might think, but even though we see the Hallmark formula there are a few different twists in this one. Carol Williams is great as the helpful angel. Even I (a guy) got a little teary at the end that's how well it was done. Recommended.

Throughly enjoyed this one

I really enjoyed this! I think the main actors had fantastic chemistry. The movie is, of course, predicatable as Hallmark movies are, but that is part of the reason that I watch them. One scene left me hanging - when Penny met the angel again closer to Christmas and was given a present, she left it on the bench. What was the present? Was it just chocolates.? The way the camera focussed on the present as Penny walked away I thought it would be more significant to the story but it was never mentioned again.

Great xmas movie

I rated the movie as a xmas movie. Its special to see a good story, great acting, and nice pictures. Rather different as the rest of this kind of movies. But its exactly about what xmas means or should mean.

Well done!
